The high school kid tarp thing is hilarious
Another reminder that, very often in life, you get exactly what you pay for & end up surrounded by the people you've hitched your fate to.
Oh no! It's the predicable consequences of my own poor decisions! /shocked pikachu
It's not just that the tarp is heavier than it looks. When it's wet, it weighs tons (literally), which means the mechanism to roll it (or the humans) off the field has to be super-solid... and thus the half-ton roller that broke Coleman's leg.
Can confirm. I’ve done tarp duty at the stadium twice. It get VERY heavy about halfway across and that’s when dry. Getting it off after the rain was a pain
Makes sense Brent, appreciate the context, thanks.
@@awsomehog1 water adds sooooo much more weight than we realize.
I can’t believe 10 cent beer night or disco demolition night weren’t included in this video. Definitely worth you guys checking out.
Thanks Rocco. Seen quite a few mentions for this, have got it on our to watch list! Appreciate the comment
I second this comment
Yep, I thought disco demolition night would be on there for sure. Setting fires on the field has to be something that’s only happened once.
162 games per year over 150 years means there are a million little funny stories like this. I love baseball.
Speaking of great baseball stories... I remember this guy well... czcams.com/video/AmZWK6--aMI/video.html
czcams.com/video/C2H71SpEoRg/video.html
4860 games per year*
The 1st baseman had the ball in the Javy Baez play. All he had to do was take 3 steps backward...you guys should watch the whole play. It's unbelievable
Thank you for the context!
Timestamp?
@@xcalixus18:17-18:52
Could've just took a couple more steps to home plate too and tagged him. Even if the runner from third tags home it doesn't count unless the hitter makes it to first base safely.
Will Craig killed his MLB career with that one dumb move.
The Javy Baez one always kills me, how many times do you see a hitter get an RBI and call the runner safe?
It was so bad 😂
The other teams manager appealed the play at home so the ump asked Baez what the call should be.
@@DNReacts Baez calling contreras safe is the icing on the cake.
The safe call is easily the best part of that entire circus 😂
@@DNReacts the other team probably could have gotten the batter called out for going so far out of his way to avoid the tag, but I think the other team was too stunned by the stupidity of it all to think of that
To add even more context to the length of Sale’s suspension, as a starting pitcher it was effectively only a ONE GAME suspension.
Wow! Makes it even worse 😂 Thanks for the context!
one of the craziest things i’ve seen was a game with the Oakland A’s - Rickey Henderson is on 1st, and he takes off as soon as the pitch is thrown, his helmet flies off and bounces on the ground, the batter hits a line drive right into the helmet and it shatters into a million pieces
it exploded like it was confetti, never seen anything like it
The guy who did the flip was Ozzie Smith he's amazing
The Wizard is a legend
Thanks Wesley, heard this name mentioned quite a lot in the comments across a few videos
@@DNReacts yeah, gotta check out Ozzie
Baseball doesn’t exist is by far and away my favorite baseball channel. Really hope you guys react to more of their content.
We definitely will be Gracie, really enjoyed this one! Was very funny!
I think you guys would also enjoy his storytelling. Unlike secret base, he doesn’t just give you the background information and not the actual story, but he covers everything. His video about how the movie Moneyball ruined the Oakland Athletics organization, and is likely leading to their move from Oakland to most likely Las Vegas is actually pretty good. It’s called how the movie Moneyball ruins the Oakland A’s. They also have another one of these funny compilations called the weirdest players in baseball history. It’s absolutely hilarious and you should probably check it out.
To me nothing compares to 10 cent Beer night in Cleveland, and Disco demolition in between a doubleheader in Chicago from the glorious 70’s! Both have their own documentaries.
The controversy was the fact the guy got tased, Phillies actually didn't get in trouble for it because it is in their ground rules, and posted across the park that the guards have tasers.
I look forward to your guy's videos every day. Thanks for providing great content and glad to be on this journey of learning more about major American sports with you!
Love to hear this, this is great, thanks for the comment!
I'm glad you guys are doing reactions to different types of videos - including these less-serious ones. It was fun to watch with you guys. Thanks.
Thanks Jedd, really appreciate it. Really enjoyed this one.
I love your channel because you react to a great variety of videos. I enjoy the learning videos and highlight clips but fluff videos like this are a great change of pace. I love baseball but it can be very dumb. 😅
Lonnie Smith’s World Series blunder reminds me of Jon Bois’ video on Smith and his insane career and life story. I highly recommend this video, it’s a part of Bois’ “Pretty Good” series. Bois is currently a creative director with Secret Base and one of the best sports creators on CZcams in my opinion.
Thank you Roger! We do try to mix up the reactions to keep things fresh, glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the support!
The part about promotions, in the 70's the Cincinnati Reds gave out wooden bats to kids. I had a couple, one signed by Tony Perez and I think, the other one was Dave Concepcion. It was great back then, but now I'm thinking you're giving wooden bats out. That's just an accident waiting to happen when a kid gets mad or a drunk adult gets mad.
Yeah it wouldn’t work as well these days 😂
This video was hilarious, great reaction
Thank you Zach!
Lonnie Smith wasn't tricked by the infielders, despite Tim McCarver's (and now BBDE) ranting. You can clearly see him looking out to left trying to locate the ball. You can also see in the non-cropped version the third base coach looking to left to locate the ball, not winding his arm to tell Lonnie to keep running. The Metrodome had a white roof, which made it very difficult to follow white balls when hit in the air. If you lost the ball off the bat, it was difficult to reacquire. Lonnie paused because he wasn't sure if the ball had hit the ground, and by the time he did locate it, he could only make third.
Then the following hitters proceeded to hit a weak grounder to first then ground into a double play (after an intentional walk). Then in the following two innings 6 batters failed to reach base. Lonnie Smith did not lose the 1991 World Series by his lonesome as people want to paint. And in fact was a huge part of them making it to a game seven with an OBP of .333 in the series and 3 HR.
This video is great guys, love the baseball reactions! You're immediate disdain for the horns was hysterical
Thank you! Really appreciate that! Haha we hate them 😂 had to go through a whole World Cup listening to those things!
@@DNReacts it's got to be Pavlovian for footie fans.
Surprised that 10-Cent beer night didn't get a mention. There are a whole bunch of videos on it if you haven't reacted already, they're well worth a watch
Thanks Evan, had quite a few requests for 10-cent beer night. Definitely on out to watch list
You guys HAVE to watch a video on Dock Ellis, a Pitcher from the 70s. Baseball Doesn’t Exist has a great video on him called “The Highest Player in Baseball History” or watch “Dock Ellis and the LSD no-no” which is a very famous video
I remember a father/Son (15 years old) duo who jump on the field and attacked the First Base coach with a pocket knife. Both teams jumped on these two and got destroyed.
Banger video my guys. Didn’t want it to end.
Thanks, really appreciate it!
"Not-so-serious baseball" 1-6 by Exe-Edits. Lots of dugout pranks and players just having a good time.
Thank you Joe!
@@DNReacts the hot foot is a baseball classic.
I love this game. Weird stuff happens every season and I see something new every year.
You’ve got to react to the Cleveland Indians 10 cent beer night.
It’s exactly what you’d expect!
You guys should DEFINITELY cover more from baseball doesnt exist. Literally every video has been golden baseball content
Thanks for the comment, we did really enjoy this one!
Your reaction to the David Cone play at first base (out by a mile, umpire calls him safe, player starts yelling at the umpire while runners score) reminded me of something else that you should definitely look into, which is Armando Galaraga's Imperfect Game. I won't spoil anything about it, but I'll just quickly explain what a Perfect Game is. As a pitcher, there is no greater single-game accomplishment than throwing a Perfect Game, which is a complete game pitched with no batter reaching base; no hits allowed, no walks, no hit batters, no errors, 27 batters faced, 27 outs. You may be able to guess some of what happened to Galaraga given the "Imperfect Game" title, but I won't say any more. Jomboy did a breakdown of it years after the fact, "Umpire blows the call on Armando Galarraga's perfect game, a breakdown." I'd recommend just watching his video as he lays out a lot of the context.
Thank you for the comment and your support Ryan, we really appreciate it 🙏 Will take a look too.
When they were talking about dumb promotions, I'm surprised 10 Cent Beer Night wasn't mentioned
I love Baseball Doesn't Exist's videos. They're so much fun to watch.
15:40 its even less than 5 games, Chris Sale is a starting pitcher. they only pitch once every 5 games so he only missed 1 start 😂
I was at the David Cone game. The umpire ruled his foot didn't touch the bag.
19:59 you guys need to react to mlb dekes!! It’s when a defensive player fakes out a runner by pretending to have the ball.
Thanks for the suggestion!
That was hilarious. But good to know even the pros get confused. That was the scariest part of playing baseball. Knowing what to do with the ball if it came to you. 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed Mark! Definitely, shows everyone open to a mistake. Thanks for the comment
Nick, I was watching that CUBS game when Javier Baez ran backward allowing a run to score then still made it to 1st base and stole 2nd base! It was a GREAT effort by the CUBS! Sadly, they traded all of their All-Stars game-starting infield, now they are rebuilding, but doing great.
thanks for another great video. Can't wait for some more NFL ones. Linebacker (Middle) London Fletcher is a good one to watch. He is the most under-rated player in NFL history. His teammates, coaches, and opposing players and coaches all agree he was a true stud and hall of fame level player that never got the proper recognition because he was quiet and just did his job. Thanks again guys and hope to see another video soon!
Thanks Bradley, appreciate the comment! Plenty more NFL coming and will be even more once the season is underway too. I’ve added London Fletcher to our list as I’m not sure we’ve come across his name before. Thanks for that.
"The most random sound ever" is anything but. It's the start of Motley Crues Kickstart My Heart. It's a guitar dive meant to sound like a revving engine. Having done this kind of work I can almost guarantee he was getting the clip ready for either a players walkup or a between innings thing, and forgot to mute the channel.
Its just weird he refers to as that. There's an official MLB video on here that says it's Kickstart My Heart right in the title.
That literally killed the rest of the video for me. How any sports fan (or 80s music fan) couldn't recognize that IMMEDIATELY is beyond me, especially a famous baseball CZcamsr. BDE lost a ton of respect from me for that
Thanks for this comment Inara. Had absolutely no idea, this is great context and really good to know! 🙏
I'm surprised the Armando Galarraga *Perfect Game* wasn't on the list!
Those tarps are no joke to move around lol. You better hope there isnt a lot of wind with the rain. People can go flying and get hurt. The guy who fell under the tarp is normal kinda. You dont stop for someone falling, you dont want to lose momentum
Baseball Doesn't Exist is one of the best channels on CZcams. Love the reaction gents!
Thanks Derick, really appreciate it!
You guys should check out the ball girls. They make some fantastic plays
Not joking, ballgirls are f*cking GAMERS and have their head in the whole game. SD Pads do it and those chicks kick ass.
@@NoPrefect I wasn't throwing shade. I was serious. Most of them are accomplished college softball players.
How did The 10 Cent Beer Night disaster not make this video?!?
Oh dang you guys got a better mic?! Hell yeah! it makes a huge difference
They can make a whole roof retract but a tarp is beyond science 🤣
💯😂
This one is really fun! Glad you watched it. I’ve suggested “Not so Serious Baseball” which is also hilarious. Hope you’ll check!it out. I think it’s on the list. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! If you’re in discord you can add a video to the reaction requests channel 😀
@@DNReacts I’m not on Discord. Is that now the only way to get a reaction request seen?
I'm glad you guys took the time to actually learn the game before watching this. It's not obvious why some of the stuff is so dumb if you don't understand the game, I've seen a lot of people reacting to similar videos that just didn't get it.
I may be wrong but I remember that David Cone play at first, I believe it ended up being a correct call. I think his foot was in front of the bag but not touching it and the ump was correct after showing the replay. RE - EDIT I looked it up and found two videos of the play and I was correct. It was a very close call and being from New England I still say he never touched the bag. SAFE! lol
Chris Sale was ace of the white sox staff (best pitcher on team),that's why it was light lol, 5 days is 1 start for a pitcher,
That makes sense!
This whole video is hilarious, thanks for reacting to it. I’ve never seen it. Those tarps are serious the lightest ones weight like 500lbs and go up from there. When they are wet they are super heavy and can be very dangerous.
The runner who ran back to home so he didn’t get tagged on the first base line confused me because I grew up playing softball and we have the rule that you cannot run back to home if you are running to first. You have to just try and avoid the tag. If you run back you are out. Home plate is not an occupiable base. I guess I always assumed the rule was the same in baseball because that very rarely happens that someone will run backwards in that situation.
Great video guys, loved you guys just having some fun and laughs.
Thank you, appreciate it! 😀
Great reaction guys! I always enjoy watching your vids all the way here in Orlando, Florida!!! Cheers!
Thank you, we really appreciate the support 🙏
the random sound was motley crues kickstart my heart
Faking baserunners with fake throws/catches is a longstanding thing that defensive players do. There have been outfielders that lost the ball (in the lights, the sun, whatever, they can't see the ball) but faked that they were about to make the catch, which holds up the runners - then they play the ball on a bounce. It mostly won't get an out, but it does prevent the runners from advancing as much as they might otherwise.
Stick a video in the discord reaction request channel and we will get to it 😊
This was great!!! Loved it!
Thanks Chris! Glad you enjoyed
"Baseball doesn't exist" YT channel is so fun to watch, I'd to see more reactions :)
We’ve recorded a couple more from BDE due out soon :)
I can't believe that Disco Demolition wasn't on the list!! 😮😮
It was Chicago DJ steve dahl's idea I don't know why MLB thought it was a good idea because it has nothing to do with baseball they could have just blown up a bunch of records in some field somewhere.
Have to check out Disco Demolition Night, it by far is the wildest of all of them. Shocked they didn't include it in this video.
To add insult to injury teams pay for flyovers. And it's not very cheap either. So the Brewers pay tens of thousands of dollars for a flyover no one even saw.
Atlanta braves have the best grounds crew. They use tractors to haul the tarp out.
Thanks Shane, appreciate the info!
They did a video about the dumbest things to happen on a baseball field and failed to mention Disco Demolition Night? You guys need to find a video about that fiasco. It was 1979 or 1980 can't remember for sure, involving the Chicago White Sox.
I feel like Baseball doesn’t exist is a better channel for people who aren’t already baseball fans.
I was at the White Sox game where they handed out the shirts with Chris Sale on it. We were like where the hell is Chris Sale and found out mid game he wasn’t pitching. He was traded later that week I think
That was really fun!
Best baseball channel hands down
Chris Sale was pretty good thats why he only got suspended 5 games
You need to watch "The Biggest Psychopath in Sports" by Baseball Doesnt Exist. He does a great job explaining how crazy pitcher Max Scherzer is. Another good one is "How Zack Greinke became the Weirdest player in Sports" Both do a great job chronicling 2 great players.
Thank you for the comment and the suggestion, we really appreciate it 🤝 We’ve currently got Zack Greinke in a live Discord Poll. We run regular polls on our Discord for all members to have a say in what videos we do next if you’re not already on there 🙏
Chuck Knoblauch's finest moment with the Minnesota Twins, DEEKING Lonnie Smith in the World Series.
[Such a play, known as a deke (short for “decoy”), has long been a staple of major league baseball. In it, a fielder acts as if a play he has no chance of making is in front of him, so as to slow or stop a runner who might otherwise advance to the next base]... Which reminds me of another phenomena to study - players who get "The Yips" - "...Chuck Knoblauch started his MLB career off on the right track making his name known within the walls of the Metrodome in Minnesota. He earned American League Rookie of the Year honors in 1991 and helped the Twins win the World Series over the Atlanta Braves. If you haven't seen any clips from this game do yourself a favor and dive right in. The 1991 World Series is arguably the greatest World Series ever played and is one of the reasons that Greg Gagne, Kent Hrbek, and Kirby Puckett are in the Twins Hall of Fame.
The AL Rookie of the Year would spend his first seven seasons as a pro in Minnesota, where he was a four-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger. Throughout his stay in the Twin Cities, Knoblauch hit 43 home runs, drove in 391 RBIs, and recorded 276 stolen bases, all while maintaining his prowess as a steady hitter with a career batting average of .304.
In 1998, Knoblauch requested a trade out of Minnesota and was dealt to the New York Yankees...
The Gold Glove-winning second baseman featured in the Yankees' three-peat of World Series championships from 1998-2000 but soon found himself struggling, particularly as a fielder.
In what may be the worst-known case of the yips in Major League Baseball history, Knoblauch's defense deteriorated so rapidly and noticeably that he could scarcely make the easy throw from second base to first base. In one instance, an errant Knoblauch throw hit Keith Olbermann's mother sitting along the first baseline.
As the throwing errors mounted, the Yankees' patience wore thin and eventually moved Knoblauch into left field for the first time in his career.
Knoblauch's career was winding down, and the Yankees didn't re-sign him following the 2001 season. During the offseason, he joined the Kansas City Royals, where he played his final season in The Show...."
In your American sports adventure, what is your favorite so far? As a video suggestion, there are a few videos on the 'Bad Man' Aaron Rodgers that showcase the rise of Rodgers as one of the best QBs in NFL history.
I'm glad that you guys understand enough about baseball to appreciate all of these dumb plays, dumb promotions and dumb fans that attend the games. Drinking is not as big a thing at sporting events here as I see in Europe and especially the UK so we tend to get silliness and attention seekers rather than anything serious. You might have noticed that there are a lot of children and even people with babies attending the games. Baseball is the most family friendly game we have. When I was a kid growing up and playing baseball in San Diego the Padres would give free tickets to little league teams all over the city and half of the attendance for that game was 6 to 16 year old's. Free hot dogs, soda and popcorn. Thanks Pad's!! I gladly accepted your generosity even though I was always a Dodgers fan. ⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾
Baseball tarp that size weighs a ton.
The tarp is so heavy that the person covered by it was in danger of suffocating.
Chris Sale only got a 5 game suspension for the jersey thing because that's the standard starting pitcher rotation when an off day is included. lol. Basically they suspended him on his day off and it was over when he was supposed to work again. LOL
That is so crazy 😂 Basically zero punishment for probably costing the franchise a bit of money lol. Thanks for the context William, appreciate it
@@DNReacts You'll find that alot in american sports unless something is very bad. The players unions also are able to appeal suspensions and there will be time where an investigation happens. So there can be some gamesmanship there as well. As the player is allowed to keep playing while the appeal is in process.
Cheers from Texas Damo and Nick! This was hilarious, great reaction. I'd love to see ya'll react to the LA Speed Check story or one of about 5 videos the Jolly channel has made while here in Texas. They try award winning BBQ, TexMex, Whataburger, the rodeo and a stop by Buc-ee's!
Thanks Brandy, appreciate your support. Have added this one to our list, sounds intriguing
Taser Context: part of the debate is the use-of-force tiers of stadium security. Is security the same as Law Enforcement (police)?
If I recall, one mentally challenged young fan (Florida, I think) was tasered, tackled - he resisted - resulting in the need of an ambulance carry his limp body to hospital. He survived, however it made national news and horrified many fans and witnesses.
Wild seeing a younger Phil Cuzzy umping in some of these clips
As a Giants fan, it can be rough on the old folks to balldude a game, but I have never seen one that wasn't smiling and having the time of their lives.
P.s.: baseball is, at it's core, a children's game. Half the rules are wholly unwritten yet deeply respected and almost religiously abided by. You do it almost every afternoon over summer. There is a sincere, childlike glee that comes from a bit of baseball, a little "I'll throw it and you try to hit it" while in the backyard spirit that it never truly loses, even at the most grueling professional level there is always a pranking, jocking, juvenile superstition-breeding, ladding-it-up attitude to baseball that keeps even the most serious veterans young-at-heart. That's what these SF Giants balldudes and dudettes are embracing and having a ball.
We loved that part, felt like a really nice touch! Appreciate the context re rules as well. We’ll have to do the unwritten rules, isn’t something we’ve come past yet on the journey
BDE is one of my favorite CZcamsr. I don’t even watch that much baseball
A "Ten cent night was total was total disaster" for the dumbest thing MLB. It's funny.
Thanks, now I'm having vuvuzela flashbacks. I had forgotten all about that World Cup.
I haven’t been the same since we recorded this one 😅
The Javy Baez play, as others have said, is almost impossibly moronic. Watching the whole play with the announcer's commentary is an absolute MUST.
I'm sure Jomboy must have a breakdown of it as well.
Thank you for the comment, appreciate it. Not sure whether you’re already in our Discord, but we’ve currently got a special Jomboy video poll that is live
Poor Lonnie Smith. You should watch Jon Bois's Pretty Good on Lonnie Smith.

both jomboy and utree have a video on it you should check out.
the reaction from the announcers especially the Pirates one is priceless.
Great Video! It’s only the tip of the iceberg of craziness at the ballpark. Still waiting for Disco Demolition- the most insane promotion gone wrong in history. Seen briefly at 0:57 in this video (“caused actual riots”)
Thank you, appreciate it! Have got this one of our list to watch, a shame they didn’t show it in more detail here
@@DNReacts I’d suggest the ESPN doc on Disco Demolition. Well produced and about 10 mins long. Perfect for your channel!
They should just add proximity sensors to the automatic tarp. They're in almost every robotics kit, ones you can buy for under $50 USD.
The $ sign already means ‘USD’
The video didn't cover the two dumbest promotions in MLB history: Disco Demolition Night and Ten Cent Beer Night. The Weird History channel has good videos on both.
Another 🔥 reaction
Thanks Carlos!
Check MLBs ball attendants. They do a great job.
You guys should look up bottlegate in Cleveland. Fans got so crazy the brown had to forfeit the game and fans started pelting people on the field with glass bottles
They’ve actually reacted to Bottlegate! It’s on the channel.
Haven't watched the video yet, but I hope John Miller's call of Ruben Rivera's 'worst baserunning in the history of the game' is shown.
The taser thing was less debate and more just caused lots of talk on radio and tv. If anything, the debate was over whether or not using the taser was necessary or whether or not stadium security was good enough.
Thanks Kevin, sounds similar to what we’d see over our side of the pond as well (the media involvement). Makes sense though, appreciate the comment. Hope you’re good
Those tarps are crazy heavy. You could suffocate under one of those. It's no joke when a grounds crew member falls under one. Not blaming you guys for laughing. Just saying.
Chris Sale should have been fined thousands of dollars and suspended much longer than that for cutting up his teammates' uniforms .
There's a guy in this video named Tommy John there is a shoulder surgery named after him bc he was the first person to get it
16:54 oh boy wait until you watch an umpire call that ruined Armando Galarraga's perfect game.

He was a genius at coming up with crazy promotions. The white Sox wearing shorts was one of his more mild stunts.
Thanks David, really appreciate the support! Sounds intriguing that one, thanks for that, have added it to our watch list
The reason why Sale only got a short suspension for cutting up those jerseys is probably because he is the Ace of the staff.....The Sox needs him a Hell of a lot more than he needs them, lol....
That’s a fair point 😂
