    I’m gonna be honest, I’m 16 years old and can only do three push-ups with decent form. I’m around 130 lbs at 5'10 and I’ve been going to the gym consistently for about 5 months. I train for hypertrophy so my goals aren’t really much strength but I’m gonna change that soon. Also I should mention that I was always skinny not fat

    do "Pyramids". That is a max set of pushups, then take a 10 minute break (do karate basics or something instead) then do another set of pushups then another set of karate basics then a third set of pushups, etc. Try to do at least 3 max sets of pushups within 30 minutes of one another while you are training Pyramids. Your second and third set will naturally be weaker than your first set, but don't worry about that. The point is aim for 100 pushups per day on your own time, and another 100 per day on your dojo's time.

  • @WadeSmith-oe5xd
    @WadeSmith-oe5xd Před 7 měsíci

    I used to do 2 sets of 50 pushups per day on my own time and 5 sets of 20 pushups per day in warm-ups in karate class, not counting whatever we did in the Cardio Kickboxing class every day.

    I mean sure if you have a standard muscle type ratio 50 push ups should be pretty easy. However if you have primarily type 2 fibers it really sucks to do more than 15.

  • @brucemacmillan9581

    I can do 80 slow, deep pushups, hands wide or close in. I can do about 60 or so angle down, with my feet up on a chair and hands on the floor. I can also do 180 shallow fast reps in one set. Probably not as good as slow deep, but it's at least a good short cardio burst. I'm 71 years old btw.

  • @WildinReality
    @WildinReality Před 11 měsíci

    Remember if you’re doing push-ups use good form. For example, I can do 40-50 push-ups with good form and I can do tuck planche pushups and one arm push-ups, but I knew someone who said he could do 60 and his hips were sagging and elbows were no where near locking out.

    If you see this comment as overreacting, that's fine.
    Im currently body shaming myself and i try to work hard and stay on track, sometimes i do but sometimes i don't. It hurts me to encounter a short that goes like "here's why a man should do this many push ups" and "if you can only do this your overweight". Everytime i have a conversation with a person about who is fat and who is not i always make sure im the first one to say that im fat asf. It has become my identity now. Although sometimes i don't really see myself as overweight, its just that i haven't seen any differences yet. I have insulted myself so much that i started to harm myself. Mentally and physically. The point of this comment? These types of videos hurt people like me, please show show some more kindness instead of saying what men have to be 🙏💔

    30 push-ups is good, but 30 strict form push-ups are definitely not that easy. You need full range of motion, slow eccentric and proper scapula engagement. 10 of strict form > 30 without strict form.
