Nope. Far more menacing in Rouge 1.
He talks way too much that it started getting annoying
@@Infernal460 no lol had like one spot ahhahahahaha
@@VNexoV That's abit of a nitpick isn't it? like aren't we supposed to want to hear him?
@@VNexoV I didnt find it annoying but I found it weird. I know the credits say James Earl Jones but I'm pretty sure it was old files or the ai they used for Luke. It sounds like Vader but not like a performer. Don't slam me but I would've preferred the guy from Jedi Fallen Order if the alternative was fake James earl Jones
Fans: Wait why did Vader let him go?
Vader: This is where the fun begins
yh a lot of ppl don't seem to realise vader was toying with him the entire time. It was obvious vader was visually disappointed at how weak obi wan was. And you can just tell by the way he looks when he lets them get away that's it's on purpose. Can't believe other ppl didn't notice this, was obvious to me.
@@chalk1415 people just want big climatic epic things, donât often care for the subtle stuff unfortunately
@@chalk1415 exactly! They weren't filming Vader so close in front of the fire for no reason... I also remember Deborah saying that Vader is still conflicted at this point. Perhaps, when he saw Obi-Wan being carried away by a droid as he himself was once by Palpatine on Mustafar... maybe that was a glimpse of Anakin in him? Just for a moment?
Episode 4 too consider as well. Or it fully breaks the timeline.
@Latest Obsession Then take him prisoner and torture him.
Vader walking through the town killing the townspeople was amazing. Never expected Disney to do something like that. And the trooper that got sliced in half. Disney is definitely learning or at least, appears to be.

One of the only things Disney did right with star wars was make any scene with darth vader pretty much turn into horror
I really hope Vader is indeed "letting him go".
I mean, they didn't escape. It was a little fire, he could have blown it away, walk through, or around it. And Obi-wan was being carried by the slowest droid I've ever seen.
I really hope he's got an evil plan. And not just bad writing.

The fact that they even fought before a New Hope is already bad writing

Ugh, who else would it be? It's just a member berries moment.
Some people are complaining about Vader not plowing through Obi-Wan like butter but that's not the point. He knows Obi-Wan is not what he once was during the Clone Wars while he on the other hand has been growing his darkside powers for 10 years via mass murdering bystanders and killing Jedi survivors. Plunging a lightsaber through Obi-Wan's chest at this stage would have been mercy kill. He blames Obi-Wan for all the sufferings that he has had to endure and he wants to give Obi-Wan a slow and painful death just like what he had to suffer after their last duel on Mustafar. He is completely different from that prequels pre-suit Vader who was brash and reckless.
I just want to praise you for having a brain.
Starting to wonder how well some people really know these characters.
You didn't miss đŻ
Whilst all of that is correct. It doesn't excuse the poor setting, dialogue, coreography and character moments.
@@mr_monologue2680 the show had a great setting, good dialogue, strong choreography, and amazing character moments, stop hating for no reason
@@Ewokpilot65 A quary in Wales that looks like a quary in Wales is a poor setting for a fantasy space show. Vader overswung on almost every strike and Obi Wan had barely any guard positions. For a Jedi master he looked like he had never even held a lightsaber. As a fencer for my entire life, you don't just forget how to hold your weapon. Especially after a lifetime of training. The cinematography during the fight was poor, constant cutting and poor framing/lighting for the two. There was barely any dialogue between the two. After 10 years you'd think that there'd be something that Obi Wan would want to say...
Please tell me where I am "hating" for no reason? Just because I dislike something it doesn't mean i'm on some sort of band wagon or "hating" for no reason. I actually liked the episode until the last 3rd.
I might be wrong but I'm guessing that the fire might be one of things that helps accelerate the appearance of Obi-Wan's aging. It might allow for the slightly thinner hair and lower mobility portrayed by Alec McGuinness. Though I imagine he will still be able to adjust to it relatively well.

It's good to finally get a sense for what the Tuskan and Jedi massacres were really like
It was amazing seeing how dark and merciless Vader was, walking through that town or whatever killing people as if it were a usual day for him, which it is, truly shows how cold hearted of a villain he is. Disney sure didnât do bad with him.
Video ends. I get an ad for Kenobi. There are no accidents
There is only a force
The last 2 episodes have been great, but this was amazing.
Also to anyone upset that Vader didnât try to kill Obi Wan and let him go: Vader has thought about that fight on mustafar for 10 years, imagining every way he could beat his former master. When the opportunity finally presents itself, and he is finally face to face with Obi Wan, all he wants is to prove how strong he was become with the dark side, but Obi Wan is weak and depressed. He barely remembers how to wield a lightsaber, Vader is besting him with one hand behind his back, pushing Obi Wan to the ground through a few clashes of their blades. This isnât how he imagined it. He wants to kill Obi Wan in his prime, he wants to win that battle on mustafar. So instead of taking this easy victory over an old, lost Kenobi, he reminds Obi Wan of what he endured at his hands last time they met, he ignites the flames, rakes him through the burning coals, using the force to push the flames out of the way to assure his prey isnât fatally wounded, and with that pain endured, he letâs him get away, knowing he will ready himself for another battle. A fair fight where Darth Vader will strike down his former master, proving once and for all he is no longer filled with the weakness of Anakin Skywalker.
i also think some critics who find the fight scene "boring" dont realise that this isnt mustafar from 10 years ago. How they think, they could fight like that boggles my mind.
@@Tob8583 yeh exactly, mustafar was both of their Jedi primes, fighting nearly every day in battle after battle, and otherwise training non-stop. Vaderâs fighting style has completely changed since the suit and he wasnât even trying to kill him, and Obi Wan barely remembers how to hold his saber, for anyone to expect a duel like mustafar is beyond me.

Talk about Irony, if heâd of killed obi and not let him escape, obi wouldnât of been able to look after luke and start his training so there would be no hope for the Jedi and the sith would rule

This is the same person youâre talking about who killed those younglings.

Seeing Vader in that town have me chills. His walk? Breathtaking and my God is he a heavy presence or what?! This episode confirms my opinion that I've had for decades... Lord Vader is the scariest villain ever written for the big screen, the BEST villain in cinema and will NEVER be beaten. Felt actual fear for the civilians in this episode (empath here) and it. Was. AWESOME!
At the beginning, Vader was catious. He knows what he is capable of and I think Vader is afraid of him. He tried to lure him out by killing innocents. But quickly realized something, it wasn't a duel, Obi Wan wasn't in his true form, he was even stranger to his lightsaber. Vader tortured him in the same way he suffered, but quickly he changed his mind, but generally he was dissapointed and had to let him go.
Yes, my thoughts exactly. Well except dissappointed and let him go part. He's just fucking with him at this point. I mean he blames Obi-Wan for Padmé's death and his injuries. He wants to crack him open like a fucking egg and he's taking his time lmao
Lol Vader isnât afraid, Vader knows he himself has grown powerful. This was just a test for keobi
@@yasirozer4782 No, he's not playing with him. It was too easy this time, not like he remembered. Vader sees himself as the ultimate Sith Lord, even above Sidious. Yet, Obi-Wan in his prime defeated him, scarred his soul, traumatized him, this is something Vader has to overcome by defeating ObiWan in a same kind of ultimate duel. What he saw there was just a former shadow of his old friend/master, he didn't want to fight against an unworthy ObiWan Kenobi, that's why he was dissapointed of the fight.

Isnât it crazy how the last time obi-wan saw Anakin and flight him it was on a mining colony and the first time seeing him again and fighting him is on another mining colony?
Some of the best Star Wars content ever. I had such a huge dumb smile on my face the whole time
I genuinely donât think vader wants to kill obi-wan, I think he just wants him in a room in his castle where he just tortures him for as long as his body can last.
It feels more like he was disappointed that he lost to him and only wants him to be who he was so he can finally tear him down i like it
Then why did Vader let him go?
I hope we get to see Haydens face in the suit. Kinda like it being battle damaged.
We just might. That would be dramatic as Obi Wan would finally see his former padawan's eyes for the first time in ages and it will hit him hard.
God this show blows!
Of course they were going to bring back James Earl Jones to voice Darth Vader, they needed him just as badly as they needed Hayden Christensen to physically portray the villain
they didn't need Hayden as much as James earl Jones. You cant see Hayden since he is in the suit

Vader is toying with Obi-Wan. Now that he knows he is somewhere alive out there in the galaxy he wants to prolong the enjoyment of Obi-Wans suffering so he let him get away. I bet he was kinda sad that Obi was so weak compared to a decade ago.
@Latest Obsession people are upset because it feels super contrived for vader to let him go. if they want him to get away there they should find a more believable way for it to happen or have it explained directly or indirectly that what you said is the actual reason he let him go.
One thing you can count on, Anakin/Darth Vader will always do the most dramatic thing he possibly can at any given moment. For those of you whoâve seen the episode, you know exactly what Iâm talking about.
He didn't kill Ashoka straight away either. Perhaps he sees obi wan as an opportunity to find even more jedi
I think he wanted to capture him and cause him the exact pain he suffered on mustafar but prolonged. Vader is def toying with Obi Wan.
He probably wanted to torture him

@@jeremyhu8418 did you not see it? Don't you remember the part where he turns off his lightsaber and says "we need not be adversaries. â@@nateriver1884 Bruh ofc he knows Obi-wan won't comply, and all Vader wants to do is find Obi-wan, other Jedi he just uses to get to Obiwan. This show makes zero sense, shouldn't have been made, and has already broken the timeline. I hope they make it non-cannon
I never found Darth Vader all that scary as a kid watching the original trilogy, but after Rogue One and now Kenobi, Vader actually feels like a threat you should run and hide from, like he always should have been.
I have seen every movie/show, played every game read almost all the comics so I do consider myself a die hard Star Wars fan. And personally I feel like the writing has been phenomenal so far, well for the most part, the chase scene with lea could have been shortend to putting a bag over her head for example, and the 'death' of the Grand Inquistitor was a cheap way for them to put the spotlight on Reva. But apart from that amazing so far.
Let me elaborate,
Vader has spent an entire decade analysing the battle he lost, looking at everything he did wrong, looking at how Kenobi thought to the very last detail. He even built his castle right next to it to remind himself every day of not only his lost battle, but also the loss of Padme (If you recall palaptine told vader that he killed her), To fuel his rage and to never make the same mistakes again. He has been searching for Kenobi for an entire decade, preparing himself for another battle with his former master which he believes is still the skilled jedi master he used to be. He wanted a real rematch to show Kenobi he was actually stronger than him, and when Reva (if you payed attention) blamed the "death" of the grand inquisitor on Kenobi he finally thought he would have that chance, instead he ended up finding an old man, who had cut himself of from the force for 10 years struggling to even hold a lightsaber. Vader could have easily walked through the fire If he wished (his suit woulnd't even get damaged a bit and his cape is fire proof), blow it out or even just grab kenobi with the Force to drag him through the fire back into his hands. Vader didn't want to kill and old man, he wanted to absolutely destroy His former Master, he has't waited and searched for 10 years just to find an old man. I love the fact they actually respect the character and don't make him appear as just this oh now I'm evil guy.
As I said the show is not a 10/10, but at least for me an incredibly big star wars fan the writing so far has been very good for the most part,
Some parts people seem to dislike just because they missed parts, for example, Reva catched up to Lea because if you would have payed attention she didn't go into the tunnel they went into, she went directly to the location she thought it would endup in.
And one last thing, the famous phrase "Once I was but the learner now I am the master" does not need to refer to the battle on mustafar, In fact it never did, George Lucas had written a large part of the story before making episode 4,5,6 (originals), infact it refers to a fight kenobi and vader had a couple years prior to A new hope, where Kenobi bested Vader, not by force but by brain, he outsmarted him.
But if you disliked the series that's cool with me everyone there own opinions after all, but at least for me a very big star wars fan it still all makes sense (well at least if they don't declare the Grand Inquisitor actually dead, then we will have a problem, but otherwise đ) and is very enjoyable.

*Personal Insight and Spoilers ahead*
At first, it felt a little slow with Obi and Leia on the road but I'm kinda cool with that. It's nice to have moments that don't go at a breaknail pace and instead have character moments like learning about Obi-Wan's past, family and how he ran into the Jedi along with some tense moments like those Stormtroopers on the back of that truck. And man, that outpost scene where that Stormtrooper gets cut in half; first that woman's hand in Episode One, now this Stormtrooper and then Darth Vader is snapping necks in an instant. This series is so brutal so far and I love it.
As for Darth Vader; just WOW!!! That opening sequence showing his suiting up and having Obi-Wan's terrified reactions in tandem were amazing. I always thought Anakin had one arm left but I'm guessing it had to be amputated after the incident. I love how modern age Darth Vader is pretty much a Horror icon, he just exudes terror and he's only been on screen for about 10 minutes of screentime thus far. I'm really hoping that during their next duel or the final duel, Vader will remove his mask using his rage to breathe saying something like; "Look upon your works, Obi-Wan."
Leia is adorable as ever, her and Ewan work so well together. And I certainly wasn't expecting Suzie from Torchwood (2008) appearing in this series; hopefully she won't blow her brains out like she did in Torchwood this time round. đ€Ł
Bring on Episode 4; I'm already ready.âșïžđ

Also
âI am what you made meâ is now my favorite Vader quote
Vader took it easy on him. It was a game of cat and mouse. It wouldâve been too easy to kill him. He needed to make him feel some of his pain first. He definitely let him escape. I hear thereâll be another duel later.
I like that the series starts out with "Ben" who is weak out of shape and pretty much just a regular man, and i can only think that he will relearn thejedi ways and transform into obi-wan and we will have a final face off with vader in ep 6
Vader:Obi Wan, it's time for a-
Kenobi: *runs away*
Vader: ...i hate you.
The little fan girl reaction "It's Hayden!"
You know, the fact that he let him go is tecnically a parallel of mustafar: Anakin got burned and Obi-wan didn't kill him. If he didn't had all his limbs in A New Hope, he would totally at least cut Obi-wan's arm to make it more even!
Vader is so terrifying in Kenobi.
To me definitely not talked way too fucking much and stopped obi wans pain instead of leaving him burnt which would make sense and he also walked way too slow and not even trying to chase him its just dumb and stupid and the lightsaber fight was terrible only thing I liked was how Vader's voice sounded even more scarier still I'm not blaming the actor they did great just the writers ehh don't even know how star wars work.
I really hope we get to see Hayden more. And even hear him maybe in some kind of flashback or vision scene
The music in this episode was so good
I honestly am confused about how the black chick teleported through a one-way tunnel unless she knew where the meetup point was. I don't know; I think the show should ignore her and do away with making things easy for her.
"I'm no stranger to lost lab rats. To catch one, you don't follow it through the maze. You force it to the surface" Dr Adam Soong Chateaux Picard circa 2024
First of all, donât call her black chick. She has a name.
Second, she has clearly shown that she has an intuitive sense for sniffing out hiding places. She bee lines to the hideout and once discovered the tunnel, I have no problem understanding that she could force sense where it would lead from the surface.
Either that or she called up some blue prints of the sewer system from the townâs archive.
Either works.
@@gamingnscience This guy is most definitely one of the people who was verbally attacking her on her Instagram
@@gamingnscience Problem with that is you are assuming. It is the writers and directors job to show that because when they donât, this is what people think. She read the script and got foresight in what was happening, your excusing bad writing and it shouldnât be excused.

Hearing James earl jones caused an unhealthy freak out!
Not only did he beat him like a child trying to hold a lightsaber(fu Traya), he casually dropped that flammable rock, Force choked him and dragged over the burning sand as he hates it more than anything else. Oh and the burn 'I am what you made me' had to have been equal if not more in emotional damage.
I swear to you and this is really not a joke at the end I was scared almost to death and was paralyzed for a minute
Same. This show is true horror. Itâs so sad to think that Obi Wan is basically defenseless.
You kidding me..? Yo uwas scared of what? Everything was cheap like a CW show
@@lecyber-purgatoire9803 first of all, Clone Wars is awesome and absolutely brutal, you just can't know that if you haven't zu nuts to watch the series yet. Secondly, you've actually watched the episode? It was just brutal
Youngling slaying returns!
Obi wan looked like he just didnât want to fight
I really wanted vader to stop that lazer bolt mid air like kylo ren that would have been sick
The fight happening on episode 3 makes it even better.
I hate Disney but Iâm glad they did Vader justice. The dismemberment, The bone snapping and strangulation. All things expected from a True Star Wars series.
Letâs just hope sensitive Karenâs donât ruin it for us.
Was i the only one thinking the whole time did they really kill the grand inquisitor where is he? He has to be in a bacta tank somewhere or something? They didnt just retcon rebels
The grand inquisitor is a position, not a person. This grand inquisitor is now dead, I guess the grand inquisitor we see in Rebels was appointed later.
@@adityaruplaha If that's true, it might explain the wonky head.
@@adityaruplaha I highly doubt that.
Your editing made this episode seem better than what is actually was
When I saw Vader with his helmet on for the first time, it reminded me of how he looked in Fallen Order when he first appears.
the line from ep IV when we last met i was but a learner, now i am the master was more fitting for their mustafar duel. now this episode has had no concern for that line and they've kinda ruined that line now by making them meet in this series
The show isnât over yet. What makes you think this is the last time they meet before the Death Star?
Clearly they will have another duel by the final episode with Obi Wan at the top of his game and in full communion with the force teaching Vader a final lesson.
Thatâs not what Vader says. He says âWhen I *left* you I was but a learner, but now I am the master.â He isnât talking about the last time they met, heâs talking about when he turned to the Dark Side.
Which is more disturbing, Vaderâs actions or seeing some fans have such joyous reactions to them?
both
Itâs not that we enjoy him killing innocent people. Itâs the fact that they actually show the reality of Darth Vader being so evil and cruel. Now imagine real life, itâs much much worse.
Yup, sums up my reaction to this episode pretty well. Episode 4 can't come soon enough.
This episode gave me constant goosebumps
We NEED a Vader film now!
Donât get me wrong I liked it but so much of it made no sense.
1) Three episodes and Ewan's Obi-Wan portrayal is still flawless as it was in prequels. His golden days are over, he is rusty, he is afraid, depressed, confused and broken. As a huge Obi-Wan fan, I have no issues seeing him trying to get away from almost all situations without engaging a fight. If this series were taken place in an era like 1-2 years after Revenge of the Sith I would have thought way differently. I would expect Obi-Wan to shine in both combat and in general activities, show us his humor, make us excited and so on. But 10 years without using the Force and his lightsaber must have taken its toll and this is being shown to us in a right way. This is what I was expecting to watch and I was ready to see a broken Obi-Wan, as much as I hate to see him like this.
2) Vader's entrance was amazing. Unlike Rogue One, this time we have actually seen Anakin in the bacta tank. Watching his transformation from Anakin to Vader made me remember Episode 3's famous scenes. I believe James Earl Jones did the voice acting again, so I have nothing to say about this - spectacular as ever. Throughout the episode, I felt Vader's rage and anger. His dialogues were short but to the point. He had no time for bullshits. The way he dragged people around and killed those innocent people were scary, almost to the point where I felt like I was watching a horror movie. But..
3) The moment that the looong awaited Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel started, I couldn't actually feel Vader's anger and rage. Vader was waiting for this moment for 10 years. He should have been so much more angry that we should have seen him coming at Obi-Wan as an unstoppable train or something. At first I thought that he was toying with Obi-Wan, but no: the issue was bad chareography but more importantly: bad writing. I think we were all expecting to see Obi-Wan struggle, we even saw a few scenes where he was trying to defend himself while laying on the ground. Hard to watch, but that's how it had to be showed. But the chareography was just so plain and normal. Ewan and Hayden are both incredibly talented actors in terms of sword play. Canon wise, I can understand to watch a slower paced duel due to Vader's armor and Obi-Wan's broken status, but they could just make this fight way more interesting and exciting.
4) This episode sadly had too man illogical scenes. Tunnel scenes - how did Reva avoid contacting the woman who saved Obi and Leia if the tunnel had only one entrance and one exit? Even if they somehow entered and exitted the tunnel in different times, how can Reva go so fast that she passed Leia, killed the pilot and still had time to wait for Leia? In Vader and Obi-Wan's duel, how can Vader let Obi-Wan escape this easily? If his effortless Force Push can extinguish all the fire why didn't he use it again? Vader could have Force Pushed the fire, drag Obi-Wan back to him, destroy the droid with the Force, jump over the fire or walk around the fire and so on... Even inaccurate stormtroopers could just shoot down the droid from there. I mean come on...
5) Leia's small actress is doing a phenomenal job IMO. She is like a little Carrie Fisher who was born to play this role. Her reactions, all knowing, rebellious side is amazing to watch. Reva was also better than the first two episodes in terms of acting (Sorry to hear about the racism issues towards Moses Ingram and sending my support to her)
6) We have to see one more Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel in this series. I believe that in Part 4 or Part 5 Obi-Wan will finally be able to communicate with Qui-Gon Jinn. From Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan will understand that there is no point in hiding or retreat anymore: he has to resist and fight. Qui-Gon may even say that Anakin is a lost cause now and he should not blame himself for all these things that happened. After all, Obi-Wan did everything he can to preserve the Republic and the Jedi Order. From this conversation, Obi-Wan will finally find the spark to rise and confront Vader without being afraid. I kinda get the vibe that Reva will somehow turn to the light and assist Obi-Wan in his duel against Vader, but I hope that won't happen. We need another, properly chareographed, well written Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel.
Also, it was really nice to hear Quinlan's name being mentioned in the episode. Jedi Order's insignia and learning about Obi-Wan's childhood memories were also nice and touching.
Hearing obi wan has a brother blew my mind and also seeing Voss be mentioned in the live action was awesome
Am I the only one who finds this show a bit awkward?
I find the cinematography very cliche and lame. The way they show darth vader didnt really give me any impact and felt boring. Me too, i also find this show a bit awkward
