- It’s no secret that right now North American Counter-Strike is a little worse for wear.
Between COVID ousting all of our orgs, VALORANT snagging our up-and-comers, and the fact that our last truly consistent roster was a bunch of Bizon-worshipping Brazilians, it’s starting to seem as if real, farm-raised, locally-sourced Counter-Strike is, at least for now, dead.
Sure, the casual player base is booming, but it is starting to feel as if there are fewer and fewer places where the diehard try-hards can take root and grow.
I mean, there is one place . . . but the guy who runs it spends a lot of time talking about d**ks.

Aaaand they stream their games live, which as an IGL is great to watch, to see how they do things. For those who are experiend in the game (say >3-4k hours, level >8 faceit, some team exp) but still have a lot to learn to get to a good level of competition (team play, not pugs) watching his stream is great. There's a large gap between being good at the game (say top 1-2% of all players) and someone like fl0m whose team is more like in the top 0.0001%. I've learnt a lot from watching his team games with mythic.

Love fl0m, I've watched him ever since the LG days. Like 4 years ago I also met him in a MM while he was on his smurf. I didn't even believe it was him but the guy I was queued with had played with fl0m at lans in the past and actually recognized him. Really cool moment, and fl0m dropped like 45 kills and hard carried. Also met him during the MW beta, got a ground war game with him and anger on my team, and against Shroud and his gf I believe. And now I have on record a video of me killing shroud, lol.
Seeing a video about flom makes me cry. I've followed him for so long, he is a legend amongst men. Nice to see some recognition for what he's done and is doing.

I always respected flom I used to watch him back in 2012/3 in his dark little room when he only had 150 - max 400 viewers and been like that for years and he still stuck through with the game and streaming. Look at him now. Respect
I feel that in regards with Valorant, it's not a CS killer that people have tried to call it but in reality helped boost the CS community by drawing in new crowds from other games into tactical shooters. Once people learned that Valorant is like CS, they ventured into CS.

actually, Fl0m used to play in the NHL. He was on the Flames I think, he never played in a regular-season game tho. He got injured in a pre-season exhibition game shortly after being picked up in the later rounds of the draft. I think it was a leg injury but I'm not sure. He also originally played CSGO on the PC2 platform (the next generation of PC) but due to sponsorship reasons switched back to the dated PC1 platform.
