    I just wanted to take a second and say that as much as I like the revivals I really like seeing you work at home and interact with your family. I know you work 7 days a week and work hard so knowing you can take a few minutes here and there to spend time with family while you are making the video makes me feel better watching it. I feel guilty watching you ride in late at night with a revival knowing you have to head right back out again the next day. God bless.

    Wiring 101, Engine 102. The primary reason is that you don't want to chase engine issues and wiring issues at the same time. If the wiring is correct, it eliminates electrical issues beyond spark/ignition. Just makes life easier. The secondary reason is a short can damage expensive engine electronic or electrical components. Enjoying this build and frequent videos...

      @CJManning86 Před 3 dny

      Agreed... However, this is VGG and the right way is usually not the way. However, in this case, it's a choice and not something forced upon Derek so I hope he sees this and follows the request and advice. Get all the wiring planned, ran, and functioning and then just drop a plug and play engine in there. Plus, you can even plan and account for the engine while you're doing the wiring for less hassle.

      Ok...no. You can MAYBE say that about the gunTubers, but even they're really a bunch of exclusive cliques, as far as community goes. The "community" is huge. How many times have you seen the guys from grind hard on this channel? Fab rats? Robbie Layton? Sam Crac? That black dude that works on Teslas? I could go on and list a hundred more because there are hundreds of relatively popular car channels. People make friends and show up in each other's channels. • @sippigrrrl
      @sippigrrrl Před 5 dny +3

      @@kender1412Uh, what? Isn’t showing up in each other’s videos by definition supporting the community? Smaller channels get the chance to work with bigger channels, and they get to have more eyes on them. What, perchance, do you suggest they do differently?

      @kender1412 Před 5 dny

      @@sippigrrrl -- Hanging out with five or ten people over the course of as many years is not participating in community. We aren't talking about people from new or small channels getting a leg up, either. We're talking about people with a largish established fan base that's already steadily growing (which is what you have to be to even be on these people's radar) getting a bit of a bump. It's just a good 'ole boys' club in the middle of a bunch of other separate good 'ole boys' clubs that is cartubers on this service. That's not community, it's a more adult version of highschool cliques.

      I'm a kid at 77 years and I can verify what your 'ol Grandad told ya. We had a gob a kids in our high school (1961 - 1965) who had hotrods just like Derek's '35. I'm here to tell ya,, we worked for a buck an hour so there wasn't much left to buy NEW PARTS. Honestly, back in those days the aftermarket was limited to just a few and most of that was far too expensive for us. IF we had to get NEW it was ordered from Montgomery Ward, Sears and/or J C Whitney but most came from the local wreck'n (junk) yards. We hot wrenched the chassis, springs, etc. Made our exhaust from irrigation piping or what ever we could find. Tore down and rebuilt (with used parts) our engines,, typically SB Chev (265 or 283's) or Ford (260's and 289's). Most trans were 3 speed but a few had the cash for a 4 speed. WOW lemme tell ya,, many of us should have been killed driving the junk we built,, BUT it worked,, kinda 🙂

I wouldn't bother with installing the hood. Finish the power barn to better than new, fix what needs to be fixed on the body and bed, clear coat, and restore the chrome and stainless, and put a very nice wood bed on it.
    The exhaust would be awesome if you ran a pair of stacks behind the cab.

    I wish every father with kids watch this. This is how you treat your kids and treat them like you need their help.
    They learn many life lessons you can't even see.
    My dad had me help maintain his daily driver work commute cars since I was like 8 yrs old.
    My mom had the new car in the garage, and my dad bought a used car every year or two, it seemed. I learned a lot of lessons.
    The 1960s and 70s were a great childhood.
    And I had plenty of time to play with my friends. The weekends, if we needed to replace a part or do a tune-up, I was their.

    You should put 1/2" rubber mount spacers between bed frame and the truck frame, Would give a little room and isolate so it isnt so noisy driving down the road. Loving the build

    As a longtime subscriber, it is indeed unbelievable how big your community actuality is. I was selling parts of a Cadillac CTS which had a blown engine and the guy wanted the entire floor (sheet metal) and seats for his custom 50s pickup project. Started talking with the dude and ended up talking about VGG. All this was in The Netherlands, which is about a 20 hour flight away.
