    Rip Wheeler is one of the most riveting and popular characters on Yellowstone, and actor Cole Hauser has become the object of a great deal of female attention as a result. In an interview with Taste of Country in the runup to the show's much-anticipated Season 4, Hauser shares why he thinks women respond so forcefully to his character.
    Rip Wheeler has been one of the mainstays of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch since Yellowstone launched in 2018. His dark childhood led him to the ranch, where he developed not only a bond of fierce loyalty to Dutton patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), but also a longterm on-again, off-again romance with his John's daughter, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly).
    Rip serves as the ranch foreman, a role that often entails skirting - if not obliterating - traditional views of ethics, morals and the law as he also serves as the Duttons' unofficial enforcer. His brooding intensity and dark good looks drive the show's female fans to rave about him online, and Hauser says that's because they can see past Rip's darkness to his core qualities.

    Because rip is one of the few dipictions of a true man. Tough but kind. Kind but not submissive. A monster but under control. Honorable. Strong. A man who is both going to love his woman unconditionally but will also say “put the crazy away” and draw the line when need be. And above all that he has self respect. You EARN rip wheeler

    His singular focus on those he loves is the most sexy thing of all time. You watch Rip and you know beyond a doubt that he will never betray those he loves, and he would do anything including losing his life to save those he loves. There is nothing more sexy than that. Rip is the fantasy man every woman searches for in real life and wont ever find because no man is perfect….

    Every once in a great while an iconic role comes along that just stands out by itself. Other roles are not even close. It is a one of a kind character that stands alone. Rip Wheeler is one of those characters. To be played by Cole makes it even more intense. For those of us that have spent most of our adult lives in this type of lifestyle it is easy for us to see why Rip appeals to women as well as the entire audience. It is called the Code of the West. The commentator speaks of honor and loyalty which are a large part of it. The one that seals the deal is Kindness. Every once in a while we get a short glimpse of it. That kindness starts with animals and then broadens itself to include people and everything else. Great writing by Taylor Sheridan and great acting by Cole Hauser. It is that kindness that adds to the mystique of Rip Wheeler.

    Rip is a violent man. But it's a measured kind of violence. And when he releases his violence on the world, it comes from a deep-rooted place of love. He fears nothing, yet hates no one. He just does whats needs to be done. Regardless of morality. His surly attitude is his armor. His experiences before John Dutton took him in, was bad, and it grounds his loyalty. I think the stray kid is like an echo of that. His love for Beth is the most romantic story I've ever seen on the small screen.

    I guess in a world filled with injustice, there is also a part of us that on some level, appreciates the instant justice metred out to the perceived "bad guys" too. It's swift, it's efficient, and it's down right entertaining. But we also know it's wrong too. That makes it conflicting, nuanced, contradictory, and filled with humanity. He represents an archytpe we rarely see anymore. That stoic, strong man, equally capable of gentleness, love, intimacy, violence and loyalty and driven by a set of values that defines him. I mean he may as well be a unicorn. A rare breed. I love Kelly too, strong, take no prisoners, loyal, bad ass, yet also capable of such vulnerability and femininity. If they weren't so balanced they would be text book psychopaths. That's why they are so captivating to watch, and electric together. Great show, well drawn characters, amazing country, almost like a character itself, beautiful horses, never a dull moment, with Kevin as the centre in his perfect calm amongst the chaos. It doesn't get much better for television viewing. I hope it continues for years. Great show, I've loved every minute of it. Please keep them coming and greetings from Oz ✌️🇭🇲😊

    What I’m totally amazed about is the amount of women who are commenting about the toxic masculinity that Rip is showing. He’s showing what a man is supposed to be a protector, a guide and a rock for the family, something which you women have done your best to kill since 1960. My wife thankfully did not try to take that out of me and instead was one of the cornerstones of why she fell in love with me, as she says I’m her Neanderthal and she wouldn’t change me. Some of you women need to step back and see exactly what you’ve done to the man in your life and the men that you’re raising !

    • @sithlord1051
      @sithlord1051 Před 2 lety +13

      "Toxic" masculinity = masculinity. Spot on for recognizing women trying to destroy it. Sadly, however, it's not just women, but this new breed of bun-wearing, metrosexual, gender-confused males who are tearing it down with their effeminate, want-to-please-all ways. Masculinity is a culture, a character, behaviours, beliefs and norms that define it, and men hang on to that and embody it. I swear, some days I feel like the last bastion of manhood surrounded by these soft, easily-swayed, lacking males. We may share a gender, but certainly not a character.

      You beat me to what I was going to write ... Every day you see this masculinity being torn and shredded and then you read all these women really admire what has been kicked and frowned upon for years now. I grew up on the Southside of Chicago in the '50's and '60's, so maybe I didn't ride a horse, but I did grow up tougher than most, and being only 5'8" and 100#, loosing my Dad at an early age, and to top it off drafted into the Army (subsequently joined the Navy as a Naval Pilot) and a gruesome war, I learned to be more or less fearless. I remember walking proudly through O'hare Airport in '72 after I graduated from the Academy - and being so disillusioned when strangers would curse and spit at me because I was wearing my uniform (a requirement back in the day if you wanted to take advantage of $50 flights on commercial airlines. Sometimes I just thank God I can look in the mirror and realize I did the best that I could and that maybe it was OK ...

      Reality is Rip Wheeler is the kind of man women fall in love with then he goes to prison for protecting his woman or his family then she realizes that she can't wait 25 years for him to serve out his conviction for attempted murder so she moves on, marries another, bears children and raises a family while the man who sacrificed his freedom for protecting her rots in the penitentiary without the encouragement of her letters y photos which she stopped two years into his sentence.
      When he gets out after 14 years she calls him, cause she needs to know if it's true, then she cries saying she didn't think he'd be out so soon.
      So he tells her it's alright, as long as she's happy. Then he tells her not to leave her husband cause they have children and it's not right to wreck their family.
      Then her husband feels threatened that he'll lose his wife since her ex is free so he makes threats that he'll get the felon thrown back inside the pen by making false allegations to violate his parole.
      So end of story. He's a violent felon for life, lost the love of his life and lost his military career & pension.
      Trust me, it's not as romantic as television makes it seem to be.

And you're totally off the mark with the woman he chose, because she's liable to just go get him out of prison. Beth doesn't settle for seconds and she can't have kids anyway. Rip chose his equal, not some woman who will ever leave him for someone else. All sorts of women lust for him, because he is strong, sticks to his morals, is incredibly loyal and he'd do anything for those he loves.

    • @happycamper5846
      @happycamper5846 Před 9 měsíci

      I think though that in Rip's case, he certainly didn't chose a traditionally feminine wife, but someone as strong and equally vulnerable as himself. As for the traditional feminine wife, that really wasn't what the pioneer women were, and aren't in this show. They're strong and can take care of themselves, they face danger head on, because let's face it; when the men were away hunting or herding cattle elsewhere, guess who was left home to defend their place and family?: the women. A weak woman who only relied on her man would never keep him or survive out there on in the Yellowstone life. Women aren't children to be coddled, they're there to be equal partners and that's exactly what Rip chose. It's one of the reasons I find the Monica character so annoying: she can't decide if she wants to be a strong Native woman, or someone who is never happy with where she is and finds the ranch evil and is constantly yanking her husband back and forth. Or maybe it's just because she has had too many head injuries. Sheridan has a real thing about smashing the women in the face and head; Monica at least 3 times, Bethh and Teeter - but the men very rarely have marked up faces....

  • @pureblood_straight_pride1853

    One reason is because he is a REAL man. Willing to fight, loyal and sexy as hell !

    It's simple. He's a very masculine man. And no matter how society tries to convince us that men and women are the same, the fact is, women love masculine men. RIP is a dying breed that is becoming foreign in Hollywood....a manly man.

    He is just what most women want (even if they deny it). So tired of seeing these feminine type males that just don't have what it is to be a "man". His loyalty to the ones he loves is unbreakable. His duty to take justice in his own hands and do what needs to be done, no questions asked. He loves beth in a way that is unspeakable. He understands her vulnerabilities as well as his own. Women want to be wanted and ravished, cared for, loved, and protected. He fills all of those roles and and he's just so genuine and raw it's sucks you in like moth to a flame, you can't get enough of it.

    Because whoever wrote this character actually understood what women say when they describe wanting a man who is strong AND sensitive. It means protective and respectful to women, animals, kids, vulnerable people but brave and tough when confronted with bad people. Wanting a sensitive man has never meant a feminine man 24/7 emotional. It means a man who is kind towards women/kids/animals. Too many men think it's an either or, when it's a balance.

    The character of Rip should be a example to the men nowadays because the men nowadays are a bunch of wussy’s. Rips is a loyal, friend, a protector, a loving caring guy and would die for those he loves. He would do what needs to be done for those he loves. Not bad on the eyes either 👍He’s a softie underneath that shell when it comes to Beth but won’t won’t put up with no bull crap.
