Hello Leon. Thankyou so much for the great comment. It's been a lovely summer this year. I've really enjoyed it. It's very very hot in Taiwan for months on end. Argh horrible. It's heavy rain now so it's cooling down. Take care.

Hiya, that Kerry's building with no windows were two huge silo's, small coasters would come up river under the bridge and moor at the wharf there to discharge the grain they brought.
The other building is where they use to produce flour and behind that building with the windows (flour mill) they also use to produce animal feeds, it still operates today but the produce may have changed a little, unfortunately no commercial shipping comes to Gainsborough any more not even to the mill by river, not even the sand and/or gravel barges come up here to the quarries further up river, such a shame and in its heyday Gainsborough was a thriving inland port.
Enjoying your wanderings and always look forward to the next, take care mate and thanks.

It is such a shame and those boats can carry much more than a lorry could. I bet it was thriving but it's got a bad reputation now. Thanks for the great info Clive.

great video , a very long trek up river , we've done that trek in my dads boat , we broke down half way down & we had to pull in on one of those banks , & from what i remember , there was a caravan park up above , & some guy from there helped my dad out , me & hubby have been to torksey a few times , & even seen it in flood lol .

    • @NarrowboatWill

Not related to this video, I was just scanning through the BSS requirements for something else and noticed a whole section on fuel tank vents (2.3 I think). When the time comes, it might be worth checking your modification doesn’t fall foul or the rules. Personally I think what you have done with yours is brilliant btw. Keep up the good work.

Don't worry about the scenery being boring, to an old homesick pom like me, it is all interesting. That food factory, (those two words should never be in the same sentence), was a bit scary; have you seen the old Charlton Heston movie 'Soilent Green'? One complaint; no episode is complete without hearing you getting a bit of abuse from the Tillerman; perhaps you could give him something to hold now and again in those holes in his creepy little hands; maybe it'll sweeten him up a bit. Nice episode as usual; much appreciated.

Hi will I no your not on the trent now but info for others the ancor should have 6x depth for rope and chain and 4x depth for chain the stretch of river between keadby and torksey can be over 20ft in the channel as the tidal range is 1.2m to over 5m at times if the line is too short the ancor may not hold due to the scope .
