I noticed that all the audios posted of this song have the beginning cut off. So this is Making Good the complete version from the Wicked Workshop. Enjoy!
:D I like the line: "a certain governer will be there, claiming credit for this magic child of his, boasting how proud he is of ME!" I think it shows how much she wants her father's love.
and for those who think that we only love Kristin and Idina because they were the originals, remember that all the songs from the musical are based around their vocals. We wouldn't be hearing the wonderful songs if it weren't for Idina and Kristin. I'm sure that if others were the originals the songs would be great too, but i couldn't imagine the songs any different
At long long last, I'm making my way Out of here Erase the past And as of today, clean and clear Today I start my quest To find my special destiny Be more than just the best I could I'll be making good Cause in my gut, I know I can do, something great
Huh. I like that there's more Nessa, but I think that the 'vision almost like a prophecy part' is much more striking at the end of the song than at the beginning. You can also hear the Somewhere Over the Rainbow influence much more clearly *g* Thanks for putting this up :)
@elliosmi Ur right, but if SBJ were the first we would have seen a different Elphaba, the way SBJ may have first seen her. We all love Elphie cuz of the way Idina made it and she provided a foundation for the Elphies that came and are to come. The same with Kristin. Glinda was literally made for Cheno, that's why she is blonde in the musical :). I wonder how much different it would have been if Kristin didn't originate Glinda.....
omg i can't believe i just noticed this lol but thank you so much for the video=) it was nice of you to download the whole song for us wicked fans to hear =)
me again, and yet again, tysm for the song lol=) it's kinda cool to make a comparison between some of idina's most recent videos of wicked and this. I love the lyrics to this=)
i think they could of added just a few more scenes with nessa and her sister together as u only really learn about their relationship abit in 3 scenes... but in the book its one of the main things. They could of made nessas charactor much bigger. But i still love it and think its the only musical with no faults!
is it really necessary to constantly compare idina to sjb? first of all, they are both amazing on different levels. secondly, if we're going to compare them, bear in mind sjb did most of the workshopping for the role, but they STILL gave it to idina..... interpret that how you will.
well yes. :p but i also love SJB. besides this is a workshop. as far as i know, workshops are conducted to see how good the song is for the actor or how good the actor is at a certain role.
This is so sweet! I love it! TWAI in truth is better, but this is musically astounding! Complex like no good deed! And so nice for huge fans! Thanks so much! And Idina sounds AMAZING!
No, SJB and Idina were both part of it from the very beginning. There is no "first Elphaba". Idina was the original Broadway Elphaba but not the first to sing all of the songs. Stephen Schwartz mentioned that some songs were written for Idina and others for SJB.
Unlimited, think of it Nessa The future is Unlimited And, don't laugh I have a vision almost like a prophecy, Nessa You can call me crazy True, the vision's hazy But I swear someday there'll be A celebration throughout Oz, that's all to do with me You'll see
I don't know what yet, but when I'm through, just you wait One day see all I've done, they'll tell me you're so wonderful We wish back then we'd understood, you'd be making good Good, I'll be making good Undertaking new inventions or discoveries Maybe find a cure for some disease Maybe make some great injustice cease Or perhaps create a masterpiece Something that astounds Something that amazes Something that has everybody singing my praises
cool then that must make me a pretty big fan just as i've always thought(since i first saw wicked)=)i would like to have this song in wicked as well as TWAI=) too
This song is good but for a different show. I think TWAI sounds better for Wicked because it sounds a little more mature and passionate. I could see Nessa singing this song, maybe, but I still prefer TWAI for Wicked.
I would love to have this song in the play as well as TWAI but i think most people wouldnt like it unless they are big fans because it would be carrying out one part too long but i would so love it.
The shouts of love will burn through the air And what's more A certain governor will be there Claiming credit for This magic child of his, boasting how proud he is of me For doing things the wizard would not even contemplate So they can, go ahead and laugh 'Til their sides are aching But if I do half what I feel inside me waking They'll be cheering after I have finished making good No, not making good Making Great
gotcha...i'm a big idina fan so yea but i definitely agree she sounds awesome here with the exception of a few notes, but i thought she also sounded great on the cd so maybe it's just me...
i love this song :D the wizard and i is better but this is still fantastic :Da nyone know where i can it online? or anyone know where you buy the 5th aniversairy cd in australia because i havnt seen it
i do agree with percy.... but don't you think idina's voice and vocal performance improved so much in between the workshops/readings and the actual finished show... surely if they kept this in she would've improved her dynamics and the song would've certainly matched her personally i think SJB murdered it on the 5th anniversary cd... i now get why they auditioned for a new elphaba... and thus idina was found and elphaba evolved!!! lol xoxo
i luv this song!!!i still like the wizard and i better but this is good 2=) if i got an ipod wich is never gonna happen(because i already have a laptop and a portie dvd player) first things i would put on it would be the wicked songs and this=)
ok you did not need to get rude i was not trying to be rude.. but it's not because the song did not fit idina.. it has nothing to do with it .. it just seems silly to me and it seems like you need to do more research... SJB was not elphaba because she did not have a big enough name it was in the grimerie..(idk it i spelt that right)i was not trying to to be rude... both sjb and idina are amazing actresses and they both can sing these songs.. i bet Stephan decided to go with a more upbeat song..
Very much more like a classic Broadway song... I like it less than The Wizard and I. I think Schwartz was right to replace it. It's a fun song, though.
Wow a special appearance of Idina's rarely heard head voice, I like it
Thank God for people who have the foresight to record special moments like this in theatre history that would otherwise be forgotten/lost.
I'm kinda sad this isn't in the show or at least on a CD. Exactly this way....I love this, it's raw and candid and youthful and innocent. Just,...aww.
Manja Netter its on a 5th anniversary cd. Its Stephanie J. Block singing it
I’m the only one from 2020 aren’t i 😂 like if you see this so i know I’m not lmao or don’t idrc
i’m here in 2021..
@@norah1125 same bro, i rewatched this yesterday
Im so happy this was recorded, because I like this much better then the one on the 5th Anniversary CD, she just has this.. *umph* about her.
I’m a Wicked fan since 2007 and this is the first time I’m hearing this. In 2024 😅
:D I like the line: "a certain governer will be there, claiming credit for this magic child of his, boasting how proud he is of ME!" I think it shows how much she wants her father's love.
Funny cus the original line was bastard not certain governor
Her ‘shots of love with ring through the air’ is just 🙌🏻
Chills chills chills! I absolutely got chills! She is so amazing! Love Idina!
and for those who think that we only love Kristin and Idina because they were the originals, remember that all the songs from the musical are based around their vocals. We wouldn't be hearing the wonderful songs if it weren't for Idina and Kristin. I'm sure that if others were the originals the songs would be great too, but i couldn't imagine the songs any different
Amazing - JUST discovered this. Haha. Love it.
This song is GREAT! it's really meant for Idina's voice
It was apparently written for Stephanie Block
i loooove this song!!
At long long last, I'm making my way
Out of here
Erase the past
And as of today, clean and clear
Today I start my quest
To find my special destiny
Be more than just the best I could
I'll be making good
Cause in my gut, I know I can do, something great
Also her final “making” where she does a deep scoop…I love it.
argh!!! thank you thank you thank you so much for this!!! i love this song!! woo!!! :D Idina is AMAZING!!!! :D xox
Huh. I like that there's more Nessa, but I think that the 'vision almost like a prophecy part' is much more striking at the end of the song than at the beginning. You can also hear the Somewhere Over the Rainbow influence much more clearly *g*
Thanks for putting this up :)
wow!! this is really good! :D thanks for posting it! :D i love Elphaba and Idina!!! :D xox

omg i can't believe i just noticed this lol but thank you so much for the video=) it was nice of you to download the whole song for us wicked fans to hear =)
thnk you vry much for the WHOLE song=)
I can't stop listening to this. I like this better than the Wizard and I
me again, and yet again, tysm for the song lol=) it's kinda cool to make a comparison between some of idina's most recent videos of wicked and this. I love the lyrics to this=)
love it!
THANKS THANKS THANKS, oh my gosh, thaaaanks xD !!!
I love both Idina and Steph's versions, but ...well, Idina is Idina ;)
ok guys this is Idina singing but on the 5th edition soundtrack stephanie sang it
Yeah, it was in the place of Wizard and I. They rewrote it during the SF preview. I think
Tbh i relate a lot to this song tbh.
i think they could of added just a few more scenes with nessa and her sister together as u only really learn about their relationship abit in 3 scenes... but in the book its one of the main things. They could of made nessas charactor much bigger. But i still love it and think its the only musical with no faults!

well yes. :p but i also love SJB.
besides this is a workshop. as far as i know, workshops are conducted to see how good the song is for the actor or how good the actor is at a certain role.
it definitely does!
This is so sweet! I love it! TWAI in truth is better, but this is musically astounding! Complex like no good deed! And so nice for huge fans! Thanks so much!
And Idina sounds AMAZING!
Where was this recorded? San Fransisco tryal show?
Its amazing!! I love it how and when Idina/Elphie goes "and.... don't laugh..."
Thanks for posting
ok this was awesome idinda voice was so good but i don't thinks it fits in wicked but i still love it!:D

Thanks :-D
ya, think of how cool it would be with like a whole orchestra...then it would sound really good! This song is sounds good like this too though=D
is this idina, i like the wizard and i more but this is really cool
that end note is really weird. But i love this song! its so cool
THAT IS AN OPT UP
cool, but i'm still glad they used the wizard and i=) but it's a pretty cool song.
I believe she's saying "contemplate". Hope that helps!
Aloha!
Unlimited, think of it Nessa
The future is Unlimited
And, don't laugh
I have a vision almost like a prophecy, Nessa
You can call me crazy
True, the vision's hazy
But I swear someday there'll be
A celebration throughout Oz, that's all to do with me
You'll see
I don't know what yet, but when I'm through, just you wait
One day see all I've done, they'll tell me you're so wonderful
We wish back then we'd understood, you'd be making good
Good, I'll be making good
Undertaking new inventions or discoveries
Maybe find a cure for some disease
Maybe make some great injustice cease
Or perhaps create a masterpiece
Something that astounds
Something that amazes
Something that has everybody singing my praises
both are really cool(wizard and i plus this), i've even kinda memorized most of the words to this song=)it's catchy lol
They should have kept both songs... They're both great! :)
cool then that must make me a pretty big fan just as i've always thought(since i first saw wicked)=)i would like to have this song in wicked as well as TWAI=) too
me 2, i want to hear SJB sing this song sooo bad=)
Very reminiscent of Meadowlark
totally agree with you chocolatescones...
I love this song why in oz did they pull it out its amazing
Wow! This is amazing! But where did it come from? (not the musical, and I know who sings it, but I've never heard of this version of the piece)
they didn't do any workshops of wicked, they just did readings, and SJB was the first to read and sing the role of elphaba
This song is good but for a different show. I think TWAI sounds better for Wicked because it sounds a little more mature and passionate. I could see Nessa singing this song, maybe, but I still prefer TWAI for Wicked.
I would love to have this song in the play as well as TWAI but i think most people wouldnt like it unless they are big fans because it would be carrying out one part too long but i would so love it.
i know, i've seen that video....but i mean u know when i can't use my computer, and when i'm off it, i've memorized it on my own=)ty though
I agree
I think sometimes when she sounds screechy its alot to do with the recording itself
:D
@scottywrong I agree 100%
i did NOT mean to thumbs up this!
this isn't dee rosicali or however you spell it...it's idina menzel!
when is it comming out??? :]
is idina singing it?
The shouts of love will burn through the air
And what's more
A certain governor will be there
Claiming credit for
This magic child of his, boasting how proud he is of me
For doing things the wizard would not even contemplate
So they can, go ahead and laugh
'Til their sides are aching
But if I do half
what I feel inside me waking
They'll be cheering after
I have finished making good
No, not making good
Making Great
yo ppl it's me again, i love hearing it, i'm so close to memorizing it now=)lol
No it wasnt part of the SF previews it was just the workshop
Maybe on the fansite of Stephen Schwartz? (Composer of Wicked).
I'll search for you :)
where can you here all the original song??I really wont to hear them.
i really like this song..honestly i think i like it a little better than the wizard and i
i mean on the new cd...
i wish they would've kept this in and added wizard and i as well...
and this was just a workshop right?...it wasn't part of the SF Previews right
oh, dear...
i'm sticking with TWAI
xxxxx
Wasn't this changed to "For Good"? Or is this just a whole 'nother song?
gotcha...i'm a big idina fan so yea
but i definitely agree she sounds awesome here with the exception of a few notes, but i thought she also sounded great on the cd so maybe it's just me...
it was originally supposed to be part of the show, but they replaced it w/ wizard and I
oh sorry thats what i ment.
could you send me the link? i can't find :[!
wow i almost like this better than the wizard and i
^^ no that's what i know it says it all in the grimerie......
i love this song :D the wizard and i is better but this is still fantastic :Da nyone know where i can it online? or anyone know where you buy the 5th aniversairy cd in australia because i havnt seen it
at 1:52-1:53 it sounds like there is missing a part?!
it's a musical play right?
yes. Please, please let her go back to musicals D:
really????do u know what name it will be? i want it!!!!lol reply if u can
i watch this every day that's y i have so many comments lol =)
^^ no not because of that it's because they needed a song that explains why elphaba wanted to be with the wizard.. it has nothing to do with sjb!!!
WHY?! Why would they pull this out?
i do agree with percy.... but don't you think idina's voice and vocal performance improved so much in between the workshops/readings and the actual finished show... surely if they kept this in she would've improved her dynamics and the song would've certainly matched her
personally i think SJB murdered it on the 5th anniversary cd... i now get why they auditioned for a new elphaba... and thus idina was found and elphaba evolved!!! lol
xoxo
i luv this song!!!i still like the wizard and i better but this is good 2=) if i got an ipod wich is never gonna happen(because i already have a laptop and a portie dvd player) first things i would put on it would be the wicked songs and this=)
I know, isn't it? i like it a lot, wizard and i is a bit better in my opinion but this one's pretty cool 2=)
I love both TWaI and Making Good but TWaI fits Idina better.
i like some of the melody changes in this version, but i can see why they changed it, it is a bit out of natural range
ok you did not need to get rude i was not trying to be rude.. but it's not because the song did not fit idina.. it has nothing to do with it .. it just seems silly to me and it seems like you need to do more research...
Oh God. I should not have listened to the SJB version before this one. I like Idina, but this one sounds really bad. :(
She sounds horrible compared to Stephanie J. Block.
