    Your comment in the video is entirely correct, there are no other T18 rebuild videos that I could find either, so when I looked again and found this one I was so psyched. Thank you for putting it together and posting, it is really helping me!

    The problem with the main gear removal was you hadn't opened the beer yet. Had you opened it first, no lost parts.

    This is a great trans I did a E4od to T-18 swap in a 96 F-150 the auto felt bogged out in every gear a real slug the 4 speed made a world of difference now its a real pulling rig I did a locker in the rear as well. I also added a giant Aluminum radiator to get rid of the auto radiator with cooling line fittings now Im working on hand porting an extra head I got just for kicks.

      Of course I'll have more videos! I am in the middle of moving and the content has slowed down. Plus I just recorded repairing my wife's 2014 explorer so I'll be posting that as well. Should have a new video soon!

    Great video on a top loader trans. I believe this video would be helpful in taking apart a NP435 manual trans.

    Thanks for the video man. I am in the process of rebuilding a T-19 and though Novak sent instructions, I have watched your video several times and will likely watch it several more times. I have a 77 CJ 7 with a 1971 Mustang Mexican 302 High Nickel. It had the T-150 3 speed, but syncros are gone. I was given a T-19 and a NP 435 and opted to install the T-19. I'm in the process of installing a Novak Adapter to go to my Dana 20. ....... I'm not real happy with my current clutch egagement setup. Ford Mustang Bellhousing with Bell Crank Assembly from the Jeep. I know there are some 400 dollar fixes, but will be checking O.D. on front bearing retainer against a Ford Ranger Hydraulic set up. Hoping I can configure it and make it more efficiently. Thanks, and keep the videos coming!

      Hey man no problem! There aren't to many videos on these old transmissions. I went looking for one when I was going to tear mine down. So I figured I'd make one lol. Sounds like a sweet setup on that CJ7. You can't beat these old 4 speed for wheeling. I will resume marketing more videos once I am settled in my new shop! Thank you!

      What did you use to clean the case and parts you were re-using. I've got mine completely torn down, and have bout 4 cans of brake cleaner, and I have a pressure washer, but no sandblaster. looks like you used a sandblaster on inside of case. Looks factory fresh. @@ChampWorksGarage

    If your doing all that change the strut keys and springs as well as new synchro rings polish the gears where the synchro rings rest. The Idler gear set looks nice Bro you needed a small parts kit with new thrust washers and all expendable bits ive did this before trust me you dont want to re-work. Also please use Royal Purple gear box oil you will be please with it.

    Well I’m not sure if this will help me 100% but THANK YOU for making this! I’ve been trying to rebuild my ‘69 bronco 3speed and couldn’t figure out how to get it out of the case because it wouldn’t slide out the front like the manual says.

      Should be very similar in they way they come apart. I have a 1975 Bronco with a 3 speed and I am getting ready to 5 speed swap it!

    Nice video. Not withstanding the frequent use of the term "roller bearings", I did not see a single "roller bearing" in the entire video. I saw bearing needles and bearing rollers but no roller bearings. There is a difference. Also, the loose balls are not ball bearings, they are bearing balls or check balls. Thanks for posting your video, it will help when I go to rebuild my own transmission.

    Thanks for posting this. Helped out in my t19 rebuild. I am down to replacing the output bearing. How would you suggest i press it on? Any tips? I have access to a press, but dont want to make a $50 mistake and have to buy another bearing. Edit: got it all done, finally. Shifts ans drives better than new. Thanks again!

    Next time put a zip tie or a band clamp over the detents to hold them in place! That way you don't have to hold them from flying away.

    When you reinstalled the first gear/second gear clutch hub assembly, did you consider feeling for any back and forth play between the two snap rings?

  • @georgeadolf666
    @georgeadolf666 Před 2 lety

    Just curious, my input shaft has an identical chip like yours where the snap ring would go in. It doesnt look to be debilitating to the snap ring surface so long as I secure the opening of the ring away from the chip. I don't have a new input shaft. This should be okay, right?
