Veer Savarkar employed the Sam-dam-dand-bhed neeti, like Shivaji Maharaj, to tackle the British, and hence wrote a mercy petition because he knew there was no use in remaining in jail and doing nothing. Only when he would come out of jail could he contribute again to the Swatantrata Sangram. He was not in the Aga Khan Palace like Gandhiji in the name of arrest.
Mercy petition was a standard procedure to kick start an early release process...they have twisted the tale

I have. Heard the narration so many times of this film from Ranveer Hooda and every time I have seen the same intensity in his voice, after seeing the movie I can see he has actually lived the role of Veer Savarkar. Thank Ranveer for bringing forth this great man’s lifelong struggle on celluloid.

Yes u are right...Gandhi's ideology was somewhere so unrealistic and impractical like why people doesn't understand that...I am maharashtrian and have read all savarkar poems and experience in kaala Pani jail...the words he expressed in his poetry are so touchable that you will cry also I have watched the movie and cried 3 times during movie when savarkar was in kaala Pani... honestly huge respect to Veer Savarkar and all revolutionaries
मैंने हुड्डा जी द्वारा निर्मित वीर सावरकर देखी और परिवार को भी दिखाई। देखने के बाद समझ नहीं आ रहा था की दुखी हो या गर्व का अनुभव करे। दुखी इसलिये की वास्तव में जिन्हें father of nation कहना चाहिये था उन्के बारे कुछ पता नहीं था और गर्व इसलिये की भारत माता के ऐसे ऐसे सपूत हुए की जिनकी आज तक कोई बराबरी कर पाया।

He asked Indian young people to join British forces and the impact we can see in the formation of INA...all those Indian British army people were recruited.

Savarkar was a multi-faceted personality. He was a poet, playwright, social reformer. He suggested many Hindi/ marathi - sanskritised words as a substitute for English words. He wrote a play- Sanyasta Khadga- a weapon which took sanyas- in Marathi, at the persuasion of Master Dinanath Mangeshkar, father of the great Lata. Master Dinanath was the superstar of Marathi Musical Theatre, a great classical and semi-classical singer, who had a main role in the play.. Three of the poems/ lyrics written by Savarkar are still very popular- ‘Swatantrate’- an ode to the goddess of freedom, ‘Ne Majasi Ne’ - a yearning to go back to Motherland and ‘ Shat Janma Shodhitana’ from above play. Many of his poems were inspired while he was in captivity in Kala Pani jail.
As a Firm Savarkarite from childhood, I feel indebt to Randeepji for this masterpiece of a film that covers almost all parts of Savarkars life. I never believed a worldclass film on my Childhood hero could ever be made as its too risky and would rub people in their wrong spots. I know what a massive risk Randeep has taken looking at his profession and there are no words in english dictionary that can be used to thank him for this.

1. Bhagatsingh never met savarkar.
2. In movie savarkar claims that We will get independence for India by 1912, in reality he had already written two " maafinama" to British by then and was guaranteeing British to be their loyal till death. He received $ 60 per month pension from British, how did he serve them?
3. Both gandhi and savarkar supported British and encouraged indians to join British army so that indians can learn how to defend motherland and British in turn will accept demand for freedom.
By the time of second worldwar gandhi saw that British were unwilling and declared " quit India" movement. But savarkar who was receiving rs 60 pension from British opposed quit india movement along with hindu mahasabha, muslim league.
4. No body from Hindu mahasabha or rss were imprisoned by British at the time.
5. Truth about " hinsa se mili azadi"

1) Bhagat Singh met savarkar a few months before his arrest when he was underground.
2 -a ) Savarkar had a vision that people at India house will come up with something that they will prepare Indians to fight the British by 1912. Unfortunitely that never came true as India house was raided and Savarkar was arrested before that. (Never read books, did you?)
2-b) India never had USD as a currency. Savarkar had to apply for allowance as he had no other means to earn as he was not allowed to earn. He received very less allowance against what he was supposed to recieve. On contrary, Many other people like Gandhi, Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan recieved Rs. 100 of those times as monthly allowances. When Gandhi was in Aga Khan palace he recieved monthly allowances of whopping Rs.550, biggest of all time.
3) Gandhi supported British with the hope. But Savarkar wanted Hindus to join Forces in the backdrop of Khilafat; so that to counter the disproportionate recruitment of muslims from NWFP, he believed that Hindus(not religion) should also join forces and learn to use tank and guns so that when the time comes they can use it against the Brits or those who are fighting in the name of Jehad.
4) Truth about hinsa se mili azaadi - Royal Indian naval mutiny of Bombay and Karachi, supported by Left and Congress Socialist Party (not INC).
to use british weapons against the british - precisely what savarkar hoped for. Interesting how you ommited the part of history when Savarkar also encouraged people to join Azad hind fauj, during the era of quit india movement. But again - selectivism is expected from your end.
It doesn't mean we need give up all jaati identities for sake of hindutva. Hindutva itself acknowledged these diversities.
There is a difference between diversity and the barriers created by it, the problem is not with Jaati it is with the barriers

(6) 1942 में असहयोग आंदोलन का संघ ने बहिष्कार क्यों किया? और संघ ने इससे सम्बन्धित पत्र ब्रिटिश गवर्नमेंट को क्यों लिखा ? अगर ये पत्र न लिखते तो देश 1942 में आज़ाद हो जाता❓
(7) गांधी जी की हत्या के प्रयास संघ आज़ादी के पूर्व से कर रहा था, क्यों ? गांधी जी पर आज़ादी के पूर्व 5 बार संघियों ने हमले किये, क्यों❓
(8) संघ प्रमुख केशव बलिराम हेडगेवार ने कहा था कि हिंदुओ को अपनी ताकत का उपयोग अंगेजों के खिलाफ न करते हुए देश में मुस्लिम, क्रिश्चियन और दलितों के खिलाफ करना चाहिए, ऐसा क्यों❓
(9) कहते हैं कि दो धार्मिक शक्तियाँ एक-दूसरे के खिलाफ काम करती हैं तो देश टूटने की कगार पर होता है संघ और मुस्लिम लीग एक दूसरे के विपरीत थीं, इस कारण देश टूटा संघ तो अखंड भारत की बात करता है, फिर ऐसा क्यों हुआ❓

(14) संघ द्वारा हिन्दू समाज के हित में किया गया कोई एक कार्य बतायें, जिससे हिन्दू समाज के निम्नवर्ग का तबका लाभान्वित हुआ हो❓

Many of present era Indian Politicians have pleaded for Mafinaama(Bail) for various Accusations against them for corruption. Very Rightly Randeep has said that Veer Savarkar is more Relevant Today. Brahmin massacre in 1948:-
I listend the stories from my mother, grandmother and grandfather.
1) Before marriage my grandmother was living in shippur(near to kolhapur), she told that there were only 1-2 brahmin families in that village. After the gandhi's death, mob came to burn the house ,and asked the grandfather of my grandmother to vecant the house and farm and leave the village otherwise will burn all these things with you. So her grandfather escaped the cows/bulls from house and left the village with his family. After some years, there were no brahmin in that village , so the village was suffering the problems of rituals and they believed that without brahmin, marriages without proper rituals (married life) is not going well. So again some senior people came to home and asked to come to village again. But grandfather denied.
From that time my grandmother has hatred for congress.
2) My grandfather told that, after death of Gandhi , some people came in our area(Karad from satara distict) to burn our houses. But my area, brahmin families are more and river is also very close from my house, so my great grandfather gathered the people and decided to attack on the people if they attacked on them and will cross the river. But fortunately in my area, there was one most respectful congress leader who was a brahmin and due to his words, people didnt attacked on our houses.
Grandfather also told that, after that incident, people only tried to attack on RSS workers. In my house(wada) there was one teacher who was living on a rent and he was an active worker of RSS. So people come to do an attack on him in my house, but fortunately the leader of those people and the teacher both were classmates so their leader asked other people to go and that teacher was safe. There were more and more stories which were more horrible. I also listened one more story from my friend that after Gandhi's death, the three brahmin brothers had stab to death by mob. These incidents are very famous in western maharashtra. But out of maharashtra these things are not much known to people.

3) My grandfather's(mother's father) 3 floor house was burned by these people.Ground floor was kept untouched because they had a common wall with non-brahmin neighbour.
Also i am noticing that there is a misconception that, non Maharashtrian people are thinking that only koknastha(chitpavan) i.e the sect from which Nathuram godse was coming had faced these atrocities. This is totally false information.Every sect of brahmin in maharashtra had faced these things. They only saw "Brahmin" thats it.
After that they came up with one law( kul kayda) i.e. kasel tyachi jamin......means if people had labours in farms then the government considered the labour as an owner of that land. By this loop hole, they took lands/farms of almost all brahmin families. So after that, brahmins left villages slowly and moved to cities. My grandfather told that one of the congress minister in his meeting ,he said that "this is the opportuninty to take lands from brahmins, this is the law and pass this information to your relatives and capture the lands" . 1-2 brahmin people were there in that meeting and after listening this, they moved out of that meeting .So people got to know about it.I think these are literally pre planned things, to vanish the brahmin identity from maharashtra. In the freedom movement, 80-90% freedom fighters were brahmins and after independance brahmins received this reward from society. Now a days in a village you rarely saw a brahmin families. Now majority brahmins are living in a group in cities.

All the expenses of the sharing meal program were also borne by Bhagoji sheth kir. All Hindu Ganesh festival in that time was started with the donation of Bhagoji Sheth Kir only.
Bhagojisheth Kir used to pay Rs 1000/- per month to Veer Savarkar, if you compare this amount, at that time the British collector was paid Rs 60/- (sixty) per month.
Despite the British rule, Bhagoji Sheth Kir did a lot for Hindus as well as his revolutionary friend Swantantry Veer Savarkar.

Savarkar Ji's story definitely needs to be told. Whatever one's politics might be, he deserves the respect of a freedom fighter. However, his story needs to be told with factual accuracy. A lot of what Randeep Hooda said is factually incorrect including the fact that there were not just three major parties in India during independence. The Hindu Mahasabha had a minimal presence at the time and other parties were bigger. It is unfortunate that the host of the podcast rarely cross-questions his speakers, allowing them a platform to say whatever they want, unopposed. The public believes whatever is said because who has the time to READ.
Then READ and speak up what are facts. Hooda has researched and so can say what he says . This is not a debate but an interview of a movie maker.
