- You ever look at your bike and think, "I need a change."? That's where I was with my MT-10. I loved the bike and how it rode but I've had this thing since 2019 when it was released and while it rides amazing I just needed a change...a big change. So in today's video we are overhauling my MT10. I'm going to try DIY Spray painting, and swapping out the touring windscreen and I'm FINALLY getting some new tires on this thing. Let's see what an MT10 looks like...IN GOLD!

I would’ve lightly sanded the primer before paining your wheels. Other than that, I’m shocked by how good a job you did on your spray can paint job. Finally! Something Chase is naturally good at!!! 😋👍🏼
Thanks 👍
I would highly recommend that you hit it with some light cutting compound and polish before you put any decals back on it or expose it to too much dirt and grime. That will even out the finish, make the gold/black seem a little deeper and wet, and get rid of the dust knibs, especially the texture you can see on the tank. Seems like a small thing but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how much better it looks after you’ve done it. Bike looks great!
Looks amazing. Great job!
Simply stunning Chase....🏴
That looks pretty sweet. I painted my bike years ago white with a bit of lime green pin stripe.
Looks absolutely sick Chase!
That turned out absolutely amazing! Wasn’t sure how it would look when you said gold, but with the black, PERFECT! Well done!
You did a great job. It looks so much better now. Nice to see that you were particular about the details of prep and cleanliness. One thing though, if you ever do this again, it'd be best to get a gravity fed spray gun. You likely already have a compressor with enough cf/m to run one (with a water trap). That way you can use proper 2K automotive paint and clear. It would be far less expensive than buying all those rattle cans, plus it would be an easier job using a gun, and the finish would be finer. Those cans are hard on the finger! But yeah, the bike looks mighty fine.
Looks awesome my friend! Keep up the good work!
Oh damn! its like wrecked bike rebuilt "lite" version. I like it alot. nice work.
Very nice work!👍
Love the gold. I have a Matt black MT and I’m now considering adding some gold after this. Everyone always does red.
I think the gold paint turned out killer but the black not so well. The tank really shows a lot of orange peel. I would get some compound on it and a dual action polisher and give it a damn good cut followed by a polish then a wax or ceramic. Only thing that lets it down really.
Nice job.
OMGold. Frickin love this channel. Always something different and Fun. (Keep on chase'in on)
The black and gold look great together.
You have to get that gold chain you put on the R6M to complete the look on the bike. Good job.
Was thinking the same thing as we were finishing up
OC: black and gold is a classic combo. love the accents above the lights LOL. definite short circuit vibes. for me I am fond of blue. so probably a deep dark blue and fade into a lighter flame. maybe the Playstation blue and green lights from the PS2.
Great video. I did a set of wheels on my car. 7yrs later still bulletproof.
ICE FLOU FTW! I have to say that Black/Gold does look absolutely Sick!! 🔥🔥🔥 Congrats on the new Look!!
That's the coolest MT10 on the planet. Nice job keep up the good working videos Thanks for what you do.
It turned out pretty good, the color combination
I love all the scratches in the wheels from you guys putting the tires on in the orange chips that you can see where the gold is missing
Luv it.. just rebuilt my 05zx10r again an paintd it metalic gold turnd out so sick! Super syian for sure
Dawg YOU NEED YOUR RECOGNITION!!! Great video and awesome bike.
Beautiful!
I did a black and gold theme once and it was legit! You did an amazing job bro!
I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw the thumbnail and title, I was skeptical about this, because I generally don't like gold, but your MT-10 turned out amazing!
Also, I know this comment is way later after you posted the video, I may be a little behind. I just binge watched 3 months worth of LOTW the last couple days 😅
I would have never picked gold.....until I seen this. The MT-10 has enough breaks in the plastic and body lines to really make it pop. I think a lot of other bikes might get overwhelmed by the gold but this is just perfect.
It came out so beautiful, joke's on you! It's gorgeous!
Oh that is sick. True story.
Damn that really does look really good. You made an MT10 blockhead would be jealous of lol
Yooo that looks dope! I'd rock it 🤙🏾
That looks amazing. It looks factory.
OC: Wow, it turned out better than i imagined
That bike came out fantastic. You need a custom gold and black helmet for that bike. Great vid. Really enjoyed watching the whole process.
Steelers…black and gold! 👍🏻
OC yes its a great pick of color
Reminds me of the OG FZ1 that came in Matte black body with Golden rims in early 2000s ❤
I would love to go like lime green, or Maize and Blue (Go Michigan!), but Triumph freakin nailed the OD Green of the Tiger 900. I just can't bring myself to move from that yet.
I think that’s the same tires on my 23’ xsr900 which I love the bike and the tires haven’t had any issues.
OC: Definitely love the GOLD!! It's now a Gold Decepticon so it needs a Decepticon type name.
Looks really good for the "first" attempt at such a complicated and difficult task (no idea if you have done this before or not). Only question I have is how much did you spend on products for prep and the paint itself? Knowing the cost for something like this would be nice to know. But great job!
A first ride on that color scheme would be lit🔥
Nice job, wel done. But I would advice everyone, who does this job with rattle can's to use 2K gloss finish. You can buy these and they are automotive grade and way better then 1K. The clear finish gets as hard as OEM paint . The 2K cans are not expensive . The only thing is , that ones you mixed the hardener inside the can, they can only be used for a couple of hours. But that is no problem at all. The endresult is way better and stronger against the elements and against scratching. I see that the black paint on the tank is not really flat. With 2K clear, you could have simply wetsanded with 1500 and 2000 afterwards and polish to get a better then OEM wetlook mirror finish. With the 1K , I am not so sure. I also don't think you should have sanded the bike with 320 grid before applying colour. Sanding with 600 or even just using a scotch pad would have been better. ANyway, I really like the colourcombination
In future prep the bike somewhere where you don't intend to paint as the air pressure from the gun will blow the prep dust into your paint work.
Awesome, i have the same color scheme on my Street triple R.
But truth be told, i am kinda unhappy with my gold wheels, so much cleaning is needed. xD
Looks 10x times better than before.
Did you do a review of the ZX4RR? I have looked at everyone I could find since I bought one. I haven't seen yours yet.
top tier content and host.
I bought some duplicolor metalcast to smoke out the chrome on my VTX 1800. 🤞🏼
Missed the opportunity to add a new gold chain too! Nice result tho.
Oc, I would have done black like you did then blue instead of gold since it’s a Yamaha. It looks absolutely great and no doubt it’s Blockhead approved.
Just switched to them.. they pretty good .. they stick really good to the ground
It has like 2001 R1 vibe. Nice
Looks like time for a Black Carbon Ruroc with a gold visor!
Only thing i would change, which is more of a personal thing, is painting the part of the tire hidden under each wheel, as every time id change tires, id get annoyed at myself for not doing that. Looks good tho
Gotta admit, I was skeptical when you did the DIY spray can but dude, nice job! It did turn out pretty awesome.
Now you just need Ruroc to send you the Gold Track helm.
Gold paint looks great but the orange peel on that tank and front fender need a good sanding, polish and a clear coat.
Chase is doing what Yamaha needs to be doing…. R6M! Now the best color way for a MT10🤯
The only thing I think it needs is a buff on the tank. Otherwise, looks really, really good!
i would suggest you use spraymax 2k clear. automotive grade clear coat with hardener in a spray can, with a light buff n polish it looks professional. Edit: i am going to be brutally honest, i had really low expectations almost disappointed. it actually turned out really good but the gloss black bits have alot of orange peel. try to wet sand and buff, if not i would get those professionally sprayed.
I was very concerned looking at all the gold parts, but there is enough black parts in between that it turned out nice.
If you get a wheel balancer stand it makes wheel.painting easy!
I recently sprayed the fairing on my bike to cover up damage. Looked ok (better than it was).
Storm blew my bike over the other day, it now looks crap again. 😢
Should have used a 2k clear coat at minimum on the gas tank. I learned the hard way from gas drips. But this looks great
I’m interested in the longevity of it, but the bike looks beautiful
Although I Understand that the point was to do this yourself. I definitely would have had the wheel's powder coated End the tank professionally sprated black Cause the moment any chemicals hit either. It's going to peel it.
Speaking of gold wheels……I can’t wait for an update on the Goat. How many miles do you have on it? How is it treating you?
Merry yamahamas
2k clear would’ve been a much better option long term
U gotta get the seat with gold stitching!
Bike turned out sick!
Was the small music snip when announcing the color gold supposed to be a Blockhead reference, cause it’s pretty fitting. Lol
Im in south GA and would have swapped my 2023 black wheels with you for you neon orange...
Not the color palate I would have went for but to each their own. Nice job though!
OC I thought you would have done a red and gold Iron Man theme.
Covenant Purple from Halo wouldve looked sick
The S C on the pipe aught to be gold too.
You know Chase is a good dude when he mention dragon ball z 🐉
OC.. probably black and purple. but that mt10 looks sexy!
Some dude powder coated his rims on his MT-09 SP Gold over Chrome, looks sweet
29 minutes 20 seconds the black on the gas tank looks like an old toolbox that somebody spray-painted
great job ! now the bike looks just like from the transformers movie...
Didn’t the Bridgestone Battlax s23 just came out?
They did. This projects been in the works for a couple months so all that were available was the S22 but I love them so I'm super happy with it.
The tank is not well painted. The color comb is nice!
2 questions: with the tank being repainted, do you have to change your registration bike color? or at least notify your insurance? Also the camera doesnt really show but is it an obvious DIY paint job up close? Would a polish before the clear coat been a better idea?
It can vary area to area, so check local laws first and foremost
AFAIK, as long as you can prove it's the same bike that was colored (documenting the process), you don't *have* to change the title. I don't know the process for actually changing the title though if you choose to, I just know you don't necessarily need to do it.
If something happens to your motorcycle though, such as stolen, it'd be less of a headache explaining and proving why it's a different color, so while you don't *need* to update it, you'd probably want to.
Yeah the orange peel on the tank looks pretty bad, I would've had a professional do this
Quick question: are the gold painters tape brows still on? 😂
lol yep!
I've never been a fan of painting the barrel/tire side of the rim. Also i would have sand blasted the rims.
I hate winter, I miss my bike
If I were to do my bike I’d want the primary color to be that Toyota FDE and the secondary color to be black
i came by to laugh, but it turned out pretty nice actually - wtg
I painted my wheels and it chipped when tires were mounted. I'd definitely powder coat the wheels.
Do you have the whole garage and you don’t have a paint gun I’m sure you have a compressor and black paint is pretty cheap basecoat and clearcoat. You could get for 50 bucks. You could even get a paint gun for 20 bucks at Harbor freight or even an HVLP at Home Depot for 60
Nice! Next video diy your helmet😂
The first time I heard the N word was in Savanah Georgia, for an Olympic weightlifting event. I was 17 in a Van being driven to a meet.
The white driver saw a car that looked like you MT 10 and said he ( hard R n word,) ‘ed up that Car. I was from California and mortified!!
Chase, of course is obviously not racist. So I think he light appreciate this story
Yo yo negus
Didn't include the materials list for the bike cleaning...
2k clear would have made for a much better finish with a more durable finish
The tank needs some serious work from what I could see ,it looks like it's full of dust ,nibs , fisheyes ect
Yeah, let's depreciate the value of the bike a few thousand $🤔
Hey Chase, I think ceramic flat black exhaust would look pretty sweet.
