Congrats!! Great to start so young.... Tech is awesome, and so many career paths and options.
Bought total seminars 1101 and 1102 I'm doing a chapter a day then making flashcards on the chapter. Watch it at 1.5× speed and take good notes and you'll be fine, gonna buy practice exams from Jason dion and then use Professer messer once I'm done with core 1
did you pass?
Great video mate and Congratulations!!
this was very short and helpful.. subscribed !
Thanks for this informative video !👍
Keep going and never give up 👍🏾 we need you in the space 🚀
Haha thx for watching
Congrats on passing the test. I am taking mine soon... appreciate your input on this vid.
Thanks! Let me know when you pass!
@@TimothyNeubert Passed! I am getting ready for the second test! Thanks again for your input, I really think it made a difference in my prep.
@@dlachego1776 Congrats! Glad I could help. I found the second exam to be a little harder so just make sure you really understand everything!
Thanks for the info and I really appreciate you listing the names of your study instructors. Good luck to you!
No problem! Thanks for watching
Hi great vid very informative I have two questions I'd like to ask. Did you manage to pass only using Udemy courses and no textbooks ect? Also how many hours a day did you study within the month and a half?
Thanks Tim
Thanks for making this video! I'm currently studying for my A+ and while going over all the objectives it seemed overwhelming and I thought I'd be stuck studying for like a year! You made me feel a lot better lol
That is also what I thought at first, but it gets less overwhelming. Just got my sec + as well so don’t sweat anything, you got it!
@@TimothyNeubert What degree plan are taking with WGU? I'm in the Information Technology program and just finished the Security+ certification today. Congratulations on passing, it's a monster of a test. How long did you prepare for it? I studied around 8 weeks or so. I was working here and there though which slowed me down and I probably over prepared. I'll be taking itil next, hopefully it's not near as stressful 😂.
@@austinhickerson7311 I am in the cyber security and information assurance program. I’m surprised they had you do sec+ before Itil haha. Itil was not bad, you should be fine. I also have a itil vid if you haven’t seen it yet.
@@austinhickerson7311 probably took me around a month and a half
@@TimothyNeubert My mentor let me choose my classes. I wanted to get the CompTIA trifecta out of the way first. That way everything after should be easier or at the very least take less time to complete. I watched the itil video awhile back but was focused on security+ at the time. Did you just use the certmaster reading and Jason Dion's 2 hour course? I seen that he states it's just an overview course. The full course is on his website for just under $500 with the voucher 😬. Problem is, with WGU I don't need that voucher lol.
Nice boss!
Just bought my first mike myres udemy course, also bought his book and will look into jason dions practice test and exams when i’m comfortable
Great! Don't forget about professor Messer's video course. It is free
@@TimothyNeubert Im realizing that mikes course isn’t not really chronological. Should I start off by going along with the comptia official objectives numerically or stick alongside the course.
You can just stick alongside the course. Some courses do not go in chronological order because the instructors may find it easier for students to learn in a different order than CompTIA puts them in.
Good work , bro !
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing.. Did you use a book to study from?
what would you say was the most difficult topic on the core 1 and 2
Glad to see you passed the A+ so quickly. I'm stuck with a company that is making me study for 7 courses at the same time. Core1&2, Network+,security+ and ccna and 2 other courses. Once I've passed an internal test then the company will give me my vouchers for core1&2.. I wish I had just done what you've done. Congrats btw!!!
Thanks! Studying for so many different exams would definitely be difficult. You got it though! One step at a time!
@@TimothyNeubert one certification at a time. Lose your mind trying to study for 6 of them at once
@@WM-mu8ep Thats for sure!
@@TimothyNeubert I feel dumb i just heard of Cisco certifications today and I'm like wtf am I suppose to get those or the comptias wtf
ComPTIA certs are more broad and cover all major operating systems while Cisco certs are aimed at teaching you how to use Cisco devices (routers, switches etc.)
Did u take any notes or buy PM notes? How did u memorise everything?
Congrats on passing! Wondering if you had any study tips or how much you studied in a day? I work full time and have a family so am trying to do at least 30 minutes a night of Professor Messer's videos but not sure if that's enough.
Thanks! I studied for 25 - 30 hrs per week. Someone told me to try to get all the studying done in around a month so that information I learned would not be forgotten. If you could do more that would be good, but your situation sounds difficult. Just do what you can and remember the main concepts!
@@TimothyNeubert have you done your security+, if so , what materials did you use?
@@adedapoedward4417 I have not done it yet. Working on my net+ currently and will be on sec+ in probably a month or so
Subscribed here and to your IG dman bro you got S+ too! The trifeca! What a G!
I have an undergraduate and Master’s degree in Criminology and recently decided to go into Cyber Security, but I have no tech background. I’ve applied for a course to complete my A+, Network+ and Security+ with the hope to start my career. How long do you think it will take me to complete the A+? Unfortunately, I will have to study in the evenings and weekends as I have a full-time job due to rent/bills etc.
Really just depends on how hard you go at it. Look at the courses I listed in the vid and figure our how much you can do in a day. Try to finish the courses quickly then take the practice exams. If you are not scoring above an 85 then continue to study. You can also look at the objectives to see what you might already know. Maybe make a goal to complete it in under 2 months.
Hello, where can I study online to get the certificate?
Timothy I really like your content. Well done! One question: 180h study for a person with no experiance in IT will be enough to pass this test?
Depends on how fast information sticks for you but I would say that's definitely doable.
you said its only 5 PBQs on core 1? cuz i am about to take 1.
how did u approach studying, written notes, just watching, ect. Also did you study for both or did one test at a time? Almost done with 1001 from meyers course, not sure wether to take 1001 exam or go thru everything and take both.
I learn the best with video courses. I took some hand written notes and used flash cards for things like port numbers. You should definitely only study for one test at a time because they are both completely different. Study for first and pass it then study for second and pass that one👍
Congrats. Quick question. I know Jason Dion only has practice exams and simulations for A+, did you do something else to supplement?
I did use Jason Dions practice exams
Can you start by studying the jason dion practice exams along with the course and are the core 1 and 2 test questions same as the practice test on jason dion course
Yes, Jason dions course is great! The questions are worded similarly but they won’t be the exact questions you will find on the test.
All of them or some of them ?
Hey I appreciate the video! but I was wondering for me how long I should study for the comptia a+ and network + exams cause I have a pretty base line of knowledge on IT stuff and wanted your opinion on it thanks in advance!
Take a practice A+ exam and see where you stand.
@@TimothyNeubert where do you suggesting the best place for that?
Jason dions practice exams on udemy. You could also go the the comptia website and look at the concepts and see if you are comfortable with everything.
@@TimothyNeubert all right thanks I appreciate the help!
#roadto200
Is it necessary to purchase a book? . If so wondering if there is a book with short precise notes, not the mike meyers book with 1500 pages. Or would udemy videos be enough. I have purchased mike meyers udemy course and jason dions practise test. I am of non IT background with no IT experience.
I was in the same boat as you with no IT experience. If you enjoy reading you could get a book but I got through just fine only using the video courses.
Is Jason CZcams Video is good for learning. I don't want certificate. I will directly give Security+
Can you explain the simulations a bit more?
This is dope. I actually have a study group with hackers all over the world where we study for the Sec+ together and we break into boxes on hack the box. Would be sick to have you drop by sometime bro. It's a Discord we have study material laid out really intuitively and we all meet up whenever we can on Wed, Fri, and Saturday and study and shoot the shit together.
Sounds great! Drop the link or you can email it😀

thanks for the video i was wondering how many hours per day i would need to study to pass the exam in 8 weeks? aside from building myself a computer and watching a good amount of linus tech tips i don't have any other exp in the IT field
This depends on how quickly you can get through the material. 8 weeks is definitely doable though!
@@TimothyNeubert awesome thanks for the response!
Do you think it is worth getting an book like exam cram? I finished mike meyers course and going to next to messer
I did not use any books but if you like getting your information by reading, you should get it. I personally enjoy video courses better.
@@TimothyNeubert thanks tim. I just learned for these types of exams, reading the book will not work for me
With the expiration of 1001 and 1002 on the 20th do you believe the study material you mentioned still be relevant?
Not really, you should use updated material. I believed there is a lot of it out already.
I am taking the updated 1101 and 1102 exams. Dion’s lessons are for 1001 and 1002 A+ exams. Would that material still be fine as a study resource?
I have only taken 1001 and 1002 so not sure how close they are. I do not think you should do that though, 1101 and 1102 will probably cover info not covered in the previous version. I’m pretty sure professor messer has a course for 1101 and 1102.
@@TimothyNeubert thanks for the info brother. Good luck to you on your studies.
taking mine in one month. did you find myers or jason dion more useful?
I like Jason Dion better but you should do both
hey so on the Udemy app which jason Dion course do a i select for Comptia A+ ? Like whats the title
I believe I linked the course in the description
@@TimothyNeubert dont see it
My bad I just added it. Links should be there now.
Have you tried Jason and Mike or I can choose just one that's enough?
I would do both, you could go through one course and then look at the objectives to see if you know enough.
Hi i came from Reddit! What was the most difficult thing for you personally to learn/memorized in core 2? And in your opinion why are everyone saying 1002 is harder than 1001?
You should know port numbers and different tools and their uses. 1002 just felt a little more tricky imo
189 views...189 subscribers.... dope
I took professor messer and Jason dions course and took all of dions practice exams several times.. I just failed the 1101. There was so much shit on the actual test that was not covered by messer or dion. So damn frustrating smh
damn
I'm just going for my exams next week, weekend cram sessions for sure
U got this, don’t overwhelm yourself tho
@@TimothyNeubert I passed my Core 1 but I failed my Core 2... I'm just looking for any resource I can find, that was tough
@@leonardmoore2504 core 2 is definitely more difficult. Make sure you take all Jason Dions practice exams and try to remember the kinds of PBQs you got so you can be sure you get them right on the next go
@@TimothyNeubert Thanks bud, I'm taking a break before I go back at it. I know where I'm weak now... Back to the study in the morning
@@TimothyNeubert I just passed!!!! I now finished both Core 1 and Core 2!!!!!
Did you already have a job in IT before you got your A+? Also, are there fully remote jobs available for someone who only has an A+ certification?
I had no job experience before getting my A+. Might be difficult to get an interview with only an A+ but always worth a shot
My friend got his A+ cert with no IT experience, and then sent out hundreds of resumes through zip recruiter to get an interview. It’s a lot of work but it’s doable
Hello .do u have review questions on PDF...???
I do not have them on PDF, but Jason Dion has great practice tests on Udemy.
Can you share me notes or pdf?
Professor Messer has well written notes on his website. I only did some simple hand written notes.
3rd 😛
Congrats any advice on how to concentrate on studying and not be distracted?
How do i stay focused?
I personally study best in the morning so I tried to stick to that. I also broke down all the courses so I knew how long I could take for everything.
@@TimothyNeubert I’m taking it in late June or July.. dedicated 30 hrs a week to this . Using mike meyers book and professormesser videos
Going for my A+ in 39 days, and studying for sec+ right after too
Let me know how it goes!
Are you also getting it?
Currently studying for Net+ then going for Sec+ after
I was studying for sec+ since everyone recommended skipping a+ and net+, but a lot of job openings around here require the a+, and I'm so desperate to get into IT so a+ it is. Good luck!
@@kennethj8236 going straight into sec+ would be really difficult I think. These certs build off each other so going in order would probably be the best
What resources have you used for Net+ so far?
I am actually Net+ certified now. I used the Jason Dion and Professor Messer video courses. I will make a vid about it soon!
How long do I have to take this till they change over to the new series?
The CompTIA website still says TBD. There is a 6 month period where you can still take the previous version after the new one is announced anyway though.
@@TimothyNeubert That’s good news
New A+ will come out in April 2022. Which means 1001 and 1002 will retire in August 2022!
@@pelosuelto70 Would you wait or take this one?
@@saintsfan0499 you should just go for it. There will not be much study material released for a while because it will be so new.
Damn I’m 34 and it took me 5 months doing independent studying
I’m taking the udemy exams currently.. are they pretty accurate compared to the real test?
Jason Dion's practice exams are the closest you will get to the real exam IMO
Second
Stressing a lot since first time studying ever after school. did watch videos and finished a practice lab off local college for this but I still do feel stupid. hopefully just overthinking and with all the success stories maybe ill be also fine. now just waiting so I can sort out the booking at a exam venue and maybe if complete my self confidence will improve. Friends helping pay for exam fees etc since I never had the money life was rough. stumbled on this and others say first time passed so maybe I am worried for nothing. Also a month passed but maybe like a week or two needed apparently to sort booking so hope I am fine. Apologize for this long message on your channel can delete if you want just felt like typing sorry.
No worries, u got it. I was also a bit stressed before the exam but the happiness you feel after passing a cert exam is real. Just make sure you are doing well on the practice exams and you should be fine. I think dion also has a course for pbq’s on udemy that you should check out. Lmk when u pass😉
If you had to pick one to pass which one would you pick
What do you mean exactly? In terms of which is easier, I think it’s core 1
@@TimothyNeubert I meant courses
