    I don't know why people class the Montage as a 'workstation', or even why Yamaha 'thinks' that the Montage is a workstation, because it's not. At least in the way that the majority of us think of as a workstation. The Montage does NOT have a traditional 16-track sequencer in the way that every other past or current workstation does, because they 'assume' that the majority of end users will be using their DAW for that on their computer, and nothing could be further from the truth. The Montage is more of a synthesizer than a workstation. Every other workstation listed here ARE workstations. It's a shame that the Kronos has been discontinued, but in saying that, at least on this list, my pick would be the Korg Nautilus. The only thing that is missing in the Nautilus that I HOPE that Korg bring back to their next workstation (whenever that will be), is KARMA. Also just to correct you, the Nautilus is also available in 61 keys, as well as 73 and 88 keys, and bear in mind too that Nautilus have also brought out an AT model of the Nautilus (aftertouch), but it's only available in the 61 and 88 key model or as an upgrade for the original Nautilus 61 or 88-key workstations.

      @@adamvarghesesatish3337 In a nutshell, a synthesizer is just that. It allows you to recreate and manipulate raw sounds from the ground up to make new and interesting sounds (think of an MS-20, Korg Karma or Polysix from ages ago) A workstation as the name suggests, think of these as a studio with keys. It allows you to sequence tracks and mix them, and sample sounds you create from your own instruments (guitars etc), amongst other things. A workstation also allows you to connect them to a computer via USB or MIDI and record in your tracks to a DAW. Hope that makes sense. Basically, a synthesizer you can only make and manipulate sounds. A workstation you can that plus everything else. Korg Kronos, Nautilus, M3, OASYS, Yamaha Montage (to a point), Yamaha MOTIF (all of them) and most arrangers like the Korg PA series and Yamaha TYROS and GENOS after that, they're all workstations.

      @@jordanking7711 oh ok. Thanks man. Because when i searched up synthesuzers on google, i see these big boxes with tons of knobs and very few keys.... and i was confused between what that type of synth was and what a synth workstation was. Just to clarify.... all proffesional keyboards are wprkstations.... workstations can be divided into 2.... arrangers and synthesizers..... am i correct? And then you have MIDI keyboards but every workstation is a MIDI keyboards in itself yes?

    • @jordanking7711

      @@adamvarghesesatish3337 Yes to both. The definition of a workstation is sounds (of course), effects and a sequencer. Any keyboard that can do those three things is a workstation (arranger or otherwise because even arrangers are workstations). Also yes even workstations can be used as MIDI controllers by connecting said keyboard via USB or MIDI to a computer to be used in a DAW (Cubase, Ableton Live, Pro Tools etc)

      @@adamvarghesesatish3337 Also just to let you know, those boxes with lots of knobs and not many keys, (like the Korg MS-20, PolySix etc) they are called analog synthesizers. And they are used mainly for sound creation and live performance, and nothing else. That’s why they are synthesizers and not workstations.

    Which is the best grand piano sound on a portable with built in speakers?

    • @meestuinier4486
      @meestuinier4486 Před 3 měsíci

      Get an electric piano if all you care about is good piano spunds / playability. Those workstations dont have built in sleakers.
      I am using two roland FP30s and they are great machines, with very capable built in speakers. When you plug them into a good PA it becomes truely next level and its a lot cheaper than a workstation.

    • @Alex.onion_
      @Alex.onion_ Před 2 měsíci

      Probably the fantom with his vpiano. With the ph5 + the vpiano + the extremely qualitative effects of the fantom + the superposition of sounds, the fantom is far above it. Ya Yamaha is also a sure bet in terms of piano sound. To give a comparison, the fantom 8 is the piano equivalent of the rd2000 which is exclusively reserved for the piano.

Where specific workstations contain synthesizer functions where as synthesizers themselves only function as synthesizers?
