She wasn't fighting Ochiba though.. Ochiba was spectating.
Yup.
misleading title. Mariko flashback more like it
That song is so beautiful yet so haunting
For context, this is based on the Siege of Mt. Hiei, where Oda Nobunaga (who Kuroda is based on) besieged a mountain with a temple on it because the lord of the mountain sided against Nobunaga. Nobunaga burned the temples on the mountain after winning the siege. There were tales of him beheading monks one by one, however these are considered exaggerations.

After the tenth time they (the Ikko Ikki) broke my peace treaty and marched a bullshit sword ronin army on my provinces in Total War, I started to hope he did way worse than that.
That place don't have Toranaga(Ieyasu)
Mariko is a warrior goddess
Onna-musha.
Mariko has been transformed into yet another of Disney's Mary Sue princesses.
@@DrCruel are you still crying?
@@oiaeyu Who, me? I just had roasted ground pork with rice and teriyaki sauce.
You can have your own funeral for Mariko. Mine was much more yummy.
@@DrCruel what are you even yapping about...
She was fighting an assassin, not Lady Ochiba
The name of the song played in the background?
Wait is that an extended scene? Can't recall it?
thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the name of the background Song
Tears
Man even here it didn't look like Buntaro liked her
Use the demon arts
So, if this scene was 22 years previously.... Then it finally answers the question... How old are Mariko and Ochiba ?... Apparently both are about 30 years old, if the Shogun story is set in 1600, so the two girls were born about 1570 ?
Now you talking about the timeline make me confused because it means it isn't aligned with real history which it was based from because mariko's father was killed on 1582 which mean only 4 years apart from this flashback scene. But the flashback appears she's living with lady ochiba for like almost a decade 🤷
@@cyka7705 Yes, we must remember that this scene was NOT in the book, so, up to a point, this part of the production doesn't need to be absolutely accurate... It is just trying to assist the audience to collect some background information about Mariko, which would not have been available otherwise... It's only a story, after all...
This song please 😢❤
"sakurasakura"
Japanese nursery rhymes with a cherry blossom theme

I don't know what song it is exactly, but it reminds me a lot of Kojo no tsuki and sakura sakura which are two traditional popular Japanese songs, this little hummed tune is perhaps an original composition inspired by these songs
There was ALOT of drama in episode 6😬😬
I've read the book, many times... I don't recall this ANYWHERE in the book..... Did James Clavell write a prequel book, of which I am not aware ?
It was not in the book, it is possibly setting up something that is in the book, you know laying a foundation of her samurai fighting skills.
Book adaptions into TV shows ALWAYS have changes, Im not sure why people are constantly shocked.
@@alisonyoung7289 Yes, agreed... The 1980 version did change the book story, but only by shortening some scenes... But this 2024 version, has also shortened some scenes, but ALSO, has ADDED some scenes, which definitely were NOT in the book... ( e.g. the Cannon firing scenes, and these two girls fighting ) ... So, if they were shortening the production.... WHY then add more scenes which were not in the original story ? It doesn't seem to make sense, considering the obvious transmission time limits.. ?
@@richardruff8712That is true only if you go in with the assumption that a visual adaptation must be as faithful to the source material as possible allowing for time and other constraints. I can understand fans of the original novel (of which I’m one) feeling that way, but in fact that’s not the case at all. This is not SHOGUN, the bestselling novel by James Clavell - any more than the 1980 miniseries was, with its dropping of virtually all of the Japanese political intrigue so central to the original’s story. This is a second visual adaptation done for a worldwide audience (as opposed to a mostly Western audience) in 2024. If you want the original, then read the book.
@@michaelhall2709 Yes, for some weeks now, I have been wondering if they should have called it ... " New Shogun.. VERY loosely based on the book by James Clavell "....?
Not according to the book.

Ahh, the manly women meet. I guess the series will now present the conflict as between Ochiba and Mariko, as opposed to Toranaga and Ishido.

Do you actually watch the show or just piece stuff together from the clips and peoples comments on them?
@@tjoverton7581 Nope, watch 'em from one end to the other. Just to be fair. I signed up for Hulu, which is a Disney company and I never buy anything attached to them.
Reason for this is simple: the casting and shooting of the film are without equals.
Some folks did outstanding work getting that right.
But the screenwriters destroyed the plot and distorted the characters. Just look at me as someone making sure they pay for that travesty.
You are miserable 😂
@@uninterruptedrhythm4104 i dont agree with him but yea screw femin1sm.
In wich episoade its this fight?
The third episode, it says so in the title.
