. Actually, the private apartments in the Soviet Union were in property of citizens except the right to sell them. But you was able to exchange your apartment to another apartment or even two, with additional payment if needed. And nobody had right to deprive you from your apartment by his personal will.
. So the only real goal of so named privatization was give to criminals the possibility to harass citizens and take their property by force, or buy it for cheapest price by fraud. And that really was one of the eminent achievements of democracy in post-Soviet Russia! 😈

Just a note about the apartments that were given to the citizens, right after the collapse of the communism. I am not aware of the process in Russia, but in Romania, for example, similarly, we were given the apartments we were living in. But the process was a bit more complicated than just filling out paperwork. We actually had to purchase our apartment for a fraction of price that it is today, and the banks fully cooperated with people, giving them a loan (that is because we all used to have a job, and most of us had money saved in our bank accounts).
Prior to coming to Russia, I found an article, stating that there's an initiative to sell all state owned apartments to those wishing to purchase them, and that people who rightfully lived in those places since the communism, will have priority to purchase them. So, I think it is very similar to that of Romania. Of course, those Russians who purchased/got their places this way will have the final answer.
In Russia, the transfer of apartments into private ownership was very simple. All you had to do was submit an application and almost immediately receive a certificate of the owner of the apartment. No payment was required.
I also think they are preparing for direct confrontation, for me the first sign was that Germany was heading away from Russia's resources, because the only logical explanation for me is that they knew about confrontation and that they knew they will loose these resources anyway, but with time they can prepare and diversify. Hopefully when time comes to press a button they give up or we just hope Asians build a better world.

After the collapse of the USSR, absolutely everyone received ownership of the state-owned apartments in which they lived. In Russia and Ukraine for sure, but I think that this was the case in all post-Soviet republics.

That's right! After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Government transferred ownership of all municipal apartments to citizens, and even office apartments that belonged to state organizations and enterprises as well. Due to this, many families have additional apartments after the death of their elderly parents (if they previously lived separately from adult children). Some exchanged these spare apartments for larger apartments, some sold them and bought a country house instead, and some still rents out an extra apartment and earns extra money from it. Thanks to that, I and my Husband own an appartement, the title to which was transferred to us by the Company my Husband worked for, and we have two spare flats - one from each side of our parents.
A politician should only carry the passport of the country he "serves" . A person wants to "serve" his/her country as they ALL claim then they can surrender all other passports.
In Australia if one wants to become a government official , must not hold dual citizenship must only hold an Australian citizenship.

Also when Russia starts beating war drums, there are no way for us to be neutral nor be out of the war, we have way too much strategic value for both sides. Also our neutrality ended when we joined EU, not when we joined NATO. Also we don't do business with imperialist Russia that thinks it is OK to invade other nations and annex land from them, that is direct threat to us too in case you didn't understand that much. In Bosnia and Hercegovina who was part of former Yugoslavia, all apartments that were own by states, organization or company become private apartments with very small monetary contribution or none. It depended on the contribution to the funds for building apartments and overall contribution to society by your work. Everyone was reworded ,so most people got their apartments free of charge. My husband and I got ours apartment totally free with our work contribution to the previous society.
Anytime you have rulers that are also foreign citizens you know you are screwed. It should be a criminal offense to have that in your country.
