Is Foden the player of the season? I don't know but what I do know is keepers and defenders are at a disadvantage in this quest. How do I know that? Well, the empirical evidence of recent past winners. The writers choice in 71-72 and 73-73 was Gordon Banks and Pat Jennings. Those days are long gone. Oh and the first PFA player of the year in 73-74 was Norman Hunter. Yes Norman. Yes I do know Virgil was chosen in 2019 but it doesn't change the trend.
