Thanks for the info! I appreciate the videos you make. I am a new collector, and it's nice to have someone go through some of the things a greenhorn might not know.

At the beginning of Aladdin lamp chimneys, which one and how to adjust, there are several Aladdin Vases. Can you do a video of those? My wife, she is from Vancouver, and I are just learning about the Aladdin Lamps in detail. We have collected oil lamps for a while and knew of the Aladdin but just purchased our first. A Number 11. It has opened a DEEP rabbit hole. Love the vases and trying to find more information. I have several of the books you reference on the way.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of the world.

Thanks for the info! I'll check my EU supplier to see if they carry the new Borrosilicate glass chimneys. If not will wait for a visit from family to bring me one.

Hello, i just watched your video about chimney's, you mention the taller high altitude chimney you do not run because it makes noise? I am not looking for brighter burn, but was wondering if the taller chimney would cause the lamp to make a bit more heat? I like to use the lamps to take chill out of room in winter....would love to see a video of both standard and high altitude!

I do the same to warm rooms. I have an old house , old windows and zero insulation.
You might gain a little extra heat and light but not very much extra.
When you are about 4000 feet, there is less O2, you need a taller chimney to make the same light as a normal chimney at sea level. The output would be same.
I would try so to do a video to compare, but the results would so similar, it would not be obvious.
Run two lamps if you are cold.
      Cheers

Just 2 days ago my heel less chimney broke. I might have tightened the gallery a bit too much. Let‘s wait until the new one arrives for my second turn…

Thanks for the info! My wife and I are huge antiquers, so always in a new shop, Aladdin lamps and parts are always on my list... How do I know they are Aladdin chimneys? is it based on the shape and the heel? Thanks!
Also, what other brands of lamps do you recommend keeping an eye out for?

    • @Kerosenecanada
      @Kerosenecanada  Před 3 lety

Alvin Dean .yes, shape and size. They usually always say Aladdin right on them.
2 5/8 base and about 14 inches long.
      Cheers

Alvin Dean that a tough question about other brands. I like Center draft American lamps. The vast majority of flat wick lamps are not worth much unless the glass is spectacular.

All 3 of my lox-on chimneys are too small (too loose) to fit on my B burners. I can slip them on without even needing to line-up the notches. Also with my 23 burner, I must line-up the notches, but it keeps rotating around and never locks, even slightly. So in both cases, the tabs are to be bent up or down? Thanks.

Yes, you need to adjust the tabs by pressing them down.
      Cheers

@@Kerosenecanada Wow... Quick response. Thanks so much!! Wasn't sure because the tabs look horizontal and my thinking was, bending them either way would open up the diameter. Man, your collection is amazing. Makes me feel small. LOL Thx again.

Hello I was given an Aladdin lamp and the chimney broke🥴🥴 it’s the kind that you twist at the bottom. What is that type called and where can I buy one? Thank you

They are called Lox-On. Go to crown place brands. Go to Aladdin resellers.
