Good day, I want to thank you so very much, for your videos upon violin. I am a electronica musician, play keyboards, drums, percussion, synths and piano, even some guitar from time to time, But i have been so longing to record backing violin for atmospheres, textures and a few riffs. When a young man, i was in violin in my schooling, progressed to perform in school orchestra and under a instructor who kept all my positions and chords in check , this was so very long ago. With the many years of technician and stage performance as electronica, synthesizers, I find myself entirely lost and forgotten every part of my child love of playing violin. So i truly wish to say to you , from my heart, thank you for your online instruction to help me rekindle a old passion. Blessed be.

Allison, You're a dream...talk about giving back...Thank you sooo much. You've taken the mystery out of learning the violin. I lived in England for 3 years...I love hearing your voice--it makes me homesick for all the wonderful British friends and acquaintances. I taught myself to play the guitar as a teenager, took years of piano and never, ever, in a million years, would have even considered attempting the violin. Then, serendipitously, an ad for a $35 violin popped up about a month ago and I thought, why not? Turns out, I really like the violin--it didn't even sound scratchy out of the box, before tuning. rosin...You helped me to tune it and now I am on my way...When I figure out how to load a vid on CZcams, I will show you how this cheepie violin sounds. So, he couldn't wait and he bought me a Silver Creek SC2 Violin, I was shocked!!! I never thought that he would do that. Anyway, I know nothing about Violins and always wanted to learn to play one. After searching tutorials on You Tube I have to say you've got to be the best instructor out there. I really got the grasp on learning the notes of all the strings. You make it easy and you explained a lot about Violins from previous videos. Kudos to you and I look forward to finishing up the rest of the lessons you have done. Thanks so Much!!!

    Hi Alison,
I'm Billy, and very happy to play the violin. This is the first time I've ever touched one. I've had it for 4 days now, with less than two hours with my hands on. I have stopped at lesson 4 per your instructions. In lesson 3 you went over the 7 cords associated with playing the violin. I understand all the notes completely, with one exception. The notes played with ones pinkie finger, I'm sure I will catch on to that very soon. I am posting this to let you know that I had trouble with the first four notes played in open strings. I had to refer to my notes, and it never really click, that is till I made up a mnemonic phrase that helps me with the cords played on open strings, G D A E, I hope this will help others to remember, because the rest of the cords fall into place very easily. And maybe you can integrate this into your lesson.
    Get Down And Enjoy-G D A E
Thanks for your support and knowledge, your a great teacher! Peace out!

Thankyou so much for making it free! These are the only clear and easy-to-do/understand lessons I can find that are free, and that I dont have to download! Helped me and my friend alot, we're learning the viloin because it's on our 'before I turn 18' lists we made. So, hopefully between now and 2018 we will learn the violin! :) Thanks to you and your videos :) xxx

I have just had two violin lessons,( well I should say I am learning to play traditional irish fiddle music). In between lessons I found I was forgetting things I had been told...found your lessons on youtube and they are so helpful! Just reminding me what I need to do and my way round the violin. You are very clear and I find you easy to follow! Will keep watching - find you really good. I did watch a few other videos but yours is definitely the best for me!!!!! Thank you.
