- Cellular Jail, also known as Kalapani Jail, is one of the most important national monuments from the days of the Indian freedom struggle.
In this episode, you will see the full history of the Cellular jail with Mr. Pradeep Deswal Ji.

The Cellular Jail is an old colonial prison situated in Port Blair the capital of Andaman and Nicobar islands. Constructed by the Britishers during their colonial rule in India, the jail was used particularly to exile Indian political prisoners. It was used to house many notable freedom fighters such as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Batukeshwar Dutt and Sachindra Nath Sanyal.
The prison is now a memorial to the political activists and freedom warriors from India who fought for the country’s independence.

Jab light and sound show dekha to aankho me aansu the aur jail ke gate se bhr nikalte hue yhi khyal man me tha ki pta nhi hamare kitne hi krantikaari ko yha se vapas bhr nikalna naseeb nhi hua jaise aaj hum iss jail ke gate se nikal rhe hai aur bas yha ghumne ke liye aaye hai aur us time logo ki ruh kaanp jaati thi kaala pani ke naam se hi aur hum aaj yha aram se ghum ke nikal rhe hai...
I had tears in my eyes 2 times while watching Randeep Hooda's Savarkar movie.
1. When #Savarkar shown walking through the #Andamanjail passage and in the background #VandeMataram #song was played.
2. When his wife and brother came to see him in jail. The dialogue goes as, "हमारा १ परिवार देश के लिये बलिदान होगा, पर देश के हजारो परिवार आझादी कि खुली सांस तो ले सकेंगे."
Not going to lie, these 2 scenes made me cry for minutes. What a movie. Veer Savarkar ji deserves this kind of worldwide portrayal.

But savarkar pleaded and wrote 3forgiveness letters to the british to support them and got independence and life long pension 85 rupees and liquor and amenities and worked lifelong for british not supporting freedom movement

The great freedom fighter "Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar"❤❤❤
Sir, The reason for V shape or the 7 wings is as follow: These type of Jails are called "Panopticon" which was disigned by the English Philosopher Jeremy Benthem to instigate "Discipline" and "security" in prison. As we see in the architecture that there is one central office that connects all the 7 wings of the jail and the Jailer sitting in the central office can see all the wings all the barracks from a single place, so all the prisoners would have a fear that they are being watched even if there is no Jailer there, as the central office usually used to be dark. So all the prioners would not dare to escape and remain in order as they always are in doubt of being supervised. Britishers designed these Jails to control the prisoners with less Manpower and psychologically controlling our Freedom Fighters.
It was impossible for the jailer to keep a watch on all the prisoners at the same time, but due to the possibility that anyone can be watched from a single point our freedom fighters were psychologically moulded to act as if they are under constant surveillance.
