I have read some books but in polish there's not much written about it. I guess that you are also interested in this topic and might be able to say some cool things :) take care :D

    • @mikacakes
      @mikacakes Před 5 lety +8

I read that gender identity is something the brain does independently of the body or it's dna that is to say that the brain as an organ believes it is a certain gender despite the body, dna, and hormones saying something else. It has been proven in brain scans studying transgender and cis participants, there is a high level of cognitive dissonance in transgender people when talking about birth assigned gender. Cognitive dissonance basically is when your thoughts or beliefs are contradictory or inconsistent - basically when you see a body part with your eyes but your brain believes you're a different gender to the one you can see when you look in your pants. It's one of the biggest reasons depression is so severe in pre-transitioned people, the brain cant cope with the constant cognitive dissonance, it causes a huge amount of stress and anxiety in the same way that it would if everyone told you the sky is red but you can clearly see it is blue.
These studies were really crucial in getting medical aid and state medical care to accept gender reassignment surgery as necessary and to stop thinking of transgender as a mental illness. It is not a mental illness, it is a biological misallignment between the gender of the brain and the gender of the body.

I'm also nonbinary and hopefully starting T soon. This has been a bit of a concern of mine too, but it kind of helped to reassess how and why i think about my genitals, and how we've sortof been conditioned since we're super young that vaginas should look a certain way, and if they don't they're undesirable. Having changes down there still feels a bit nervous, but I think it also helps to think about it as with puberty. Sure maybe EVERYTHING doesn't change exactly how you would like (in fact it probably definitely won't), but overall the changes will fit you and make you feel more complete!

@@quincy_kid1270 I can't answer for anyone else, but it wasn't scary for me. It was one of the many changes I was looking forward to.
Some trans guys do report some pain/discomfort as it's growing, but I didn't. For me the sensation was mostly pleasant.
As for the position... mine never got bigger than my thumb, and it's still attached to the labia minora, which naturally pulls it back, so when flaccid it remains within the labia majora. I would need to get surgery to have it sit more forward (which I've opted not to do).

Jamie this is why I love your channel!!!! You discuss stuff that other trans-men won't or don't. I wish more trans people would talk about realities of taking hrt for either way. Just like estrogen makes your penis and testes shrink. It doesn't go away but, it does get less prominent in most trans women. After it shrinks it does operate more like a clit than a penis and many report, as I am confirming, you have to stimulate it differently not like before hrt. Peeing standing up may be slightly harder as well I haven't tried in a long while nor do I have that desire. I'll leave that to the men.

As a cis guy, the education is great, but for me the most viscerally (ciserally?) refreshing thing about this video was the incredibly natural body positivity about small penises. I just felt compelled to mention that. If a trans guy grows a half inch penis, and is proud of that, that’s awesome, and, to be a little flippant, carries at least as much ‘big dick energy’ as, well, a big dick in my eyes. As always, thank you for your openness (openis?) and for giving people like me the opportunity to learn, grow, and better understand my fellow men, such as you.

Im a Homorromantic Ace cis girl and I don't even know any trans person irl... But I am watching this at 12 am instead of sleeping for no specific reason. Perhaps curiosity and the fact that it amazes me that "science" is slowly advancing? Don't know. Also Jamie is an awesome guy.
I really hope someday the physical body can be changed more effectively and more easily. That would be nice. Also if people could stop being assholes to one another because of mere ignorance, that'd be great.

Jamie you're my favourite youtuber, I can come here and get honest words and a relaxed chat and it's perfect - I'm also a British trans guy and 4 Months on T - I was incredibly shocked at how quick the bottom growth happens - it was the first thing to change ... also at first the sensitivity was crazy and uncomfortable and it was a week into my transition, also I had pain twice but ever since it's all just settled down and my body is just doing its thing now

It was a slow transition after my marriage ended and started to reflect and think about my life. I started as a masc/butch lesbian, the. Enby and have just recently decided to transition.

I'm nonbinary and considering going on T, but I'm not wild about having genital growth tbh - I would be going on low dose and probably not for a super long time, just for the voice and to look more androgynous, but you can't exactly pick and choose the changes. I do sometimes have genital dysphoria, but I don't know that these changes would help. What do nonbinary genitals look like? lol

Bottom growth was the one change that I just kind of ignored learning about before I started testosterone, but now that I'm on T, I realized I'm gonna want to be aware of what's happening to my body. I always thought there would be significantly less growth than there is for the average person, so it was exciting to learn there'd be a more noticeable change, and I didn't realize JUST how much it would change to function more like a cis penis.
Also, I noticed growth starting to happen within about 2-3 weeks on T, is that weird? It was/is very, very minimal, but still enough to recognize change in my own body. It felt like my body had an immediate mini-reaction to T. Like, I always had irregular periods, they always lasted for 1-2 months and would just be constant spotting. But the literal day after I started T, I stopped bleeding completely. I haven't had any indication of my periods coming back since. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't find it anything to be concerned about, because there's no pain or worrying symptoms, it's just a little odd to me. Not that I'm complaining xD

Is it that the bits get more sensitive or that the bits now extend out more and thus can rub against clothing more and make it feel more sensitive. Kind of like a cis guy before and after circumcision.

I think that, on T, sexual feeling for FTM's is a LOT more intense than for CIS guys because they're taking the same amount of T as CIS guys produce but, because the organ is much smaller in FTM's, there's a lot more bang for the buck, if you see what I mean.

Because like, as a genderfluid person, I’m really attached to my female body, but on the flip side I’d love to be able to change a couple things so I’d feel more comfortable presenting male, but at the same time I want to still sound and look female sometimes. Like, why can’t I just pick one, you know? My life would be so much easier.

I'm so sad everytime I hear about all the surgeries trans people have to go through... I know it's often for them a relief and a start of a better life, but you shouldn't have to go through all of that to be able to be yourself (not shouldn't like "they shouldn't do it", just "life is unfair, no-one should have to go through that amount of surgery").
