The call initially made by Atal Bihari Vajpayee - was recently made again by BJP during Maharashtra Elections. The party has always been hailing Savarkar as the 'bravest' and ideal freedom fighter but there are certain facts about this great leader which no BJP or even Hindu Mahasabha leader shall ever tell you.

The key to know more about Veer Savarkar is to read more about him and his life before and after Independence from all sources before we reach a conclusion.

He mentions that in a purely hypothetical context of Chatrapati Shivaji and Chimappa doing the exact opposite, and how this chivalry was detrimental when the opposite party was not and never going to be.
He was highlighting the downside of being overtly chivalrous to an enemy who religiously doesn’t and will not believe in it rendering your chivalry working against you.

Veer Savarkar spend 18 years in Jail during British Era out of which spend 11 years in Kala Pani.
He was charged for his revolutionary speeches against state and distribution of arms. He had contacts with revolutionaries of different Countries.During his imprisonment, he faced brutal torture and solitary confinement, but he never wavered in his determination to fight for India's freedom. He could not meet his brother for 9 years even staying in the same Jail. He was mercilessly beaten, given limited food, and even Toilets were supposed to used once. He wrote mercy petition to the state for his release and better treatment for all inmates in Jail especially the political prisioners. He promised to remain loyal after the release. But nonethless even after release from Kala Pani he continued his revolution against Britishers and was again prisioned for 5 years in RatnaGiri Jail. He was considered as one of most dangerous revolutionaries by Britishers.
One of the books he published called The Indian War of Independence of 1857 was insipration for many including Bhagat Singh, Khudiram Bose.
During his Student life in England, Savarkar founded the Free India Society to organise Indian students studying in England to fight for independence.
In India he and his brother founded Abhinav Bharat Society to fought against British Rule.
Later part of his life after 1935 , he started working on the consolidation of Hindu society and formed Hindu Mahasabha to revive Hindus against caste system. His contributation to freedom struggle diminshed and he morever worked on consolidation of Hindus. He built temples and cafe for SC/ST people, during that time there was lot of discrimination against them. He refrained Hindus for using the full name encourage people using only first name to avoid knowing the caste of Hindus. He coined word 'Hindutva' and consider all as Hindus who are born or consider the land of India their motherland.
After so much sacrifice if somebody is still criticizing him, then he is not an Indian. Why not mercy petition when there was no Bail system earlier, when you are treated so badly why cannot he ask for Mercy ,when other congressmen even in jail get 5 star treatment, he was treated worse than a animal, when there can be mercy petition for terrorist why not for him.

Sir , i really respect your studies and the knowledge you have. Don't want to humiliate anyone on this platform. Everyone has their personal opinions which should be respected and considered. But wanted to share something. I have read Majhi janmathep, Hindutva, Six Glorius Epochs , savarkar and his times, Wangmay part 4 and 5 and so many other articles. Through these readings, i only came to know about one thing, He is the only hinduhridaysamrat and a very difficult person to understand. Till the time you dont dedicate or pour yourself into this pathway, not even a person, you will be stunned. There were many facts in this video which were highly mortifying for any patriotic out there. I read abt him bcoz i was preparing for a big renowned elocution comp held in my city. Through that, for the past 6 months, the things i got to know about savarkar, could have never known if i hadnt read abt him. He is nonetheless than a God for me know. How can someone contribute so much for a nation? He was a scholar and if had he signed one contract , his life was luxurious and nobody else related to him would've suffered. This all was done bcoz of only 1 cause. His love for his nation. The feeling of a duty, heritage and belongingness as a patrimony to our country. Though my thinking process doesnt match with a few, I highly respect all those who have contributed for our nation through various ways. Sung/Unsung. I dont know who has read how much but if we misinterpret or propogate one single thing wrong by mistake, the whole image of savarkar gets turned. He is such a great personality that we cannot understand him in 1 birth. It requires extreme sankalp to mentally and physically suffer for a concept like matrubhumi. Why did so many people give their lives? This is what makes a most grateful. Hence, concluding that savarkar is one of the many people stated previously , who is above bharat ratna and no award in this nation is equal to the contri of these leaders otherwise 15-16 ratnas will have to be awarded. I salute such men and again state to reconsider the opinions in this video.
