@@helgar791 Craiglist does FREE STUFF but in Brooklyn today, there's not stick of free Audio. Well how about that? How about the Bronx where You Tuber Batel Skater claims to own a BIG House? No, nothing. Thing is uh ... travel time is always a problem in US cities. Well, what sort of junk comes cheap in old Audio? Nothing. Junk sells for as much as bargains. One amplifier that really was junk is the British Arcam Alpha. It was pure junk. It even had chokes instead of air gap coils on the speaker outputs. But it sounded okay with the Compact Disc input. Vinyl records had a loud hum, wow but some of Steve's followers reckon British made stuff today is great!

And here we have a speaker design that is a serious throwback to the concepts used nearly 100 years ago by Western Electric and others. A horn producing the majority of the musical content and becoming more like a point source system and a modern upgraded low frequency cabinet design very similar to a folded bass cabinet, also from long ago. I love when technology comes full circle. Thanks Steve.

True but it requires modern tech to make it work. The one problem horns have is major time arrival issues between horns. The lower the frequency range the horn covers the longer it is. Line up the horn mouths and at the crossover frequency, it a time arrival mess. The dsp delays the signals from driver to driver to bring the signal back in time. For those that like digital that is fine. But the original reason for horns was the lack of power in amplifiers so efficiency was king. That's not an issue now. Now the reason for horns is their dynamics due to the efficient transfer of energy from the driver to the air. The dsp was long over due. Hopefully it is a high enough sampling frequency to sound natural, not digital.
@@jked7463 Ich have those K402 together with a horn loaded LF bin, it is nowadays called the Underground Jubilee. It is the unofficial predecessor of the Heritage Jubilee and five or six hands full of people meanwhile own one. That bass horn was the last work of Paul W. Klipsch and was exhibited at the CES in about 2001. I've been using a Yamaha SP2060 DSP with it since I bought my one in 2008 and it still sounds great today. You can assume that very modern DSPs are even better, but I'm still very satisfied. The new bass, a combination of horn and bass reflex is a design by Roy Delgado. He also designed the K402 treble horn, which is also in my speaker. But it has been slightly renewed for the new Heritage Jubilee and has a patented phase plug.
@@thomasschafer7268 This is a somewhat naïve calculation that you are making far too simply and it in no way does justice to the craftsmanship involved in building or the cost of the many years of development work. Besides, there are speakers today that don't cost 36K but 360K and don't even have an elaborate bass horn. I would rather ask myself why they are so expensive. In my opinion, Klipsch still has fair and decent prices now as then.
I just auditioned these at the Northern California Herritage dealer in Sacramento. After listening. All I can say is Wow! I was shocked. Steves description is right on. I sat there for a couple hours. Glad they didnt kick me out. These are amazing sounding!! Low Volume, turned up. Smaller room, what ever. The Active crossover is tunable to your ears. The best Klipsch has to offer. Check em out for yourself!
Now Steve knows why I pursue large horn systems. They can work well in small spaces they can play wonderfully at all levels and they always sound at ease never forced.
Steve, again I love your enthusiasm. Yes LZ II is awesome. I'm enjoying my first full week of my new Cornwall IVs of "quiet" listening. I've own great audiophile speakers in my 40 years of audiophile addiction, however nothing tops these Klipsch's. I sure wish I could hear the Jubilees.

Hi Steve, Its good to hear your enthusiasm for the sonic characterics that you observed in the Klipsch Jubillee speakers.
As an older DIY speaker builder who has only recently returned to that hobby, I share your regard for the magical effect of properly coupling sound in/with air. This doesn't require a speaker to be as large or as expensive as the Klipsch model you reviewed. Smaller models like the Cornwall you mentioned could be very close if the midrange horn were larger for greater
dispersion of that critical frequency range. Nobody seems to notice that the direction of a horn is a key to how listenable it is. Most of the reed instruments have the bell of the horn facing up or down. Trumpet mutes are used to prevent beaming. Why are the mouths of midrange horns ( squawkers) pointed toward the listener? Since they are coupled to the air, you are hearing a
re-broadcast of the sound that was sampled by the microphone during recording into your listening room. Vastly different from listening a point source driver re-radiating the sample. I wouldn't be divulging anything that might be deemed proprietary here if my sentiments weren't toward fellow DIY speaker builders.Over the past year I have built several prototypes of three way
speakers which use Open baffle woofers, specially designed midrange horns, and horn tweeters. The ability of these speakers to recreate live sound ( no limited sweet spot) is the same kind of uncanny that you described in your review. Better sound will soon be at the doorstep of a larger group of listeners, and at a price they can afford. That old horn technology that Klipsch kept alive and expanded upon, still has a lot to offer. Some of us learned it from Dr. Bruce Edgar and reviewers like you who have been proponents of horns for many years. Thank you!

Steve, that was a great video. It's always good to see when enthusiasm is genuine and authentic. I have the so-called "Underground Jubilee" since 2008. Just some handful of guys own such a speaker and my one is probably the only one in Germany. The treble K402 horn is the same as with the HJ, the latest version for the Heritage Jubilee is slightly revised and it has, what is a milestone, a second phase plug that is tuned to the driver and the horn. This way, even the highest tones come into the room with the right dispersion. The bass of the UJ was the last design of Paul W Klipsch with the intention to develop a two-way horn, which he did very well. He presented it in I think 2001 at CES himself in his late age. It is a full horn up to about 35 or 40 Hz. The new bass horn of the HJ is a composition of full horn and bass reflex and it's extremely smart thought out. It was developed long time and maturely by Roy Delgado. He also developed the K402, and I firmly believe that he can be very proud of ithis speaker combination. However, as I have come to know Roy in Hope in 2009, he is never proud but rather humble and always in grateful memory of Paul W Klipsch for the exciting decades they had worked together.

The Jubilee is a beast! - Thanks for highlighting it in this video.
I own the Cornwall 2's (Bought in 1982) and have had them modified to the point where a, side by side, blind test with my friends pair of Klipschorns was almost impossible to distinguish which were playing. The horns have been slightly damped to halfway up the bells to rid them of the harshness at prolonged high volume listening, and all the wiring has been stripped out and replaced with Swedish Mil spec copper. The terminals and connectors have been eliminated and everything has been hard wired with silver solder directly to the terminals, crossovers and speakers themselves. Human fingers took all the ensuing heat transfer to stop damage to the speakers and caps. (The guy who did this has no feeling in his fingers anymore and has obliterated his fingerprints). What a difference! Everyone who hears them swears that they are the sweetest sounding speakers that they have heard at both prolonged high volume and also at soft volume. I love Klipsch and would love to hear the Jubilees. Just thought that I would share this unusual little story with you all.

Steve, great review. A note about Herb. About a decade ago I read about a guy, no name given, who was going through the garbage, salvaging Western Electric Horn/Tube systems from movie theaters and selling the gear to the Japanese. The Japanese understood that simple, low power, Tube circuits with ultra-efficient Horns were simply capable of presenting a different, yet extremely satisfying musical experience. While in America the marketing departments did their job and snowed Us consumers that solid state, with lots of global negative feedback, high powered amplification, coupled with much smaller vented or acoustic suspension designs, were the way to go. Several years later, after reading the article, I realized this guy who sold the gear to the Japanese, for safe keeping, allowed Us to finally realize that Vacuum Tubes were not only extremely valid as amplification, but via the OTL could vastly outperform solid state.
Then a couple of years ago, on your Channel you featured Herb, telling how He salvaged the Western Electric Tube amplification/Horns and I immediately knew, THAT'S THE GUY!
I wish to express my profound thanks to Herb for possibly saving valve amplification for the rest of Us. I own two OTL's one Class AB and another much less power, Class A1, and am addicted to sound. Thanks Herb.

Steve. Recently, I was able to have an extensive listening session with the Jubilees at my local dealers and I was absolutely "BLOWN AWAY" by them. I've owned a great pair of what I consider to be "end-game" full range speakers for several years now, myself. I attend the Audio Shows whenever their held on the West Coast, so I get to hear (including my local dealers) all the new big-time speakers out there currently, but when I sat down in front of the Jubilees, I thought, these have to be one of the very best speaker systems on the planet!!!

I was able to experience these at a show in August. They were literally in a room the size they f a basketball court. The guy doing the demo had them turned way down. But even in that massive room and the low volume the nuance and detail were stunning. Best in show IMHO. They were powered by 5k Michi amps. No idea what the other components were. As a drummer, I could tell what kind of snare the drummer was using. Poor me, And had to “settle” for Cornwall IV. First world problems

Now I own a pair. Got 1k off as a demo discount. I probably should have pushed harder. They are now connected to high quality Cary Audio gear and the results are pretty stunning. I have the SLI-100 integrated amp and the DMS650 streamer/dac. If you live in the area, I would be happier to have you over for a listen. Soon I’ll have a dedicated room with room treatments which should make things much better. A lot of echo where they live now 😜
@@jstoli996c4s I adore mine. I heard other speakers while auditioning amps for the Cornwalls and ai couldn’t wait to get back to them. The only exception was the 25k focals.
@@victorchiappetta3230 I auditioned the Cornwalls last year when I was shopping, great sounding. I was kinda hesitant to buy them as I had the RF7i’s previously and they were notoriously bright and fatiguing. I now have the JBL HDI 3800’s. I will certainly consider the Cornwalls again in the future if I’m back on the market.
I've driven past the Klipsch Factory when in Arkansas for Fall color photoshoots and have thought about stopping in before. I have a pair of the floor-standing Klipsch's which sound good, but not likely as good as these with a good amp attached. :-) Because of you I found myself keeping my eyes open for a pair of Magnapans and came across a pair at an estate sale not long ago and I'm loving playing some different music styles through them. From Chicago to Pat Matheny, they sound great and I like the look. (They're a pair of vintage Magnapan MG I B speakers)

My local dealer (Safe and Sound), has the 75th Anniversary's on their showroom floor. The price I saw was a bit over $40K. I will be making my appointment to hear them soon, as well as the Martin Logan Neolith ($100k) which is in one of the 3 matching 'private' listening spaces.
Just bought the Forte' 4 in distressed oak with lambs wool grills from them powered by the Willsenton R8. VERY pleased, and they contrast nicely to the Martin Logan Classic 9's sitting right beside them! 😊

I had the opportunity to attend Paducah Home Theaters official Grand Opening this weekend and hear 2 sets of these Jubilees.there was a pair inside the showroom and a pair set up outside on a deck for the entertainment. The sound was incredible. The best I've heard. I own the original Jubilees which are impressive but these live up to the hype. Shout out to Cory at PHT for allowing such a rare opportunity to hear these is both settings. If you have a check check that shop out. Super knowledgeable.

A dearly departed friend had Klipsch Horns on a system that was high end for the early 70s. Dan would generally demonstrate their clarity at loud listening levels. His wife, Barb, however introduced me to the subtleties listening at quieter levels.

I really like your descriptions. I love heritage klipsch. I have 1985 Cornwalls upgraded with Bob Crites crossovers. I have a pair of 1990 Klipschorns with upgraded Crites crossovers. Klipschorns with a pair of MC30s and a current MC 7200 in preamp mode is magical.

You described their sound well. 👍I heard these in less than optimum conditions, but even still the words powerful and effortless are good ones. It’s a special speaker. When people see my Cornwall’s they invariably say that they’re bigger than they thought … Well folks the Jubes are freaking huge!

In belgium we had long time ago, a constructor : Andre Dumortier , and he made 2 way systems with vitavox s2 or s3 and klipsch type bass with electrovoice or jbl 2245 in closed box crossed at 350 hz actively with preamp bisforzando and 2 stereo amps , first with tubes, later transistor, the looks where top , imho the most beatifull design ever...and sounded wowwww.....

I remember after saving a ton of money from my first job as a teenager. I went out and purchased my first stereo system.
This was during the '70s when they were having that big receiver War. To see who can make the best and most powerful receiver. I ended up going with Pioneer I still have it it is day. That'll give you an idea of the quality that they were making back in the 70s. I remember listening to this brand of speaker not these monsters but I remember there was a pair that stood about three and a half feet tall. I noticed it had a huge horn mid-range and that's pretty much the sound that was coming out of these speakers. Mid-range, not the sound I was looking for at the time. Turntable I went with techniques 1200, speakers I went with JBL. Later on I added additional equipment and actually had custom speakers made by a friend. I was able to blow every pair of speakers that I purchased even with the clean wattage. I used to play things at a very high volume and I guess destroy the voice coils. I understand by underpowering them and driving them into clipping a lot of people blow speakers in that manner. That's not what happened to me. This Pioneer receiver was legitimately 120 watts per Channel RMS real clean wattage it has two giant analog Vu meters that display 240 Watts Peak each side. I also got a hold of a Carver amplifier that was 500 w RMS not Peak made in the USA. I see my Pioneer on the internet today, people are looking for thousands of dollars to get a hold of this unit. I believe I paid roughly $500 for it at the time brand new in the box at an authorized Pioneer dealer. American warranty not gray market.

I have never been in the same zip code a a pair of £30k+ speakers, but your video made me wonder, of all the super high end speakers you have heard, which do you think would be the easiest to drive and the most forgiving of amplification? I mean, if I win the lottery and buy a pair of these monsters, will I need another £30-40k just to drive them? Thanks again!

First time I heard Klipshorns, it was the 1812 Overture, RCA Shaded Dog, all analogue system, in 1972. . . blew me away, made me a lifetime audiophile.
Wow in 1969 in Diboll Texas at the home of Arthur (Buddy) Temple lll, I heard the same song (1812 overture, don't remember the details) on a Crown system (might be wrong here) on two of the biggest speakers I had ever seen, and they were Klipsch, one in each corner of a huge room.
It changed my life also.
I have never been able to buy those speakers I heard some 50 plus years ago, mostly because I haven't had a room empty enough and big enough at the same location and same time, but maybe...just maybe...!
In the 70s is when I put my system together. Still working to this day.
I have added to the system as things came out that I wanted. I specifically remember listening to this brand speaker. The first thing I noticed was a humongous mid-range horn and after listening I really didn't like the sound that it was producing. I found that the horn mid-range was the majority of the sound It was producing not what I was looking for at that time. Passed on the purchase of the speakers. Went with JBL's with a 15inch woofer.
I assumed this was just a scaled version of previous heritage designs so never paid much attention. Glad I watched this video though as its super cool to see OG Klipsch horn tech implemented on a level like this and I imagine that huge horn loaded driver covering so much of the range is what makes it sound so unique. The development must have been a nightmare and I'm guessing why it was delayed for so long.
Almost thought the thumbnail was two tv screens over speakers. This is even more awesome.

I heard the Jubilees at the Audio Advice show in Raleigh, NC. They are very impressive. In comparison to some of the other speakers at the show, they are a good value.

Great googley moogley & Gosh X 10 to the power of 99! Such a massive Klipsch's i never could have imagined was ever going to be made.
So with that particular lack of Klipsch' knowledge, the video's first opening shot of Steve standing in front of it made me think he must have sailed through a mysterious cloud out at sea & had become "The Incredible Shrinking Man" ...now at the 2'ft tall stage. Or that he had swapped a cow for some magic beans instead of selling it & his wife threw them out the window in disgust & he climbed the resultant beanstalk the next morning & entered a giant audiophile's lounge.
A 7" titanium dome driving the top horn ...Wow, my (recently repaired) Tannoy 15" inch D.C's have a microscopic 2 or 3 inch max' titanium (or other metal) dome in their central compression driver to do all the duty above 1'Khz. This Klipsch's compression driver & horn size looks like it could dip down to < 400'hz. No sub needed here, this could do the Wuttenberg Cathedral's 128'ft tall pipe's organ's deepest note, it really could!

I heard a pair of K-Horns back in the 90s at, what was at the time, one of the only high-end stores in Little Rock, AR. I was with my parents, it was a relatively small room, and I recall them being driven by McIntosh Amps and front end. To this day, I think it’s the most realistic and engaging system I’ve heard. I recall my mother, not so keen on listening loudly, closing her eyes and waving her hand telling the salesman to go raise the volume. High praise indeed. I would love just to get the chance to listen to the Jubilees.

Been a Klipschorns lover since 1983 I have 2 Klipschorns and a Klipsch lascalla for the center piece rocks! 3 way speakers arrangement the best!
I listened to a pair of Volti Vittoras with dual Volti subwoofers at the home of a man who sold used audio gear. I was amazed at how all encompassing they sounded and no horniness whatsoever. I have klipsch la scalas and they were eclipsed by the character of the Voltis. All that I could think afterwards was how nice it would be to listen to klipschorns or jubilees. Not because I could potentially afford them, but just to hear what next level klipsch sound like. The Volti sounded exactly as you describe the Jubilees.
Actually AudioClassics in Vestal, NY outside of Binghamton has these on display for those living in or near NYC. They’re pretty spectacular.

Well first off I'll likely pursue these bad boys if I can ever accrue enough money/fall into a pit of money. I'd love to hear them some day.
I find your comment about Led Zeppelin II and Audiophile gear interesting and that sort of thing is something that's been on my mind as I've delved deeper into the Audiophile world. I currently have a decent setup with nice Vandersteen 2ce going through an Integra Home Theater amp (next on the docket to upgrade) with an Ariston RD11s (more or less an LP12) feeding it but it's by no means as fancy as most of the setups I see on your channel. Things that should sound great do but at the same time, I can put through "poorly" recorded or lo-fi punk music and the like and have it sound like it's meant to be. I read a post by someone elsewhere on the internet about when they upgraded to really nice speakers, the punk music they used to enjoy was unbearable through the high end system and they were gravitating towards music that they didn't like but illustrated what the system was capable of. Eventually they just had to "downgrade" because they just wanted to be able to enjoy the music they wanted to. Seems very similar to your friend Mark, whom you've interviewed before, giving up chasing the Audio dragon.
I've only recently got into your channel so I've been unable to parse through the mountain of videos but if you haven't already, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this concept. There seems to be a very interesting split in the audiophile world, simply music lovers trying to get the best out of their music vs those who are all about gear and getting the highest fidelity. No judgement on wherever anyone sits, just kind of fascinating thing to me.

It’s a very special compression driver. Celestion axi2050 but Klipsch use their own phase plug.

Thanks for the review Steve I love Klipsch bought the Cornwall ll in 86 K-Horn 11 yes ago and used pair of Heresys I thought the Cornwall was best speaker till I got the K-Horn and can only imagine what the Jubilee sounds like especially seeing your review That's the way i acted when I first heard the Cornwalls at Tweeter in 86

GREAT video....finally I have heard someone say Led Z recordings were rough sounding, not audiophile. I believe those albums were made to sound good with AM radio and 8 tracks back in the day. Zepp's music is AMAZING unlike the recordings of their music. THANKS STEVE.
Well back in 1962 I was 14 years old and got to hear a set of Klipschorns driven by a McIntosh 240. I fell in love with Klipsch and now own Forte ll's...wife says the Jubilee's will have to wait! Next lifetime...

I’m a Klipsch fan. I’ve been listening to K-Horns and Klipsch Belle’s for over 30 years. They still Rock and can bring goose bumps .
Klipschorns with a Belle in the middle for 50 years this August. Some minor updating about 15 years ago, and still running strong. Surprised I'm not deaf. So are my neighbors.

I remember selling my Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater set of speakers in the min 1970s. We used them in a band for a PA - but I also used them with my stereo. My goodness they sounded good. Maybe it was just me - I’m no audiophile - so they may not have been as high quality as I recalled. Also, in spite of their massive size, they worked with surprisingly well small wattage amplifiers. I wish I had never sold them….
I heard these about 6 wks ago at Audio Classics , listened for 30-40 min through various music genre - fantastic in all aspects, my preference over bw, focal utopia, sonus, gerstmann

Yes, this speaker is amazing. It's a pity we weren't able to hear them. Yes, CZcams sound can be REALLY unimpressive, but it would have been good to at least get some impression of how they sound, maybe their sheer presence. BTW, thanks so much for spreading the word about the Heritage Jubilees. They're amazing speakers, the culmination of years of development. I hope they become as iconic among audiophiles as they've already become among dedicated Klipsch fans.

I wish we had a little sample. I'll never own a pair of these nor will I probably ever have access to a pair of these speakers. Everyone knows the limitations here but, it would have been nice to get a taste.

Yes, CZcams sound through iPad speakers gives no idea, but through premium headphone or wi-fi’d to a good stereo could give at least some impression of how the Jubilees sound.
If I could give one design recommendation, the bracket/stand holding up the rear section of the horn at the back top of the cabinet should be a higher quality piece from a design aesthetic point of view since that space is open. Otherwise a very nice addition to the Klipsch Heritage family.

That bracket is a hefty one. If you see it in person you will see it's solid and heavy.

Hi love the videos. That compression driver is by Celestion Axi2050, It has a giant annular diaphragm. You can see it at Parts Express, available to the public. I think it came out earlier than the Klipsch Jubilee.

This is state of the art in horn design. Not in 50 years has such a leap in quality taken place.
I own Jubilees and drive them with Decware SET amps in a smallish room. Remarkable sound. I also noticed how the Jubilees penetrate (nicely) into the rest of the house at listening levels. BTW, I transferred your Qobuz playlist to Spotify using "free" Soundiiz. Transfer was easy and am enjoying your playlist now. Thanks!
Are they really minus 3db at 18 hz? I call BS on that. Khorns are 10db down at 35 hz or maybe more and fall off rapidly past that.
Woops, I should have listened to the whole video. They are dsp'd. Makes sense. I guess my khorns are too sort of through my Yamaha eq.

They are not DSP. They have an external xover Network.
@@DanielPerez-rp2oz Are you saying that there is no bass boost and eq happening? I say BS. I have found that that the Khorn crossover was modified years ago to reduce the natural horn boost in the 125 hz range and I bet the dsp crossover does the same thing in this app.
