I think Leon Russell blows everybody out of the water here. He turns a hillbilly country jam, into a nasty groovy, Jazzy bluesy jam during his solo. Totally out of the “box”. What a legend!
Sad to see Chet and Earl gone but so grateful they were ever here. Nobody contributed more to the guitar than Chet and nobody to the 5 string banjo more than Papa Earl. We love you guys and miss you something awful.
You won't see the likes of great, great musicians like these again. Who will fill their shoes? Just sit back, turn up the volume and listen to what great music should be like.
I'm 22, and let me tell you, my generation has it all wrong! These are the musicians we should look up to! Duane has the best guitar tone I can imagine. Twang's the Thang!
Absolutely! Although I was familiar with Duane Eddy's music, I'd never seen him before now. I think his look here sorta matches his trademark deep guitar sound. 😉
Used to have a couple of Flats and Scruggs Albums growing up. They came to our town and played at the Pioneer Picnic and while in town they rented a place across the play ground from where I lived. One of them was out under a big maple with his banjo, so we all sat around him and listened to him play When he was finished, he went into their bus and came out and gave each of us one of their corncob pipes, he gave me three, one for each of use kids. We would always gather around that big maple and listen to them play, it was easier and did not cost us anything, like it would if we went to the Picnic to listen to them. Fond memories of growing up..
Greetings and God bless our family baby !!! I wish we were at home listening to this song !!! I love you and I play Blue Ridge Mountain Girl...Every day for our 10th year anniversary!!!!!! I cant believe in a few months it will be 11 years !!!!
What fun to listen to! When the greats gather together, it's got to be good. I have to say that as many guitar pickers as there are out there, Duane Eddy alone has his sound, and what a treat it is to hear. You know, it just don't seem right that Anita Cochran plays as good as she is beautiful. Talk about having it all!!
Priceless talent and Gentlemen making music that touching your soul to you toes! Remember practicing 6 to 8 hrs every day possible to play their style. Love of music and making people grin! Those were the days the rest of my time was sitting on a tractor working the land. At that time most in neighborhood had black and white TV, cows, pigs, pastures and acres of gardens and corn. A treat was to buy one 45 record at music store for $1 when you made 50¢ an hour if lucky. A one lb Hershey bar was $1 and coke 5¢! Phone number was three numbers and prayer before lunch at school. Lucky living in those times of respect, honor, and faith! God Bless the USA and REAL USA CITIZENS!!!
The first time I listened to my parent's copy of "rebel rouser" by Duane Eddy changed me as a musician. It was raw and brave. It lit the path of music I have enjoyed travelling ever since....
I know, my precious Daddy is looking down from heaven smiling. You, will never know how much I miss and love you. RIP Daddy, we will meet again someday. Much love Daddy.
Grateful that one item on my bucket list was to see Earl Scruggs in concert before he passed. Even in his twilight years he was still a better banjo player than 90% of Nashville.
What a great song by the most talented musicians. I know who all of them are although I was not really into country music when I was younger. Loved Leon. Thanks for this video.
Because, as part of "The Wrecking Crew" he arranged, played on, and/or produced some of the all-time greatest hits. Google him. His credits speak for themselves. And he IS a great piano player.
I liked watching Leon play the guitar with Joe Cocker back in the late 60s early 70s with that top hat on. It's a shame he had to move on with Chet , Earl, and so many others. He will be missed.
Three of my all time Favorites,Back in the mid fifties my music taste was for instrumentals, I started with Chet,Bert Weeden, and Duane Eddy,Sandy Nelson and many more too numerous to mention. At around this time i was introduced to Country & Western Music and this has been my preferred music ever since. Thanks & Regards From The UK
Earl Is a genius on the banjo and I've always loved Duane Eddy. Chet Atkins may be the best guitar player ever. Vince Gill is great too but he played the mandolin on this piece. He's really good on that too. Anita Cochran sounds a lot like Duane Eddy. What a great band!
Being a player of the five string, nothing's better than hearing Mr. Earl play Rueben. He has said many times, Rueben was the tune he first "discovered" the three finger syncopation he made his own. It can be played with two fingers but the world of Bluegrass would have been unimagined without the "Scrugg's" style development and execution. {The rest of the band is pretty good too! The bass improv makes ya' smile!}

brings tears to your eyes, don't it? RIP Chet and Earl
And Leon too.
I'm 22, and let me tell you, my generation has it all wrong! These are the musicians we should look up to! Duane has the best guitar tone I can imagine. Twang's the Thang!
We as a nation need a lot more of this. Great wholesome entertainment. 👌Just gotta love it.
Duane Eddie completely defines himself with a note and a chord at the very end. Sweet!

The pro bowl of bluegrass! All legends. No matter how bad your day is this will make you smile.
What I like, is that its so laid back they all let each other play!
Grandissimi musicisti!!!
This needs to be everywhere
Damm. Wish I had that talent.

What talent on one stage. Leon Russell, the Scruggs, Chet and Duane plus Vince Gill. My God

Goodness Gracious what a fantastic Group of The Greatest Musicians in History thanks for putting this up !

just plain awesome
WOW! Amazing Talent!
The first time I listened to my parent's copy of "rebel rouser" by Duane Eddy changed me as a musician. It was raw and brave. It lit the path of music I have enjoyed travelling ever since....

Too much talent!
Grateful that one item on my bucket list was to see Earl Scruggs in concert before he passed. Even in his twilight years he was still a better banjo player than 90% of Nashville.
Me too. I saw him back in the 70's when it was The Earl Scruggs Review. The 2 things I did right was to see the Beatles live (64) and Earl Scruggs.
I GOT CHILLS!!!And I don't think they're gonna go away for a while. My spine is tinglin'!
There was and never will be, anyone better than Mr Earl Scruggs
Too bad we can't hear Chet better, but Don Was made a really cool statement! Great musicians all around!
Impossible to sit still with this music, my kind of music!
Why does the radio not play this kind of music. Thanks for posting and God Bless the pickers as they are awesome. Raw Talent.
duane eddy's solo is just astounding, that twang...
I miss this music.
Don Was and Leon Russell ! In addition to all the other greats! Wow! I'm so glad I found this!
Fantastic
Holy shit. I'm so glad to have just watched this.
Priceless!! Thank you so much for sharing this rare treat of some of the best musical legends ever!! 😃
So much greatness on one stage.
What a great song by the most talented musicians. I know who all of them are although I was not really into country music when I was younger. Loved Leon. Thanks for this video.
Wow all that talent together.
Just brilliant !
Fantastic performance!
Strongest stage I have seen in a long time, holding up that much talent!!!
The best in the MUSIC WORLD!!

Anita you Vixen!
Wow . 4 1/2 minutes of heaven
Thanks, that's a lot of talent for only one stage.
Everyone in the rock n'roll hall of fame either directly or indirectly owe a debt of gratitude to MR Leon Russell.
Because, as part of "The Wrecking Crew" he arranged, played on, and/or produced some of the all-time greatest hits. Google him. His credits speak for themselves. And he IS a great piano player.
@@sammccue1359 And songwriter! He was so talented and too often overlooked. He could play anything and he did!
I liked watching Leon play the guitar with Joe Cocker back in the late 60s early 70s with that top hat on. It's a shame he had to move on with Chet , Earl, and so many others. He will be missed.
Love this! Can’t believe all the talent.
REST IN PEACE RANDY SCRUGGS

My God the talent! Thanks for posting this.
Some of The Best
A GREAT PERFORMANCE BY SUPERB ARTISTS
Earl Is a genius on the banjo and I've always loved Duane Eddy. Chet Atkins may be the best guitar player ever. Vince Gill is great too but he played the mandolin on this piece. He's really good on that too. Anita Cochran sounds a lot like Duane Eddy. What a great band!

Awesome!!👍👍👏👏🌹🌹❤️🇱🇷
.....Excellent, thank you.
absolutely fabulous.. no other words for it
Just a great piece of music.. love it
A thousand years of practice, practice, practice right there on that stage.
Yes Sir...but I think it's hard to sell that to the younger generation now.
Until I learned how to play several instruments, the idea of "practice" always seemed boring. Not boring at all; it's a meditation.
awesome group of musicians, just majical
Lord, what a band!
WOW !!!! They're all great!
Egads at the talent and experience on that one stage all at once,,,,
Being a player of the five string, nothing's better than hearing Mr. Earl play Rueben. He has said many times, Rueben was the tune he first "discovered" the three finger syncopation he made his own. It can be played with two fingers but the world of Bluegrass would have been unimagined without the "Scrugg's" style development and execution. {The rest of the band is pretty good too! That was almost too much talent on one stage. I'm surprised it didn't create a singularity of some kind. Thanks for putting this up.
What a bunch of great talent..RWB
Each great in their own way. What a tapestry.
Awesome
WOW! Sensational!

Randy was amazing on an acoustic.
Yeah too bad he's gone too. Passed on much too young.
