11:58 I find it neat that the author made that the way to kill the Kraken. In real life fishermen can just chop between a squid's eyes, killing it instantly and turning it white.
Fun fact: Laios brought Chilchuk with him because half foots have sharper senses. He brought Chilchuk like a canary in a mine lol.
He did that because he heard that sailing ships employ half foots for the same reason.
The singing voice of the Mermaid was done by the VA of Falin.
12:05 Squid and Octopi have control over the color of their bodies. They have clusters of colored cells that they can expand and contract to not only change color but, in some of them even have pulsing patterns. When they die, they lose control and go white. They also turn white when they are afraid, I believe.
iirc thats also how chameleons change color, yes? they flex and the contraction of their cells shifts to reflect different wavelengths of the color spectrum or something
That idea to cast water walk on the kraken to keep it afloat was genius!
On the rewatch, I feel like this was a big turning point where the show went from fun and highly entertaining to truly great with so much depth and complexity in emotions and world building. It gets better every episode.

I hate that this show will be wrapping up soon - I love these characters so much.
Let’s just hope trigger sees how popular the show is and goes for another season. It’s been blowing up as big as Apothecary Diaries after all. I’ve been recommending it to as many ppl as I can, so I hope its success means we will get the continuation and ending.
That said, I’m going to read the manga once anime stops airing so by the time we do get the 2nd season, I’ll be even more excited for the ending
@@ma.2089 the director of the show has been wanting to make this anime adaptation since he first read the manga. He 100% is going to finish it purely for selfish reasons lol. He was a huge fan the manga and made a promo reel for the adaptation in hopes he would get it. Then was surprised to find Trigger and Kadokawa told him he got it.

With the extra hope of pointing Kabru and co toward Laios and co and get them to attack each other over the misunderstanding of the treasure bugs
The parasite looks like ”Unagi” in Japanese, its kind of Eel and very delicious.
Specifically, it's eel done kabayaki style, split open and marinated in a soy-based sauce before being grilled on sets of skewers.
