I just celebrated doing ten diamond pushups in a row. Twenty minutes later, I saw this!😂 And it makes perfect sense. Thanks so much!
Nice work regardless! Just open the grip up about 6-8 inches going forward and you are good to go.
Dude that's awesome,I can only do 8. But I'm getting there🎉
@@angelnoe3505 that’s good progress G, just did 30 in a row and man, $hit is burning like hell
Same here 😭, I've been doing 40 diamond push ups every day. To find out they only work out ur triceps
@@BenUoverand chest bro, I can feel the squeeze in the chest
I’ve been doing diamonds a while. But when I tried doing it as you described, I immediately felt the difference! I truly needed this video! Thanks a million!
Glad it helped man! 💪🏻
I was about to curse u out.
But you make perfect sense,
close grip is better and feels more natural on the wrists.
Right, its not that diamond is wring, IF you can do them comfortably without wide flaring of the elbows, but a lot of people cant
Thanks man. I weigh 222 and diamond push ups are hard for me to get past 6. Not in shape just yet but working towards it.
YO I ALSO WEIGH EXACTLY 222
Keep GOING Brotha! One day, you'll be happy at what you have been training for!! 👍👍
@@aero3606 Thanks buddy. I appreciate it!
diamond pushups be playin wit my shoulder blades to idk why
Yeah. I might stop doing them. My rotator cuff kind of hurts when I do them.
@@xmanofficial same
Listen to your body. Some of these "experts" seem to have different ideas and concepts about what is what. I do the close grip p'ups on my knees sometimes and I still see results. Do what's best for u❤
I think each exercise has it's purpose, that includes diamond push ups,
There are obviously bad exercises but you can't go wrong with doing the ones that work right.
Diamond push ups will work on your triceps and clavicular portion,
Cobra push ups are also efficient for this.
If you have the mobility for them they are fine, but there isn't any magic in forcing the triangle as opposed to the fingers being a couple inches apart. I have seen a lot of people forcing the triangle even though its uncomfortable for them as if there is some kind of special benefit that you dont get if the fingers aren't making a diamond.
Good call on the clavicular head. I Also like pushups with feet elevated to work the clavicular head and serratus.
Glad I found this, my elbows felt wrong every time I tried diamond pushups
It’s common. They are fine if you feel comfortable with them, but they larger better than close grip while not forcing a diamond
Soon as i did this grip and rememberd to keep elbows in and not flared out i finnally felt my triceps burning thanks for advice!
Sweet! Your welcome. Glad it helped 🤝
Jerry, so good to see you putting out content again! I missed your stuff and I’m excited to see what 2023 brings for you. I’m 41, so watching you inspires me. More content on nutrition, workout programs, fat loss/muscle building, etc. all good for me!
Thank you! I am committed to at least 1 new video each week, plus I will be posting podcast clips to YT also soon, so should have plenty of good stuff coming. I appreciate the support
You can do the same with diamond grip too, your elbow mobility needs improvement then
Thank you. Will try this tonight!!
THANKS FOR THAT CUZ I HAD BAD EXPERIENCES WITH DIAMONDS! SOMETHING DIDNT FEEL RIGHT!
Yeah man, they force the elbow into an off position.
That really works ❤I tried close grip instead of diamond and it felt harder and more engaged. Thanks man ❤
Glad it helped! And you're welcome
Thanks brother.
Thanks sir, this will help me so much.
I hope you have a great day.
Thank you, you too!
U can do diamond push ups without flaring. If u retract the scapula , u wont get flared. With on top protraction. If u focus on the shoulderblades movement. U never ever gonna flare. NEVER!
I naturally do close grip pushups with weights thanks.
These are good, keeps the wrists neutral
Thank you so much sir for this beautiful breakdown! I definitely agree and have just put the close grips to use. I think diamond pushups just look cool when you're doing them, but the close-grip pushups bring your triceps right where you need them!
Put your feet together. You've never worked as hard. Forces you to push in sync without the advantage of the body being balanced because your feet are spread
Thanks man, it really works❤
You’re welcome, glad it’s working for you 💪🏻
That’s why I only feel one shoulder moving
This is partially correct.
If done with improper form (flared elbows) then close grip is better for triceps.
If done with proper form then it is significantly better.
Thanks
Good info 👍
Thanks 👍

Thank you
I dont have any studies but to me it makes sense for the diamond pushup to be more effective for chest Specifically the upper chest because the upper chest Fibers Run Diagonally and if you elevate your feet its like a better Incline bench as long as you have a way to progressively overload it.
If you flare the elbows you reduce pectoral engagement, Diamond are fine if you dont' flare your elbows much, but a lot of people cant comfortably do them without the flared elbows
What is the proper way to do pushups for the inner chest?
I was always told Diamond pushups.
You can’t. The pecs contract across the entire breadth of the muscle regardless, so you can’t target inner chest because it’s just the point in your pec major where it attaches to the sternum.
You can target the clavicular head more, which is the upper chest. Incline presses, such ad handstand push-ups at an angle with feet against the wall will work
@@JerryTeixeira So only flies or and cable crossovers work for the inner chest?
@@mortiusvicimus8901Any exercise that makes your chest open up
@@JerryTeixeiraI don’t think you know what you’re talking about.
He's right, tf? There's no such thing as an "inner chest" anyway.@@HabeshaIntercept
These kill the wrist, probably stretching that ligaments. Love it
I have a video with some wrist stretches you can do that that If you feel like they are tight
Great video Jerry, thank you. Long time since you have let your beard grow-was a good look so hope you will let it grow again soon? If not a beard then the moustache by itself would look great. Hope you will consider.
I don’t know, I am liking my baby face 😂
@@JerryTeixeira Understand Jerry but experimenting is good! Try a moustache, something new and would look great. Am sure you would like the look 🙏
I can reach 11 diamond push ups in one row but doing close grip pushuls and barely reaching 10 means it's true 😂
I’m pretty sure diamond push ups aren’t for mass gain but for endurance in the upper torso. They do diamond push ups in the Marines all the time. At least that what it used to be 15 years ago.
When i do it my hands start caving in but that might because i am failing to do a full repetition after maybe 12
Do they hit different tricep heads? Long head and medial head
Do a little of both
I do 25 diamond in a row and my triceps and chest feel puml
🔥
But whats Up with the other 5 tricepSSS heads?
This statement that it has less tricep and less pectoral engagement has an inheret flaw in logic. If an exercise has less engagement in one muscle, than that force has to come from another body part to do the movement.
In the (Diamond-)Pushup the pecs aswell as triceps are some of the primary movers of this exercise. How could engagement be lower in both, that makes no sense. The force has to be created somewhere and I don't believe it shifts more focus to the front delts than normal pushups so....??
Yeah I didn't catch that I misspoke until a couple weeks after I posted it, If you flare the elbows much then pectoral engagement is lower and anterior deltoid is higher. The thing is, a lot of people cant do them comfortably without flaring the elbows. It's not the the diamond is bad, as long as you can do comfortably without having to flare the elbows.
I don't get why ppl say diamond push-ups r hard I do more then 20 elevated
diamond harder tho
Thanks man
You are welcome
Diamond push ups blew up my upper chest and triceps’s more then close grip by far!
Where's the "scientific" proof he's talking about? Diamonds work great.
Thats cap diamonds do triceps wonders
You don’t need to make a diamond, it’s arbitrary. As long as your hands are close grip the stimulation to the triceps is the same
Diamond are such bullshit.
Rip your wrist man
thanks
You're welcome
It’s a bicep pushup
