Another awesome video & the Bob looks sweet, cant wait to see the next mods
Sadly the ECU will not magically recalibrate itself, the fuel range is stored in the ECU as a Street Bob & wont change, whoever told you that was making stuff up
I am just over 14000K's now & I fitted mine around or over a year ago now, fuel range wont change
I have a Dynojet Powervision & I thought surely they could access the ECU & change the fuel range in the ECU but I have been told by Dynojet directly that they cannot access or alter that info, Maybe I just spoke to the wrong person there as I was sure they could, might try them again sometime just to see if I get a different response from someone else possibly?
I also spoke to a Harley tech & was told they cannot access the fuel range parameters either
Im sure there is a way but until I find out I just mostly use the bars on the left side, there is still quite a bit left when it gets down to the bottom bars, can also reset your trip meter/s & see how much you have left each time you fill up
I honestly havent bother calculating it too much, I just ride n fill up & am thankful its not as close to empty compared to the stock tank
I’m in the process of doing the 5 gallon tank on a FXBB. I’d like for the fuel gauge to work correctly.
Thankyou so much made every streetbob owner so so happy with a bigger tank ..
This is the video we've all been waiting for, thanks a million!
100% right
i went with a Street bob because it rides differently as do most bikes. Seat height, ergonomics etc. it all makes a difference. Bottom line the bike you have now is a beast and its customised to how you want it. Congrats Bro
you're dead right mate, initially when I bought the bike I never had the intention of doing half of the mods I've done but little by little it happened. I have just as much fun working on it the bike as i I do riding it.
Top mod for the Street Bob! Looks great! Great vids :)
Great video and editing. Awesome review, bike looks great with new tank.
Thank you sir 👍
Looking good love the evolution of the Bob as you get it to as you want it ride safe and keep them coming
Thanks Andrew there still a fair few things I'd like to do to it yet. More vids will be coming 👍
@@TheGingybeardMan low rider s headlamp cowl would look cool I was going down that route on my street Bob before it got smashed up by a knob in a Honda Civic head on one thing I would definitely recommend from experience is upgrade the brakes especially the back one mine was effective as putting your feet down😬
@@andrewjohnson4475 that sucks man, good to hear you were able to walk away from the crash though. I agree the rear brake is trash could definantly use an upgrade 👍
Thank you for sharing your mods!
Love the channel, thanks brother for your content!
Thanks mate, really appreciate your support 👍
Bike looks sweet with the big tank! I recon HD should do a factory conversion pack for everyone that wants to have a bigger tank on their bike!
Thanks mate, yes I agree with you 👍
Yep
Welcome to
Harley Davidson . No matter which model I've had over the years , factory , cobbled together . I am always throwing money at upgrades or cosmetics.
Now I want a 5 gal. tank for my 19 fxbb .
Thank you .
Nice video .
Thanks mate, you're dead right about throwing coin at them. This is my 3rd Harley which I've done loads of mods too.
alright, second video, I'm in, subscribed!
Thanks for following mate 👍
Love a guy that bags himself out 😂 legend!!!
Everyone will have an opinion. I think the bike looks great! keep having fun
I love those bars!
Same mate, they're reasonable priced too
That tank looks nice good job on that mod.
Thanks mate, I'm glad I did the swap. Now just got to see what happens with the range whether I need to flash the ECM or not.
Nice video
Bike looks kills
Looks great can't wait to do this to my new Softail Standard the tank is the number 1 thing I don't like about it like you said they should ha e came put with the bigger tanks
Thanks mate, no doubt one of my favourite mods I've done to the bike 👍
Badass bike man 👍👍
thanks man, it's a work in progress.
Man that’s beautiful
Thanks mate 👍
Awesome looking bike mate 👍🇦🇺
Thanks Tim 🤘
That's next 🔥
Thanks mate 🤘
Looks even better with the solo seat. I highly recommend the Saddlemen Renegade seat to you, it's much more comfortable than the stock while you keep the bobber look.
Yeah I've heard decent reviews on the renegade seat, I'm also thinking a mustang wide tripper solo seat 👍
A very smart modification. I hope the bike corrects itself without having to pay the Harley tax.
Same mate, fingers crossed 🤞
Just did a ride from Vic to Qld on my fxbb with aftermarket cam, I've spent a lot of time getting the tune right with the powervision and widebands. Cruising on the highways I got 260km and it only took 11.4lt, that gives me almost 300km out of the stock tank if I stick to the open road. I constantly got below 5lt/100km.
Love the FLSL tank on the FXBB! Im sure youll sort out the fuel range calibration/ ecm flash. Maybe Harley Davidson could offer a ECM fix
Thanks man, yeah hopefully Harley can sort it out but either way it's not too big of a deal I'll just base the range off the trip meter.
Looks good 👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks man 👍
Thanks again, love your vids,do you do any travel vlogs of your beautiful country ?.
Thanks Robert, I'm not one to do many vlogs on the bike, my vids are usually of me working on my bike. I've been thinking bout doing some more vlogs.
Hey Gingy, Whiplash Speed Co has a “Ready To Ship” Slipstream seat for the Softail Slim that Whiplash is selling for $399 so you can save some money and get the same seat you had and it’d be shipped immediately. It’s all black with double diamond rider only and it has just black stitching. But it’d save you around $50-80... Just wanted to let you know. Love the tank and I agree 10000% that it should have come with the 5.5gal tank from the factory. I do like the look of the smaller tank but the Slim tank just fills the bike out a bit more and it looks great!
I love seeing you change your bike, it gives me a lot of ideas and seeing it on video make it easier to make decisions.
Keep up the great content!
Thanks for the heads up mate. I'm still tossing up on whether I'll go with a solo seat more comfortable than the stock one, like the mustang wide tripper seat as I'm installing a stretched rear fender and think solo seats suit that style of fender best.
@@TheGingybeardMan well whatever you do I think it’ll look great, the changes you’ve made to your bike have been great. Whatever you do to the bike, I will watch the video! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
@@TaterGrabbinBass thanks for the support mate 👍 ride safe
Every Harley I look at has something I like better on another model. Wish you could pick and choose from the factory. I ended up with a Heritage 114. I don't care for the wire wheels, but too expensive to change. Same with the StreetBob with the small tank. I do love the look of the Streetbob though.
I agree 100% mate, theres always certain things that I like about other models. Would be great if you harley allowed you to design your own bike 👍
Love it
Cheers mate, I'm with you on that 🤘
Wild. In American, you’re getting 133 miles on 3.5 gallons and I’d get 150-170 miles on 3.5 gallons. I ride hard and fast on the highway.
It could probably get more range with a tune when your warranty is out. The stage 1 harley tune mine came with was really rich (13.8 at cruise) but I bought a powervision and re tuned it myself (14.4 at cruise). I have an after market cam that would make much more than the SE cam and I can squeeze 250km out of my street bob, I get about 230 average.
Yeah I definantly need to get it retuned thought I was getting too little kms per tank 👍
The price to have the bars done if done by a dealer or heck, if done by yourself would have been a pretty penny due to the shorter wires, brake and clutch lines would have been near 1K-2k. You made the correct choice by going with the street Bob over the slim.
Yeah man I installed the bars myself. I only needed to extend the internal wiring on the accelerator side. The stock brake line and clutch cable work fine with these bars
So the range doesn't read correctly, but do the indicator bars on the left? Love your bike, thinking about doing a tank swap on mine now.
The bars on the left amd range will read as though it's till running the stock tank 👍
Ever figure out the fuel level reading on the new tank ? Would be cool to sync a bike to a new tank. 3.5 gallons is such a c**kblock
did you have to put on the stock seat because of the Slim tank? I like the stock seat on my 2020 Softail, tried the HD Badlander, but the seating position pushed me back a little too much.
Yeah mate the whiplash seat for the streetbob wouldn't have suited the slim tank so now I'm running the stock street bob seat
I scrolled through the comments, but couldn’t find if the gauge did in fact adjust after running several tanks through the bike? I’m thinking about doing the tank mod as well, as I’m tired of having to carry an extra can with me, or having to stop the group early on rides to fuel. Great videos bub.
Mate the gauge didn't end up recalibrating so you would need an ECU flash to show the correct fuel range, otherwise just set a trip meter and see what the kms is to empty
Love the channel keep up the good work!!
What size wheels front n back? Looks amazing.. I’ve been shopping around and now found what I like and want LOL thanks to this vid👍
I'll be going with the SMT billet big daddy wheels. I'll go with a stock size with the rear wheel and a big 21 inch x 3.5 inch front wheel.
Are these the stock wheels in the video?
@@b6343 yes they sure are, I just have black spoke wraps on them.
Where did u find those handle bars? I love those. What size are they 10” high x 2” thick?
If you have a look on my channel you will see a review vid I did of these bars. I bought them off ebay.
In my honest opinion this is the tank that Harley should put on the softtail models from the factory, I have a 2020 softtail standard and this is a mod I would really consider doing myself, Just because of how it looks on the bike, I would also like to do this mod just so I can change the color of the bike so I don't have the same bike everyone else that buys this bike has. My biggest complaint I have about buying this bike is the fact that I was told that I could make this bike my own and do several different mods on it, However Harley does not make very many parts that can actually change on it to make it my own without completely refabricating parts to fit it.
Check out Doc Harley and ask him about the tank switch and fuel calibration , he's awesome in his knowledge about bike's . The Street Slim looks great as always M8 .
Thanks mate, good idea I didn't think bout shooting the Doc a msg, he's the guru on all stuff harley 👍
@@TheGingybeardMan would like to know what he says also!
Good vid. Have to wonder why the kiddie music intro?
What vest and bag you run bro? I’ve been looking for something similar and can’t find anything
The bag is just a harley davidson single strap backpack and the vest I bought from an Australian website. Here's a link for the vest. www.ridersline.com.au/shop/men/mens-motorcycle-vests/speed-and-strength-tough-as-nails-vest.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4bipBhCyARIsAFsieCw7idAFmfsqlJbMEurxdFXfeU7JP-AB6i-5AydGeHCLne-_xSAQYbwaAi4hEALw_wcB
can you share a link for your headlamp ring trim? Been looking for something similar but can’t find anything
The link I had is expired. You can find it on ebay from china
Hi mate , I have a few questions , I know you have removed the original fxbb tank emblem , tell me is it possible to put that emblem on your new 5 gal tank ? Is the emblem sturdy/hard or you can flex it ?
Second question , can you do the rear tank lift ? This 5 gal tank is much lower near the seat . My Gambler seat will stick out and I would rather try the rear tank lift or fixing the seat than getting the new one .
Thanks , peace ✌🏻
The old tank emblem is pretty solid and I don't think it can be moulded. Im not sure if it follows the contour of the slim tank but it may.
Anything is possible you could certainly mod some brackets to suit a rear tabk lift. This slim tank however sits a fair bit further back than the stock one. So I'm not sure if the aftermarket streetbob seats will work with this tank.
@@TheGingybeardMan Are you saying that there are differences between Low rider , Sport glide , Fat boy , Slim gas tanks ? Because I have seen a few guys with Gambler seat and 5 gal tanks . It sticks out a bit but it sits firm .
Dude that’s awesome, r u gunna change out the front end and do the performance reversed forkes with the duel disk brakes?
Thanks man, I'd love to but thats another costly mod I wnt say never though as I've changed most things on this bike at one stage or another. Next mod will be a stretched rear fender 👍
@@TheGingybeardMan I haven’t seen the stretched fender, that be sweet. So with the new tank I know last time you said your whiplash seat didn’t work so does that mean most of your seat options are gone
@@justindeal539 Essentially the rear end is the same as a softail slim, so any of the softail slim seats will work with this tank.
I’ve just done this tank swap myself, I filled up today after doing 310kms and it took 13.4 liters, so just under 6 left in the tank. No bars left and range was just showing as ‘low’ so I think I should be able to get around 400kms a tank
Thats awesome man 👍 decent milage
The bike stopped after 316kms. Put 2.5L in to get me to the gas station then filled up with 14L. So it’s leaving about 2-3L and is not able to use it, odd. What have you found with yours since you did the mod?
@@defile667 did you use the stock street bob fuel pump and pickup or did you use the right one for the tank?
@@TheGingybeardMan stock street bob pump and pickup
@@defile667 that would be why mate, the stock pump and pickup doesn't go low enough into the larger tank and wnt pickup all the fuel hence not getting the full capacity. I purchased the specific pump and pickup to suit the 5 gal tank and got more milage
will this tank still fit while running an aftermarket seat like a Saddlemen?
I'm not sure, best way to check would be to contact saddlemen and see if the softail streetbob saddlemen seat fits a softail slim as the streetbob rear fender and frame is the same as the slim
03:54 "I dribble a lot..." 🤣
Quick question : Have you gone back to the stock StreetBob solo seat ? If so, is it for the looks? ... because it looks fabulous!
I'm setting mine up for solo riding as well, and am curious about the Saddlemen Renegade S3.
I feel I slip back when accelerating on stock seat.
Yes I'm running the stock seat. I've sold the whiplash seat as it wouldn't work with this larger slim tank as it sits back a little further. I'll probably buy a solo mustang wide tripper seat in the future 👍
@@TheGingybeardMan See? That's what's cool about you : You do all these mods and tests and spend a fortune on parts so we can save a mint !
I thank you, my wallet thanks you, and indirectly (ie without her knowledge) my wife thanks you.
@@JefLeFloch 🤣🤣🤣 call me the crash test dummy. Fortunately for you guys I'm very indecisive and change my mind every 5 minutes.
What about the fuel gauge itself? That reads correctly? It’s just the range that’s not right?
Hey Mitch the fuel gauge reflects what the range reads 👍
what light cover have you got on the front off your bike ?
Was just a cheap one off eBay, I had to trim 5mm off the center for it to tighten up nicely. Here's a link.
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173252764420
She looks a lot like a slim with a FX front end on it, but its a nice looking ride.
should clarify a slim with a FX front end would be sweet/
So when the gauge says empty how many miles are left in the tank ?
Not a clue I never ran the gauge to empty.
I have a 19' slim full stage SE stage 3. Only get about 150 miles (241km) a tank. Interested to see if you are actually going to get 300km / tank.
Here's to hoping at least, I roughly get just over 100 kms per 6 litres so 300km sounds about right 👍
@@TheGingybeardMan I'm usually pretty heavy on the throttle so that may be the majority of my issue lol
@@bap2139 haha and here I thought I was hard on the throttle. A few people were telling me I should be getting more miles per tank than I do 👍
Makes a good bike a great bike, and a boy bike a man bike😂 I'm getting a full rear fender with the tank as well for my size. I got the 21 114
Where did the whiplash seat go?
I sold the whiplash seat when I purchased this tank as the seat wouldn't work with this tank 👍
What is the site for the tank bib? It was a bit muffled.
Three mutts customs on Facebook or Instagram
@@TheGingybeardMan awesome thanks man. That bikes beautiful and those little things make all the difference 👌
will this tank work with the softtail standard???
Yes it sure will
What are the gripes called that you have on your bike?
They're the harley Davidson diamond black hand grips. www.shop.bundyhd.com.au/products/harley-davidson-diamond-black-hand-grips?variant=33035855495254¤cy=AUD&gclid=Cj0KCQiA48j9BRC-ARIsAMQu3WR3UuzRts8hI8zv8y9WJquU00I08V2rdS7vkEje_ypW6dYanYey7a4aArxqEALw_wcB
@@TheGingybeardMan Thanks
How noticeable is the weight difference with a full tank ?!?
It's like 6 kgs... it should not be noticable.
@@rebel_ltz Thanks for the response !! I appreciate the info
You didn't switch instruments with the tank???
Negative, I like the nice clean look without gauges.
Slim is $26,500 in Australia and Street Bob is $22,500
$4000 difference. I reckon the Slim is overpriced in Australia. The Sport Glide is only about another $1000 over the Slim and comes with a lot more gear.
My dealership sells the street bob for $24500 and so do many other dealerships on bike sales.
You're right the Sport glides go for $27750 brand new 👍
And the slim has tank gauges which I hate that’s why the street bob is better
Plus short bars. Yea.
You can change The sending unit for The pump? Got The tip from a girl on Instagram. #FXBBELLA
This does have the correct softail slim sender unit. It doesnt change the reading.

I like your vids, but your intro music has to go ;)
Thanks man, unfortunately the music's gonna stay 🤣🤣🤣
Music is ok Bro!.
@@robertdaley1194 that's the thing about music its subjective. Some people like nickleback whereas I'd rather listen to nails on a chalkboard 🤣🤣🤣
WAY WAY better looking and more mileage per tank.👍
