I feel too many people judge on the video, but the song is wonderful and joyful. I love the First Nations language, can’t wait for indigenous culture to be celebrated on the Eurovision stage.

The video is a little awkward haha. The duo are two friends (both guys) who embrace their feminine side. Also the 0.618 reference is to the Golden Ratio

Electric fields have an absolutely outstanding performance and a super catchy song "2000 and whatever" on youtube from Australia Decides 2019 where they got 2nd place. The vocals are outstanding and I really recommend reacting to the performance of "2000 and whatever" after eurovision ends, it's really worth a listen. Love your honest reactions! ❤

Milkali actually means blood. It’s part of Zaachariaha’s native language which one of 400 languages that make up First Nation culture here in Australia.
Video is on the duo’s CZcams says it is a lyric video. I know they are keeping their staging cards close to their chest. But it will probably have elements of Zaachariaha’s art as part of it. (Zaachariaha is the person on the left and sings majority of the song)

Oh yes, the First Nations nonsense, pushed by the United Nations.
The thing that causes division in Australia. Best way to cause segregation is to focus on people’s colour.
Well done Australia, well done, not.

The Anangu peoples who live around Uluru, in Australia, use the work Milkali to mean "one blood" - indigenous and non-indigenous people working, living along side of one another and sharing each other's culture. The 0.618 is the Golden Ratio. It can be applied in various ways including with the human body. One example is the navel is said to be calculated at the Golden Ratio, according to daVinci's Vitruvian Man.

It is a lyrics video. They would had represented Australia in 2019 but ended up being second in the finals of their country. They are really awesome live though and they sound exactly like in the video.

      @jsoderba Před měsícem +5

Yeah, SBS runs on a shoe string budget and can't fund a proper video. (The only reason Voyager had a professional video is that the WA state government funded it as a tourism ad.) This is probably also why they keep picking runners-up from previous years' selection shows - saves them the expense of producing a show every year. It seems to always be an open question every year if they will be able to scrape together the funding to pay the ESC participation fee.

No it mean's one blood. And it's Fleetwood Macs and the Janets. This is pretty much them, what they do - wait until you see them live. I think everyone has pointed out that Zaccahria is in fact a guy and also an artist. They are amazing live. We had a referendum before Christmas and I think that is what inspired this song.

It was Zachariah’s father. An artwork he created was called milkali. It started the process to their song.

  • @beahill4667

Okay, so... the 0.618 is the golden ratio. It is found a lot in nature and is related to the Fibonacci sequence (give it a google because its really interesting). Also, the duo is made up of Zaachariaha Fielding (left) and Michael Ross (right). They both go by he/him pronouns i believe but embrace their feminine side and are not romantically involved ( as the kiss may suggest) just very close friends. The language is Yankunytjatjara, only spoken by around 600 people (2021 census) to honour Zaacharaia's community and Australian Aboriginal culture.
I personally love this song, the voice, the meaning and the digeridoo! However, it is not praised as highly at the current moment in time (9th of April) in the eurovision community (27th in the odds and 32nd on the eurovision scoreboard app where people get to place their individual top 10s and points are then tallied together for an overall ranking). Many are also unsure if it will even qualify for the final! I hope it does as I love it and hope it gets a spruce up with the staging in Malmö!
    Love this series!!

I love that you love it! I knew you would. The reference to 0.618 is based upon a Fibonacci mathematical relationship of perfection. So spill the tea on reality and 0.618 means toss out the idea of perfectionism and embrace things as they are. At least that's my understanding of what they are getting at. Yes, this is a lyrics video. Most entries from Australia (except Guy Sebastion back in 2015) have gone for a visual or lyrical experience and this is auditory with the goal for people to put on their playlists and bop along to the feel-good tune. Rumour has it that they also want the staging to be a surprise. The moment when they kiss is representative of their souls meeting and falling for each other outside of what they look like to the world. They want the message, invisible to the eye, like the souls meeting, to be what people fall in love with. Hence why they chose a lyrics video. And like everyone else, I didn't like it at first. It seemed strange yet the more I thought about it and really listened to it, the more I came to appreciate how unique and true to its purpose and meaning the video really is. Anyway, I hope you get better soon and please stop feeling bad it is taking you time. You will heal quicker and faster by appreciating the small improvements everyday. Just remember this when it comes to people around you "Those who mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind".

Voyager were so fantastic last year, I've worried about this year. This video is simple and emotive, I love it. Really excited about the live staging. This is a beautiful song. Very positive, strong, upbeat. A standout single for radio too. Hope this puts Australia high on the left of the board.

I think you are correct in saying they wanted a video that was very "stripped back". I think sometimes the official videos can sometimes be so entertaining and visually spectacular that the performance at Eurovision seems lacking in comparison.
I think they want the focus on the song itself and also their live performance when they are finally onstage.
I feel like the song has been a little bit "slept on" as a lot of the fandom weren't keen on the "official video" (which was really just a lyric video), but I believe they should win people over at Eurovision itself.
