@Ron Simons To be fair ... plenty of young Americans living in cities also work very hard ... but unlike farm owners, those workers get paid terrible wages. Maybe that's why they don't smile as much. Because, mostly thanks to Republican policies, proudly supported by "country folk", the minimum wage in America is disgracefully low .

@@three_elephants Ahh yes ... the great hypocrisy of American "Christianity" .. places like Nebraska where many attend church on a weekly basis, then vote Republican/Trump who vow to send back refugees from violence in Central America; deny basic healthcare for the poorest in society in favor of a brutal "for profit" healthcare model; and loudly support racist police forces despite repeated killings of unarmed black civilians. The American "Christian" basically ignore the teaching of Jesus ... in fact the only thing they seem to care about with respect to religion is opposing abortion ... and that's one thing Jesus never actually preached against (it is only even mentioned in the Old Testament). America ... so many churches ... so few true Christians.

Tagging and inoculating the cows and checking for pregnancy brings back memories of farm life when I was much younger. That including helping in the "castrating" of the whole crop of piglets. Also, in the middle of a Montana snowstorm, pulling a calf when it's mother was having difficulty delivering. Definitely an education and seeing the healthy calf stand and start to nurse after it's successful arrival. That and other adventures from Western Kansas, Southeast Kansas farms, haying in the high Rockies in Colorado and adventures farm communities in Montana are all such good memories. Besides sparking such enjoyable memories, your channel really demystifies farming for the millions of people who have no idea that their food doesn't just magically show up at their grocery store. Fantastic video Laura.

      Hi,
Regarding the Dremel tool, always push the bit or burr as far as possible in to the chuck.
This will minimize vibrations, give better control and minimize breaking the burr and excessive jerking and loss of control. A broken rotary bit or burr can instantly fly in any direction any can severely damage an eyeball. I strongly recommend eye protection when using Dremels, die grinders.
      Take care and good luck.

I remember my dad asking for help one year from my cousins husband. This guy showed up with a quad runner and a shock gun. My dad just about went through the roof over that. Him and the guy has some choice words to each other but eventually the guy left. Once a year we took the entire heard of cows about 5 miles to an irriagated quarter we had bye town. Dad go in olld farmall with a bucker of corne in the busket,he drover very slow and every cow folloed him to the quarter the only thing us kids had to do was make sure all the gates along the route were closed.

No matter how harsh or rude they get, please understand they just don't get it. They simply don't know where their food, vegetarian/vegan or not, comes from.

Recently discovered your channel and love it. I come from a family of farmers.
Screw the disclaimers and trigger warnings! This is a Farming channel. And people don’t know what they’re going to get then that’s because they’re living in denial about where their food comes from. People in this country need to wake up and start living in reality.
I love vegans and vegetarians to talk about how they do it because it’s healthy. I’ve met tons of unhealthy fat vegans and vegetarians because they stuff themselves with foods full of chemicals and sugar!
You’re a bad ass girl! Keep up the great work!
PS: when I was a kid and didn’t want to cut the grass or do something around the yard or the garden that my parents wanted my mother would start telling me about when she was a little girl back in the 1950s picking cotton & tobacco!
Which reminds me, I’ll learned how to drive as a little boy sitting in my grandfather‘s lap on a John Deere tractor back in the 1970s! I remember going to the co-op in town with my grandfather to dump corn seed. If he wasn’t in a hurry we would go eat ice cream or he would take me to lunch, which as a little kid that was always amazing.

Yo...Laura....some of us are squeamish city folk. Needles don’t bother us. A rectal exam of a cow is a whole ‘nother story. I was more in need of a disclaimer for that than the need

Wow. Your first hands-on pregnancy test! Cows are phenomenal beasts. Milk is the most versatile "crop" you can make. This was a chock-full video, and much appreciated. In 20 years of food industry work, I only got to spend an hour with cows. You have added a lot!

Now I understand, I always wondered how the land got it’s ‘nutrients’ back after being harvested, but that’s of course where the cows are (also) for ;-) good to see, Love this vid.
