- After Jack Paar had finished his stint on The Tonight Show and Johnny Carson had filled his shoes, NBC gave him the prime slot of 10pm on Friday nights. In this new time slot he introduced America to many new talents, including stand-ups. Woody Allen would perform on the show a total of three times, this was his first.
Woody Allen did brilliant stand-up for years. He wrote for some of the biggest names of the day, over the years. A great comedian.
Fun fact: Woody Allen actually did become bigger than the host.
