- It’s 2021, and the FBI is investigating widespread match fixing allegations in Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
We’re not talking about players throwing meaningless matches for a few hundred bucks, we’re potentially talking about highly organized syndicates paying players to throw professional matches.
All the details are not public yet, but if the initial reports are true this could shake the CS and the Valorant world to its core.

This isn't the same thing as IBP, this is organized crime, not even comparable, these players had contacts with some gambling websites and exactly planned how and when to throw matches.
This has been happening for a past few years in the MDL, but Valve and the TOs can't be bothered to give a shit.
Some good journalists had been tracking them for past few years and collecting all the data and the investigation accelerated and got traction when ESIC got involved, now FBI joined its basically game over.

My guess. They'll try and make an example of someone throw 5 years at them, get them to take a plea deal to testify against the people paying to throw and thus go after the esports betting sites.

This was a huge thing in professional sports for a long time before the government stepped in. If there is money to be made people will risk their entire lives and careers to make it happen. It sucks and there’s a reason Pete Rose is banned from baseball for life and is one of the most successful players of all time.

Very, very good. we should have more competitive integrity checks across all esports. I swear, in some of these matches it's too obvious that one of the teams is just inting it incredibly hard. And then hearing Fl0m say they do it for 2k a pop, these kids have literal mental deficits if that's what happened. Jesus christ people, lets try to get some decency back into things.
