- Grant learns that the Kirbys are actually a middle-class, divorced couple who are looking for their son Eric and Amanda's boyfriend Ben, who went missing on the island. Government agencies declined to help the Kirbys, so they brought Grant along as an expert because of his past experience at Jurassic Park. To their dismay, Grant reveals that he's only been to Isla Nublar, not Isla Sorna, and as such is just as lost as they are.

“You mean there are 2 islands with dinosaurs on them?”
Actually, there are 6. Nublar and Sorna are just the most popular
In the NOVELS, the other islands were SUPPOSED to be the other parts of the park!
There’s 4 others with Dinos on ‘em
What are the names of the islands?
@@lexramstudios1386 Las Cinco Muertes (Spanish for The Five Deaths) includes Isla Matanceros, Isla Muerta, Isla Sorna, Isla Tacano, and Isla Peña. Isla Nublar stands north of these islands
It'd be interesting to see some spinoff films taking place on the other islands.
The part when he says you probably won’t get off this island alive always sounds spooky to me 😰
@Vince P that was technically the point, the Kirby's didn't understand what they got themselves into looking for Alan & Ben on that island. Alan Grant does, he's already been in that situation before with Lex & Tim.
@@rickymoranjr9609 Gotta admire their determination though.
'We're not leaving this island without our son.'
@@kyndrablankenship1758 mmm-hmm, that's right
@@rickymoranjr9609 He spoke a lot of truth there. The Kirby's weren't adventure seekers as they claimed to be.
@@Gillan1220 yep, that's true
I was disappointed that Grant decking Paul Kirby was off-screen.
I agree, especially since that was a well deserved punch Alan gave Paul
I always thought as a kid that sound was the Spino taking that last chomp
Then grew up and realized they sometimes splice audio between scenes like that
@@kyze8284 Yup! A light bulb goes off above my head everytime I rewatch this scene now.
Isla Nublar was supposed to be something for the tourists. Isla Sorna (site b) was a workers only island right before a hurricane wiped the facility out
pretty sure hammond was the hurricane
@@kohakkanuva3224 he meant a massive storm
Yep, and because it was a workers' only island it was far more dangerous and life threatening than Isla Nublar ever was.
Is that true?
Really, a fukin hurricane
The kirbys should have contacted Ian Malcolm because he was experienced on Isla Sorna
They would've but Ian Malcolm would've Refused. 😕
Plus This Island looks way more Different than the Island from The Lost World.
@@Depre666 yeah true, also maybe this part of isla sorna is a different part from what was seen in the lost world?
@@ashprice1123 that's right, Plus we haven't seen a Crazy Huge Man-Eating Spinosaurus in The Lost World. 😅
I seriously doubt he would want go go through this twice already.
@@silence6813 well he does in Dominion lol
The Kirbys clearly did not do their research (part of it should've been actually obtaining a copy of Alan's book). Also, it's their fault (or at least Amanda's) that Eric is stuck there in the first place by letting him go to an island that was restricted by the government. Why does no one call them out for that?
I thought about that too part of me thought maybe Amanda didn’t know about the island trip but it’s becoming less and less like how you let your boyfriend Ben (they were dating) take your son into another country and not know but she explained more yeah she knew
I feel for Alan grant because he got tricked by the Kirby’s thinking their going on a expedition but no he got tricked because the Kirby’s are looking for their son
I’m glad he had a supporter, which made the character Billy as more than just an important character in the movie.
Plus he wasn't even getting paid,
What else can they do if no one will help them?
It's truly the Kirby's fault, that they put Alan and Billy's life in danger
They were desperate to find their son. They grabbed the wrong guy. Isla Nublar was supposed to be something for the tourists. Isla Sorna (site b) was more of a workers only island.
@@davidserna1420 Got that right
Don’t forget, they’re responsible for the mercs deaths as well
I think what Billy did by stealing raptor eggs went even further, unless wanna blame that on the Kirbys as well for lying about helping to fund the dig site
@@edwardkennedy8494oviraptor confirmed to have been in the movie
You all took him to the wrong island.
Got that right
They really were stupid. The writers made sure of that.
I wish there was a Jurassic Park 3 and Journey 2 The Mysterious Island crossover, Like Isla Sorna was part of the Mysterious Island. Or the other way around.
Paul- We called everyone .We did everything we could.
No one would help us. The Costa Rican government said this is a no-fly zone.
The U.S. Embassy, that's our U.S. Embassy...
...told us we should accept the inevitable. Can you believe that?
Billy- You let a 12-year-old go parasailing alone?
Paul- No!
Amanda- He wasn't alone he was with a friend
Paul- Ben Hildebrand.
Amanda- Paul and I divorced over a year ago.
Alan- All right, so why me?
Paul- He said we needed someone who'd been on the island before.
Mr. Udesky- Yes, but I did not tell you to kidnap somebody.
Alan- I have never been on this island.
Paul- Sure you have. You wrote that book.
Billy- That was lsla Nublar. This is lsla Sorna, Site B.
Mr. Udesky- You mean there are two islands with dinosaurs?
Paul- Alright you stay out of this
Alan- Already so how long they been missing?
Paul- 8 weeks
Amanda- Almost 8 weeks now
Alan- Billy. We'll go back to the plane, salvage what we can.
Then we make for the coast.
Paul- Dr. Grant, we're not leaving this island without our son.
Alan- Then you can go and look for him. Or you can stick with us, as long as you don't hold us up.
Either way...
...you probably won't get off this island alive.
So? What do we do?
They government warned them that the island was a no fly zone.
@@jaredruff9823
Well, we search for *your son.*
@@DrasticFox2004 In the direction they're going.
@@jaredruff9823
That’s it. Excellent!

I imagine the costa rican people (and the rest of Central America and the Caribbean) were glad to live with dinosaurs...😑
0:30 You let a 12-year-old go parasailing alone?
No! No.
Alright so why me?
Can understand and admire the length that parents would go to bring their children but the manner Paul and Amanda did is just poor. Not doing any sort of research on either of the islands when Alan Grant has never been here, lying about almost everything from Kirby enterprises to K2 and just all so wrong in many directions. Can understand in the case of desperate times for desperate measures to save eric but not doing the simple things like research was just dumb
"The Costa Rican government said this is a no-fly zone..."
Gee, I wonder why's that the case...
What I find absolutely crazy about this is the fact that they never even bothered to reach out to Dr. Malcolm. Then again he probably never would’ve wanted to go on the island in the first place so he probably would’ve just told them good luck.
They should have ask ian Malcom.
Knowing Ian, he would've just refused
He definitely would’ve said no
Alan: I have never BEEN on this island!.
Paul: Sure you have. You wrote that book.
Me: And you obviously never read it.
Paul: Excuse me?
Billy: That was Isla Nublar, this is Isla Sorna. Sight B!
Clearly shows that the Kirbys didn't do very decent research
Paul Kirby= Kirby Paint and Tile Plus
Udesky = Booking Agent
Liars 🤥
The US Embassy must be either be real lazy to do something or they are just a bunch of cowards.
Most likely the former.
After what happen at the San Diego Incident (from the film the Lost World), I don’t blame them.
Probably because the Costa Rican government declared Isla Sorna a no-fly zone.
I mean they probably thought Eric was dead, which is completely realistic as it's a 12 year old kid on an island full of animals that will kill you whether they're herbivores or carnivores since both can get very territorial. Not even sure when they contacted the embassy either as the longer the period the more likely the kid is dead. Most likely they contacted them at least a month after their son went missing, which would also put the kid at risk of dying of natural causes as you need water and food just to survive.
It's the US government, so I'd assume lazy
Does it really matter which island he's been on? Both islands have dinosaurs running loose. And it's been what? 3-5 years since he's been to Isla Nublar?
You don't forget an experience like that...
@@gravityfallscanada What I mean is that a few years is enough time for nature to make a few landscape changes. Islands are a hotspot for hurricanes which always cause a ton of damage. Even if they were on Isla Nublar it might look different than from when he was there last.
@@kyndrablankenship1758
True. I'm not defending this writing, but wouldn't Grant be a good candidate to point out the left over landmarks after such an event.
Regardless, it's dumb.
The Kirby's thought Isla Nublar and Sorna was the same
There was not that many dinosaurs species on Isla Nublar since the Park wasn’t open yet also the island is much smaller has boundaries, fences, cages, and restraining technology.
I don't know why Joe Johnston made Paul and Amanda Kirby tourists that owned a small company that specialized in home makeovers/remodeling of bathroom fixtures and kitchens instead of agents disguised as tourists escorting Alan Grant to recover Ben Hildebrand and Eric, since one trespasser could disrupt an ecosystem on Sorna, and has to prevent the disruption with no other choice. And I also why they didn't write Udusky, Cooper and Nash as fundamental armed forces instead of booking agents. Is he sure that he cut the script where teens were stranded on the island because he thought it was more of an episode of 'Friends' when he made the characters that way?
I’m sure he just liked the sound of “Kirby Paint and Tile Plus”. I’ve read the complete visual history of JP not long ago..
I want to see Isla Pena, Muerte, Tacano and Matanceros ...
Dr Grant it's Time you did some explaining mr Kirby
WHY would they let their 12 year old son go on an illegal paragliding trip to an Island that's been declared a no fly zone by the Costa Rican and US governments?!?
My parents didn't let me go to a water park alone until I was 17.
Okay, so. There's another island with dinosaurs. No fences this time! And you want to send people in....very few people on the ground! And who are these 4 lunatics you're tricked to con into this?
1:23 - 1:26
I really wonder what happened to Ben
He's dead did you saw his skeleton when they found his parachute
@@jeffreywilliams8499 he must’ve got eaten by the little dinosaurs like the dude in number two
He must’ve been eaten by Raptors since they’ve landed near the Raptors Territory. You know when Amanda Kirby ran off until they stumbled upon the Raptor nests 🪺
He most likely sustained fatal internal injuries from the crash as he and Eric landed on the island.
@@RavenclawFtW3295 He was alive when they crashed. The camera footage they find at the crash site proves it. But it's never really explained how he died unless he accidentally died trying to disconnect his parachute.

Dr Grant’s got a point. I agreed with him 1:24
What's no fly-zone?
No fly zone means it’s a restricted area that nobody can travel to
