Scott has more of a relatable, everyman taste in games than a serious, artsy critic taste, but i don’t see that as a bad thing. Both kinds are good and enjoyable for different reasons and serve their own niche
Agreed. There were many years where I felt like I had to play or buy all of the "critically acclaimed" games, and I'd find myself trying to play games that I just didn't enjoy. There are times where I want to get into a deep single player experience, but there are many other times where I just want to pick up and play tecmo bowl or Dr. Mario for hours on end. The point of playing videogames is for personal enjoyment.
Honestly it was the more popular picks usually that made me cringe lol.

Well he's stated before that Mario Galaxy is his favorite game of all time(and it really is worthy), and there were some moments where he put gameplay of Galaxy or Galaxy's soundtrack, so I guess it makes sense.
But yea I get where you're coming from. He excites you by subtly hinting at one game, and then gut-punches you with something else.
(Granted the first thing he said about 2007 was Galaxy, as in it was the absolute winner, no questions, and therefore there was no time for the music to really hint at anything)

I never played BOTW and Odyssey when they came out but I played both of them last year, I didn’t beat BOTW because I borrowed it from my friend but what I played was pretty good, but oh my god… Odyssey was magical… instantly one of my favorite games of all time, it’s only about 20 hours but I have 100+ hours on the game spent just running around and exploring. It’s incredible.

I realize this video is now over 2 years old. But seeing the games that come out for 2013 brings me BACK. Granted, it's not like I was a kid then or anything, I was 26. But still, that year had PHENOMENAL games that I STILL play. I played link to another world on 3ds very recently, bioshock infinite on PC like... 7 months ago. And right after I played last of us 1 and 2. I got into super mario 3d world really late, pretty recent actually after I replayed super mario 3d land. That year was just SO good for gaming and all of them hold high replay value. Maybe because I'm older and I prefer handheld and PC gaming due to the convenience, but these games just give me that fuzzy feeling.
