  • Using a tee in batting practice is critical to becoming a great hitter. Many of the conference pros you know and love swear by the tee as part of their routine to stay sharp in the box.
    On this week's episode, we cover part I of a walk you through about setting up the tee and warming up for a productive tee session.

      Thanks for the comment Elton. Love that you are incorporating tee work into your routine. Many of the great players we know use the tee religiously. Hope to see you back when we drop future parts to this series!

    One of the things we’ve been talking about a lot is A getting warmed up and ….. 2 getting your body use to swinging a little bit heavier….. 🤣

      Hey Brian! I imagine the weather will start turning out there quickly. I don't know if us Californians could handle not playing ball outside for months at a time. Are you able to get some good indoor reps to keep you sharp for spring season? What do you work on when you can't hit the actual fields?

    Question: I hear a lot about “waiting on the ball” and not swinging too early. Does standing that far up to the plate allow me to still do that?

      Hey Kole, thanks for watching! We are glad you are as excited as we are about this tee work series. We expect to have at least 3-4 videos breaking down different aspects of a swing (backside, middle, pull, cut, etc.). Any one of those, or one we didn't mention, you are specifically excited about? Let us know!

    Your videos are great as always! Question I've been using the tee all year to prepare and stay hungry during the season. I never used the jimmer stick though. Have you noticed if it's made an impact with your strength and/or speed performance over time?

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  Před rokem +1

      I wouldn't say it helps much with any particular strength gains (that mostly will happen in the gym). However, getting warmed up with it certainly makes swinging a standard sized bat easy and accurate. Maybe even more importantly, swinging the heavy, thin Jimmer stick really locks in barrel accuracy. I'm sure it will help different people in different ways but it certainly helps.

    Love my Jimmer stick. On the recommendation of the guy that makes them I got the 5lb version and that’s definitely an arm work out and strengthen the wrists are a few swings. Can I ask where would you stand for ASA? Any other changes you’d recommend for ASA?

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  Před rokem

      Hey Philip, thanks for dropping us a comment! A 5lb Jimmer would definitely be an arm workout, your bat must feel like a toothpick after a few cuts w/ that. For ASA, I (Jason) still stand in the same place in general. It really depends on whether or not the plate counts as a strike or not. If it doesn't, I might back up a bit and have my back foot between the elbow of the plate and the back tip, otherwise I will continue to have my back foot on the elbow. You should always adjust depending on whether or not the pitcher is consistently working deep and or the umpire is calling them deep. Other than that, we try to keep things fairly consistent from ASA to USSSA and only tweak things depending on the height of the pitch, etc.

    So what are the new balance shoes you guys are wearing? Our new season in NC starts in March.

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  Před rokem +1

      Hey Anthony, thanks for dropping us a comment. I (Jason - white jersey) am wearing the New Balance Lindor 1s. Personally, I like them because of the midsole strap to keep the laces from flying around and they are super comfortable. The only downside is the molded spikes can wear down quicker than you would like for a pair of cleats at that price-point. I believe Cam is wearing an older model of the New Balance Fuel Cell 4040s.

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  Před rokem +1

      Hi Roman, if the max pitch height is 6', I would recommend having the tee lower. You want to simulate the height of the ball at point of contact. I imagine your strike zone will be slightly lower due to the max pitch height

    What gloves do you guys use? Also, what position do you guys play?

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  Před rokem

      Hey Derrick, thanks for leaving a comment. If you are referring to batting gloves, I (Jason) wear Bruce Bolts (brucebolt.us/collections/bruce-bolt-batting-gloves). Cam prefers the Rawlings Workhorse (amzn.to/3UclBp3). You can't go wrong with either, go with what feels comfortable. I play mostly centerfield, but can cover any outfield position. Cam is a utility guy, but started as an outfielder who now focuses a bit more on the IF. Let us know if you were referring to fielding gloves and we can drop the details on those as well.
