I once told someone that 8L35 is an upgrade from MT5402. He disagreed saying MT5402 is better that 8L35. So we put the BB58 and SLA043 on timegrapher, with multiple positions. The MT5402 was all over the places, +1s here, -2s there, +6s here, -4s there, while 8L35 was consistent at +2 to +3s at any positions, much higher amplitudes too. We then opened up the case to look at the movement. 8L35B is beautiful, MT5402 is no better than an ORIS SW200 based movement. He then pointed out MT5402 has 70hours PR, I told him: son, a bigger gas tank doesn't made a car a better 1...

Bro, I am a Photographer and your Photos are sharp, crisp and I love love the Blurry background (Bourcha).
I am also a SEIKOHOLIC and I have watched tones of videos online and you are the 1st Channel that I know of that brilliantly makes a Watch Review so Cinematic.
Most YT watch reviews are mundane and 2 Dimensional- essentially a guy talking while holding a watch.
Those photos told a million stories. I also love that you are a Family Man, An outdoors man and you spend time with your son and you are physically fit. Am American and those Adjectives are rare in our society.
Now back to SLA057: I Love MM300 but it's HUGE for my wrist but it's also cheaper than the SLA057 and have been leaning towards the MM200 at 42mm but you got me searching for this puppy. 4 G's is a lot of dough tho.

Nice review from a long term ownership perspective! I’ve always loved dive watches and loved the look of the SKX007. However I quickly out grew its limitations and shortcomings. Since then, I’ve owned a black bay gmt, omega SM300, Seiko lx spring drive diver SNR045 (to bulky), and every Seiko diver in between. It wasn’t until I purchased the SLA055 (ice blue version of this watch) that I found “my watch”. The finishing and execution of this watch is beyond compare. The symmetry of the lume and an inconspicuous date window (love the symmetry of no dates, but also love having the date). Mine runs about 8 seconds fast per day, which is acceptable, but more importantly consistent. The only downside is this watch has ended my journey of finding that perfect diver from a “the hunt is more enjoyable than the kill perspective”.

Thanks for the well done review, I am a similar type of Seiko enthusiast who sees the 055 as a grail(thanks Mr. McMahon)but only owns beloved samurai and turtles so far, your great footage really shows off the striking 057 colors and fantastic finishing. As someone with similar watch history, and a vacant spot next to my snowflake, this review gives me confidence. It really helps to know how you explained your use of your 057 as part of your real life owners review.

After watching your video I really fell in love with this watch. I could not find this one at the time at a good price on the secondary but I did manage to find the SLA055.
Wow when I got the watch in person it blew me away even more so than in any of the videos. I was so impressed that I had to have the SLA055 also in which one finally came up at good price and I grabbed it. These things looks as good or maybe even better in some ways than my Rolex's. Great video!

Hi, great revue for this underated seiko, it was my best buy on 2022 and the best seiko diver for my point of view, I own a SLA025 for example and this one is better in lmost any category...and 200m is enough for me.
Great watch, my only issue is the color of the lume is to green and machine not so well with the watch it was the same for the 025 and others I prefer the direction of the spb317 who is more white .
But for the rest is an absolute beauty! .cheers😉🥂

Your sla057 is a stunner. Glad to see the polished finnish has held up so well.
Think I am going to be very happy with the 055.

This one is definitely a nice watch, would have gone for this over BB58 any day. I'd compare this, design wise and style, more with Planet Ocean than Seamaster (have both the PO 8500 42 mm and Seamaster 8800 black). Currently I am thinking of going for Seiko GMT SPB381 or SPB383 as I really like the style and the size, the much costlier one is bigger (and costlier). Good choice mate.

I too am considering selling my Black Bay 58 for this or the 055. The more I learn about the SLA models the more I feel silly for ignoring them and getting Tudor. Don't get me wrong, the Tudor is great but I can see the better finishing on all the videos and I know that 8L movement is nicer than the MT movement in the Tudor.

I agree with the reviewer. My favorite watch to wear. Though not on its straps. I wish it came with a bracelet. I wear mine on a rubberband style band with the octo clasp from zulu diver.

Ok I’m leaving another comment way later. I think this vid was the final straw for me and now I can’t stop perusing Seiko watches 🤣
I just received my SRPJ09 field styled watch in absolute perfect condition, so far it’s keeping time 🤣. The main complaint people have of this watch is readability since it’s all blacked out and the lume is not indicative of Seiko’s typically bright lume that is offered on other watches. Don’t care, I’m obsessed and hopefully will be buying more Seiko. To add, always have been a fool for metal wrist bands but am digging the way Seiko looks in general with straps. I was blown away by the quality/craftsmanship right out of the box.

      @KentuckyMan30  Před 8 měsíci +1

I agree about the finishing compared to the BB58. I don't understand the desire for these things to come on bracelet though. Bracelets on these vintage Seiko diver designs look so out of place to me. All the OG's came on rubber, which fits the character of these. Then again, I hate bracelets anyways so I'm biased. Haha.

Lovely images and very interesting to hear your views of the watch! I recently came across this reference and became intrigued and had to try it on. There's one available from an AD near me, and while a lovely watch, the misaligned bezel was a bit of a let down at this price point. Also I noticed that the ceramic bezel insert was very slightly matte, and was harder to wipe clean of smudges than for example a Rolex bezel. It's holding up pretty well, actually. I can see some micro scratches when I bust out the macro lens, but I've been wearing it almost everyday for 9 months at this point. The wrist roll footage in the video was taken days before publishing this and at that point I had owned it for 8 months.

Sold it a year ago and ended up getting a SPB317 for a while. Sold that at the beginning of this year and have just been wearing a SARB033 ever since. Haha.

I loved the BB58. It's darn near the perfect diver and the proportions are perfect in every way for my wrist, but for some reason I just couldn't connect with it. Not sure why. The SLA057 has that 'X' factor for me and Seiko design language that I love. Also, there's a good case to be made that this particular reference might be somewhat collectable in the future as there are only 600 made (an actual limited edition from Seiko for once). Haha. This has already happened with the SLA017 to an extent too. Either way, watch choices don't always make sense. The heart likes that the heart likes. :D
