I attached a 22" long x 5 inch wide piece of rubber to the back of my mower. Cost me 10 dollars and stripes amazingly well. Just a thought if you don't want to spend alot

No more sleepless nights of tossing and turning because I can't get the lawn stripes I desire so dearly. I love mine! I bought this off Amazon for 70.00 yes it was pricey but my yard looks great! In the end I believe the product will add value to my home by increasing the curb appeal.
I tried to make one first by following some CZcams videos, needless to say that method provided very crooked stripes. Also due to the weight, the jerry rigged roller sometimes came off!!! Very dangerous if it hits that blade!

Let me tell you people something, get a 2ft 2x4 and tie it to the back of your mower. Add weight to the 2x4 by taping a liter soda bottle with sand onto it.

All a striper kit does, is put weight on the grass with a wheel to allow it lay down causing strips, I do this with a rider an a push mower its quiet simple

This is why we have rear roller mowers in the UK.
Forget buying gadgets, or worse, hauling extra weight around. To stripe a lawn, simply set the deck height higher on one side and mow your yard in a loop, not alternating passes. When you come back around, the new cut path will be the low end butting up to the high end of the last pass. That subtle change in grass height will reflect light differently and create the stripe. Yes, it really works; been doing it for years.
Hi, I want to follow your advice but I got one question: How high do I have to set the front wheels and how high the rear wheels must be set? I'm new at this and I wanna impress my customers :-)
My mower (riding) has pins in either side of the deck. I set one side one hole lower.

+SlayerzXtreme The difference is from side to side, not front and back. One side of your machine needs to be higher than the other. You could put larger wheels on one side if your machine sets the height of the mower with one lever for all wheels.

I'm glad I have real hobbies. Also, that my wife doesn't make my life a living hell to the point that I'd rather be mowing my yard twice instead of being in the house with her.
This is nice but can be done without this attachment also. Professional looks can be accomplished with simple steps and know how. Anyone can perform this with a basic self propelled mower and even a ride on mower. I know because its my occupation to be able to perform this task to create these amazing looking lawns. I'm sure this would make it extra easy for the average homeowner, but me personally I would rather save the money and do what I already know how.

This is from the difference in reflected light from the blades of grass being laid over by the striper in different (alternating) directions. The strength of this effect also depends on the grass type and cut height.
Rolling different ways pushes the grass over different directions.
The best way to get a striped lawn is to buy a mower which is roller driven.
Agreed- preferably a 10 or 12 blade cylinder mower. You can get amazing mowers built for tennis courts and bowling greens but they come at a price- some cost as much as a small car...
Cylinder mower is UK speak for reel mower.

thats all that product is a roller on the back of your mower you can just buy one them old fashion push along rollers. And they last 100 times longer and are 100 times cheaper second hand. check out ebay

I like how they stole the idea from Simplicity mowers. Simplicity with the full free floating deck that had A full roller on the back along with A really great vacuum lift deck design gives the best quality cut And look. Around the late 90s everyone stared finding ways to copy them. Stripes do make A great looking lawn, if I had A lawn small enough for A push mower I would have one.

you never ever cut the edges first that is always the last thing you cut, otherwise you will cut the same grass two times and use a lot more gas, that is how we do in the golf club

A properly striped lawn is done by mowing it properly. These stupid rollers over compact the soil and make it harder for water to soak in. It will also cause your grass to become moldy.

To each, their own... Personally, I've always thought that stripedy and plaid lawns look completely unnatural.
I lived in a neighborhood years ago, all of the neighbors were BIG TIME lawn snobs... I'd always get "suggested" that I should have a pattern on my lawn.
I assured all the neighbors that I'd have it handled the next season.
For the remainder of the present season, I collected every kind of hoop that I could find... Barrel sealing rings, hula hoops, crochet hoops... All kinds of hoops.
Come that next Spring, I laid out all of those hoops in a cohesive PATTERN... Fertilizer inside each and every hoop.
Well, they got their pattern, alright... Gorgeous, dark green POLKA DOTS on a lighter green background.
Hilarity ensued.

A waste of money, time, and gasoline, if you ask me, but whatever blows your mind, I guess. You could probably make one of these out of 4" PVC pipe and attach it to your lawnmower.
