My Sims 3 sim's wants:
Get a promotion
Woohoo her bf
Improve a specific skill
Learn a new recipe
Fix a broken appliance
My Sims 4 sim's wants:
Buy a dog ball (she doesn't have a dog)
Take dog on a walk (still no dog)
Marry her husband (they're already married?)
Start a club gathering (the club is currently gathered)
Sims 2 and 3 had way better systems for the wants/fears. Which is funny because they came with those features (im pretty sure). Sims 4 had YEARS to recreate their own system in a new engine... but still failed horribly.
@@jvseventeen Yeah, I'm a wants-based simmer so that really kills the enjoyment of the game for me. I ended up switching back to Sims 3 for the time being. I'm constantly in awe of the features I forgot it had.
Feels like when you leave a bad relationship and find someone healthier lol
I’ve said it before and I’ll always say it, ts2 and ts3 stay winning
@@-.jess.- I like the saying "The biggest problem Sims 4 has is that the previous The Sims games exist" lol
Sims 4 is so broken I've had the want of break up with someone for ages even though I broke them up and the other person died it's still there
I hate wants and fears. My sim always gets fear of unfulfilled dreams, and they become angry ever second. 😤 .

Becaus you for forfill wants. Its that simple.
The thing is, the geek trait is the oldest one that she has. Of course the game has lots of wants for that trait. The game sucks at updating things for more recent traits and there's no cross pack compatibility- or apparently compatibility between base game and the other packs
I WISH wants had been based on Sims' personalities at the start. No matter what traits I gave them or what aspiration, they would ALWAYS want a friggin' bee box and a pool light. -_-
mine never wanted a bee box
NOT THE BEE BOX
She only got wants to do ‘geek stuff’ because that’s a base game trait. The sims team only created wants/fears for the base game and high school years.
I only use the wants to farm for points and moodlets. They do get a little deeper. I get ones like "flirt with so and so", "read something" or "gain x moodlet". The active and bookworm traits give me most of my wants. I did challenge myself to go for it every time both my sims wanted to try for a baby on the same day. I quit that when they had twins the other day lol
Could have maybe taken her to Brindleton Bay to look for collectables; maybe she’d have met a stray that would’ve started off her aspiration wants?
But that might have made no difference in TS4 anyway. :/
Will be interesting to see the difference in TS2.
Honestly thought whims and wants were the same thing 😂 I only use wants and fears if they fit in my story line and to gain satisfaction points. The fears are much more annoying to me because not doing them upsets their emotions :/
Lol as someone who ALWAYS. played with Whims I threw tantrums with wants and fears. I'd rather they bring Whims back. I hate idling when I'm in game and completed all my tasks but the wants and fears really are useless and VERY linear since they cater too much to the base game traits. And don't get me started with the dead end job fear
My want is to be able to layer clothes!! Jackets and cardigans over tops and dresses etc… Why is this still not a thing. 😂
Keeping her needs full was part of the problem too. It totally locked out the third want slot.
Isnt that one is usually like clean self, go to the bathroom, eat, etc. Not really a story progressive want
@@Azmina_the_warlock Yes but if you fulfill it it sometimes gets replaced by a regular want. Since vegetarian is a food related trait too it could never throw out a want while the sim's hunger was full. And dance machine only tends to chuck it's wants when fun is low.
@@ovinedreamer1451 true but those are more situation dependen wants. Like if you are in acloub the 3rd slot has you listen to music. Most likely not much important stuff would sporn...
@@ovinedreamer1451 ahh that's cool to know. Makes sense !
I often find that if you use the want refresher potion (in the reward store) to re-roll your wants, you seem to get one's that are less generic.
I prefer the wants and fears in The Sims 2 over 4. In 4, all my sims want to do is listen to music. Occasionally there is a good want like trying for a baby or interacting with another sim. The fears get annoying too.
I turn off wants and fears. I feel like it takes up too much of the viewing area and I don't pay attention to it anyway. Now that they have fears, they are constantly plagued by them and it makes the game annoying. It was really bad, until a recent patch, because no matter how many times you turned them off, they would become active again every time you had a loading screen! I would be in the game 30 seconds (after having turned them off previously) and boom, a new fear! I am so glad they fixed that!
For sims 4, if I've got wants on, I don't dare give them a stereo. Every single one will just be "listen to X music".
Family oriented seems to give the most trait-based wants, as they'll often be stuff like "help kid with homework" or "try for baby with partner". I do miss sims 2 version, because they made sense. They were properly randomized and fitting to the Sim and the situation. Plus, the frequent rerolling meant you had to lock big ones or you'd lose out on a ton of potentially super easy points.
And even then, it doesn't always work, even if they listen to that particular music.
@@grahamdamberger7130 yea its a very finicky system. Especially since they are capable of listening to music while doing other things like painting, homework, etc.. but they're not counted as "listening" unless it's specifically selected by the player, which typically cancels out their other queued tasks.
Which is another thing I dislike.. if they autonomously do something, and I set them up to do another task afterward, they'll cancel the first task. I would rather have to cancel it myself. I hate having to sit and physically watch them do their task, then as soon as they're done, I can finally set up the other thing. That or just have them restart the first task but sometimes that takes even longer because of how long sims take to cancel/start actions.
Especially when it's a teen Sim, who I really am super proud of for autonomously doing his homework... but I've accidentally sent him to play chess with his mom so he takes so long to cancel homework that his mom leaves, then pitches a fit being a moody butthead about how he's too tired and stressed out to finish the assignment. 🙄
Wants and fears are a real pain! Please do Sims 2, I’d love to see that!
I also like to play somewhat realistically but being in control, so sometimes it's tedious as some wishes are useless and don't make the Sim progress. By the way, you are the only CZcamsr Simmer who watches the same videos over and over again. 😚
I hate fears. If I don’t fullfill their dreams or wants they become rebellious and the task I want them to do they will get mad and walk off
"I like to use my sims as puppets and Im the master" Lol
Wants are based off what your sim does - so if you trigger her other traits, such as make her dance, or eat some vegetarian food, it would have triggered the other traits wants, but you kept doing just computer geek based things, so it only triggered those.
i’ve been kind of struggling lately but your videos have been really helping your voice is so calming
I liked whims, even if they needed some work. The ability to cancel dumb ones was key.
Wants.. well, I was sad to have to disable them because it's sooo bad, and then you have fears to deal with.
Some of the special geek interactions they can only do with another geek.. Like Bros giving bro hugs and bro bumps to other bros.
I feel like you picked her traits and expected her to have the wants you wanted her to have (mostly based on needs, like income, hunger), but she had no experience (related skills) with anything related to her traits.
Never been around animals, but is an animal lover, you expected her to want to adopt an animal but moved to an area not known for strays. Does she even like cats or/and dogs?
Never cooked, never had a meal, but is vegetarian and you expected her to crave a veggie meal that requires skill to prepare. Does she like cooking?
Little known fact: wants are related to skills and likes. The more skill a Sim has in piano and the more they like the piano, the more they want to discuss music related things and play the piano.
If you try this again, try giving her related skills and likes and I'm sure you'll see a different outcome.
i had to turn wants and fears off, not because of the wants (i never paid attention to them in the first place and just completed them accidentally) but the fears are so damn annoying. my sim thinking they got a dead end job even though they just went in on their first day.
Or when they get the dead end job fear right after getting a promotion. 🤔
they do get wants with low needs so theres that
depending on the sim, i've gotten: have a kid, complete a work task, get a promotion, earn X amount of money, comeplete an aspiration milestone, break up with partner, i think find a job? so some of the wants do progress the game but most are just listen to music and trait-based discussions.
also the wants reset after sleeping and going to work/chool
As a person who loves games and is in a relationship with a gamer I think the video game Wants are pretty accurate Lol. Some gamers will game for hours at a time, forgetting to do things like eat.
The wants are a little more dynamic than you were hoping for, they bounce off what is around your SIM, what they've been doing recently, and skill based traits. They can be fun, leading to jobs, skills, relationships, even divorce. However they are a long play thing and don't work well in isolation. I do think you were a little harsh on them, they weren't designed to be taken as a solitary game play experience, more a gentle nudge to helping you to develop the sims
id love to see you do this in sims 2!
Meanwhile the wants I get for my happily married Sim with the Soulmate aspiration: ask *insert sim name here* to be boyfriend/girlfriend DESPITE HAVING NO ROMANTIC ASSOCIATION.
The same Sim had a townie flirt with her on her wedding day too, so now her husband constantly gets the “talk over relationship fears” fear and then is angry for days afterwards. It sucks. All because of some unwanted, stupid action by a townie while I looked away for a quick second. I wish NPC sims and our sims didn’t have the autonomous ability to have romantic interactions with others if they’re already in a committed relationship.
See, I kind of want the drama and chaos that comes with storylines like 'fell in love with a random townie on your wedding day' but there should be some logic behind it like an attraction system or they had a really great conversation and sparks flew- rather than some random whatever reason. Is that better? Idk
Some trait sseem to be omre want focused, some need promptinh. Animal friend wont really pop up until you start interating with animals. And also a lot of needs come from having low needs and moods being variable. Cry in bed is a common one. Cook a meal wont appear until you hungry or if you are aready cooking.~The nerd trait is so overwhelming in needs.
Hahaha didn’t even know they had changed lol 😂
We need some more funny/raunchy shit. Honestly this is what we crave. You truly are the Sim whisperer. You know we love it when you do that. 😂
KEEP it OG, G. ❤
“She’s spent all day just playing on the computer” are you controlling MY life?
I'm going through all your vids to catch up on all that I missed. My boyfriend heard you saying how you like to be a puppet master over your sims' lives and he just said: "I knew she was some type of dominatrix!"
I believe they also get wants related to their needs. So, if they have low hunger, they might get a want to cook food, for instance. So that might be why she didn't get any vegetarian related wants
I want to play with wants and fears and pretend that it's actually things the Sim wants to do... But they get annoying and counter intuitive. Family oriented Sims who are married to their soul mate often want to flirt with neighbors and friends. Sims in their dream career path randomly feel like it's a dead ends job (and the option to talk or regain passion for the job isn't there when the game says it should be)
Id love to see the comparison between the wants/wishes/whims systems through the franchise! Thank you for making this since the update!!
I definitely enjoy the wants and fear more in Sims 2. I also like that Sims 2 had the bar that showed like their overall satisfaction or whatever it was called. When Sims 4 switched from wims to wants/fears, I noticed my sims always became frustrated and angry even when I was maxing their aspiration and career, so I focused more on the wants/fears, but it was the same thing constantly. My sim liked hip hop music, so that's all she wanted to do was listen to hip hop... which is fine... but it was boring. Like you mentioned, I had hoped more would come up related to my other traits or aspiration. I found in Sims 2, if I followed the wants a lot, I would end up doing something I hadn't thought of yet which was fun, gave it a sense of adventure and independence.
They only want to listen to music. I want the real wants.
I had to turn my wants and fears off because I would let them do them but they would never tick off and then my sim would be "uncomfy" from not completing them, OFF YOU GO cause I aint got time for that in my game while I'm trying to cause drama
Yeah, the Wants and Fears didn't get much effort put in them. I only use them if I don't want to cheat satisfaction points.
If she has a job as a programmer then wouldn't the skills she was earning be the exact ones she would need?
Love how you're slagging your sim for playing a video game while you're playing a video game. 😂 Meanwhile we're watching someone playing video games 🤯
If you have the patience, time, energy, etc (for I wouldn't myself) do the sims entire life doing nothing but wants and whims, from birth to death.
Can’t wait for the next episode of your fashion saga loved that one lovely lady 💋 👗 👠 👒 🎩
I really enjoy your videos
Sometimes they go off your needs too, because when my sim is tired, I get a want to go to bed, or when they need the toilet, they want to go to the bathroom. But I think they really go off your game play and not so much as the sim, like it does but also your game play lol. Just like fears happen when something happens to your sims.
Wants and fears are pissing me off in the state they are now. One of my sins have constantly want to listen to music and I mean constantly. Doesn't matter how many times I fulfill it, they spear like two more. That sim doesn't even have any trait connected to music...
With the same want my other sims literally can't fulfill their want for listening to music with any object in the game. I don't know how to fix that. Also just gotten promotion at work and getting fear of job without perspective (or something like that, don't remember word to word).
The fact I can't cancel wants that annoy me or I just have different plans for my sim...
I really wished this system worked better. Like in the Sims 3 at least
You mean wanting to play video game after video game after video game isn't normal?? LOL
You should try this with sims 3 as well!!
I absolutely hate wants and fears. Most of the time they're pointless and don't seem specific to the sims. Every single one of my sims want to do the same thing over and over. I'm so sick of them wanting to listen to different radio stations. Even if they don't have one. The want to have a child keeps getting fulfilled even though they haven't had a child. I don't know if that's a bug other players have experienced, but it happens constantly for me. It also seems like every job I put my sims in they don't like and are constantly tense and upset because of it. I have to constantly regain passion before they go to work. I've switched jobs several times for several Sims. They hate everything.
Fears are not random and happen way too often to be enjoyable. Each of the base game fears will pop up as soon as the refresh time is over
8:57 yeah that's what I tell myself everyday
I had to turn that shit off I’m trynna get my housewife into being an influencer and she would be too angry to make videos bc her wants weren’t being fulfilled
I exclusively play a wants-based rotational game but cannot play it without mods lol there's a lot of "filling in" I find I have to do though, when it comes to relationships and stuff. An annoying one is the want to ask someone to be bf/gf but it doesn't align with their cas orientation and they barely know each other. interested to see this experiment though
I think the geek one is pretty realistic, all I want to do is play video games too 🤣
Thats mostlikely simply a oversight. The devs ar humens Not mashins
@@indedgames4359 yet another one.
I have no idea why they replaced whims with wants. Seems the same to me and you can't get rid of wants, right? Which makes less sense because your Sim apparently just NEEDS AND WANTS to listen to Winter Holiday music.
It's really silly to see the same wants popping up all over again like who IRL wants to spend their time on their phone and computer games all the time ? 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I never use the wants and fears. The video game thing drives me nuts. I usually lock the computer unless I need to use it for a practical reason. So boring when they just sit on the computer all day.
I did this to my sims for like a day and they became friends, got together, kissed, woohooed, and after they did that the one girl broke up with the other 💀
Also by cheating the needs you kind of broke the wants a bit! If she's never hungry then you can't expect her to really want to cook a meal etc!
you should try this with ts3 after you do ts2
Wants and fear are one of the worst things of the game. While I was experimenting with them I got so many listen to music stations because I made my Sims likes and dislikes about music. So I learned that it was not only based off the stronger traits and relationships but also their likes and dislikes. So despite the update for wants that fears it's still a terrible addition to the game and I'll never use them ever again.
I hate the sims fears. It's damn annoying. Them they are screaming and running away in the dark etc.
Lol. That’s funny not annoying. 😂
@@cindycristobal8738😂 but I don't know how to make the fear go away 😅
I do play wants based but I agree without mods it isn't possible. I use pleasant sims recommended mods. The sims team has added no new wants so yeah. I tried to play without mods but all they did was to constantly hear music.
i think you can only discuss captains with another geek. Also with the family oriented trade you might get the want to get kids but I'm not sure..
I despise wants and fears in TS4.
The issue with wants in ts4 is ....ther reused whims becaus they would Not have enough time..however that ther Taged for traits its definatly a step up and i use them as more of a Basis of what a sim wants to Do but i decide the full meaning.
Ts4 is by designe you control everything. Its for the controlfreak players.
I hope the New Growing together pack and ubdate adds more to it and mayby sone fixes becaus some stereo wherent corectly tagged from packs to fullfill wants
My wants and fears are broken, they just refuse to show up lmao which is annoying when trying to get points and get rid of fears
The tooltip fails to tell you this but you can only Debate Captain with another Geek sim.
If you let their needs get low, they get wants to resolve those.
Well it is more realistic this way lol
I turned off wants and fears, because the fears get annoying 🤣 they don't have any real context - you're afraid of unfulfilled dreams the entire time I'm trying to level up your career and IMMEDIATELY switch to fear of a dead end job the second I get you there 🙄 AND stupid sims 4 won't even let me burn your house to the ground for your insolence. Fuck. Lol
Travel screens make me sleepy 😮
How do you turn their wants off? This would help me so much in gameplay!
I wonder if the fist trate has more dominance to wants
This is a random thing I want waffle fries
valid want
Me toooo
I had to turn off wants and fears. They irritate me so much, especially the fears. They make no sense.
I had a married sim autonomously have a first kiss in front his wife. Which was a complete accident.
The irony of bitching about wanting to play video games for hours...
I don't think that they made any wants for DLC content (like the Dance Machine trait)
Is anyone's game acting up? Mine is an absolute mess. I can't even play it. For example it has the pop up when you get a new pack open on my home screen. But it's every single pack I already own, over and over. My MCCC suddenly is gone, and so is my better expectations. Need help, Brit!
Figured it out, nobody panic!
Huh I’m early 56 mins ago
I tried doing this a few months ago and my sim ended up with 43 bee boxes.
LOL
Sims 2 is way better than this. It makes sense why I hate ts4 as much as I do since I am a wants/fears type of player. These wants are extremely shallow.
Pleasure sims also have extremely shallow wants. As do fortune sims most of the time. Sadly our favourite simmer chose really shallow traits for this test so nothing of substance came about. This sim is essentially the sims 4 version of a pleasure sim. Sims 2 definitely has a better fear system though.
@@ovinedreamer1451 Agree to disagree on that one. It’s just the AI system in TS4 that doesn’t make sense. Geek shouldn’t overpower all those other traits.
Her name is "Hah-leen-ah"
@Whiny Brit i love your vids they give me so many ideas to play out in the sims xx
