Its weird to see the Evo X being referred to as old but it makes sense, its a 15 year old platform. Guess thats just a testament to how futuristic the styling was when these were first released compared to its competitors.

Bought mine last September , 2013 Gsr just hitting 24xxx miles(38,600 km)
Still a head turner in my area and always has me smiling! Still wouldn’t mind a 8 or 9 though.

Not only are aftermarket evo x clutches are horrible , the plastic clutch master cylinder tends to fail too. Overtime , the biting point gets higher and higher to the point where you can't even feather it with your heel.
I had one that was 400hp with a Ogura twin plate clutch , it was a pain in the ass to move off smoothly and hill stops always gave me anxiety.

My dream to have one of these 😮 Never had the chance to test one out tho. When I treat myself to a newer car this is the ONE. ❤

I have an evo x I have had for 7 years. I also go to auto torque so yeah Chris fixes my car . Old car now . Bit an amazing car for its day . Aggressive looks .pretty . But yup on the sst paddle shift the clutch is so weak . Its fun to feel like Micheal shumacker. I love the paddle shift . But it acts like a twat sometimes and it can't handle the torque . My advice is get a manual if you can . But smashing though the gears on a twin clutch is alot of fun .with a tune remap and after market exhaust .
And auto torque are cool . Not cheap . But do a nice job . Id say best in Buckinghamshire ❤

I had a classic Impreza many years ago always wanted a Evo 8. Would love an Evo X. Much better looking than the new Impreza.
I imported myself a jdm manual awesome cars with a few mods and a map, owned 3-10 the x is the best handling by miles.
In the MLR sprint series one destroyed everyone on oulton park rally circuit it found grip where nothing else could. I was in a spec c impreza it danced rings around it very clever 4wd system on those cars.
Do you know if yours is Ulez compliant?
@@amapolishplummer mine was a 09 so can’t say for sure .. I’ve just imported a 2013 sti spec c that is ulez compliant so I would have thought so. My advice to anyone buy one asap prices flying up in Japan on manuals

It’s amazing how well placed the adverts are. I avoid using adblocker and likes. I’m not in a position to pay to remove ads and feel hammered by advertising. It’s excessive. Never the less, great episode. ✌🏻👍🏻🇬🇧

@@DlZZEE I’m a heavy CZcams subscriber. I feel the advertising placements are targeted and feel exasperated by them at times. This episode is one example. I’ve never avoided the ads at all in support for content creators. That I feel is important. However, at times it’s clear to me why others use adblockers or download the episodes for viewing and avoiding advertisements. Thanks.

The evo's clutch is the weak point because the throw out bearing just pulls right out when you start banging gears. Mine didn't even last 1 gear bang on an stage unsprung competition clutch. Because it used tge OEM 2 piece collar lock. Needless to say mine has an act monoloc in it now.

If it was tuned better it wouldn't dump so much fuel in the exhaust on decel and wreck fuel economy. That’s what causes the annoying popping.

Is it true that parts for Evo’s are becoming harder to find and cost more? Are the running costs of the older Evo’s financially viable? Seems like they would cost a fortune now to run one

Had to import front studs from Japan (for my canadian Final Edition), couldn't find them anywhere. And no aftermarket (but it's a good thing). It cost me like 4000$CA. And when I'll change the whole brakes (pads and discs) it'll cost me like 10k$CA. So I sometimes cry, but not as much as I love driving it. (I'll keep her stock because nobody is...except for clutch which is already gone.)
When you drive one the money won’t matter. Nothing beats something that makes you smile the moment you turn it on. Theres nothing that compares to feel except maybe a gtr

Easily the worse part . Holds 11 gallons , you get maybe 12-20 mpg. It’s terrible lol

If you drive an evo gentle you get around 270miles out the tank
The evo x is the only evo I like. They have so much potential but aren’t easy to keep alive in the Uk

I had a tear up with a 2008 imprezza sti in my mk6 golf R around some twisty roads in 🇲🇽 and absolutely annihilated it.
Never liked the evo x at all. 6 & 9 are the dream for me.

It is VERY good. As a SST owner for over than 5 years, this car is supercar stuff. My SST is built and tuned. The traction of the X, is out of this world. Better than any Supercar.
Once your X is built, it's a MONSTER. It will keep up with rich guy supercars even beat it.
Yeh I had a built 12 plate sst and conservatively tuned it to 500 and that thing was fucking wicked for a 20 something thousand dollar car lol
