    For parts, this is what I picked up from this video. 1 ft of 2 in ID pipe to sleeve onto tire changer, 1 ft of 2 in OD Square Nesting Tube for horizontal, 1 ft of 2 in OD Pipe vertical that duck attaches to, 3 in of 2" square ID nesting tube, , 3 in of 2 in ID pipe for vertical sleeve interior, small piece of steel plate to mount duck, outdoor faucet handles, nuts, bolts, duck, and centering cone. Thanks again Bruce.

    Hi Bruce, we chatted over at Grampie' about the Auto Body experience and I thought to look you up. Interesting about the tire changer mod. I'll try this. Just this past week, I dropped a winter tire off at a local gargage for a slow leak. A few hours later I picked it up and they charged me $45 ! I was on Princess Auto website and the others, looking for a deal on a tire changer. Anyway, I've subscribed and would like to keep in touch. My wife is from Edmonton and I lived there in 2012-13. Now we are in BC on the coast. Take Care, Craig Everyday Projects

    • @BruceLyeg
      @BruceLyeg  Před 6 měsíci

      Hey Craig. Always nice to hear from another Canadian, especially one from Edmonton. It's crazy how much it costs to have tires mounted/dismounted these days. I keep looking on Facebook marketplace for an old tire machine but they sell fast when they're priced decent, so for now I'm still using this one. It's not perfect but it works ten times better than without the modification.

  • @acke26
    @acke26 Před rokem +2

    you dont need a duck head. best way to not scratch or damage the rim edge is simply to turn the rim upside down with the face pointing downwards. Just cut a hole in a rubber mat and place it on the top surface of the harbor freight tire changer. When working on the backside it doesn't matter if you get some minor scratches

    • @BruceLyeg
      @BruceLyeg  Před rokem +5

      The duck head does more than prevent scratches. Most importantly it makes removing and installing the tire much easier. Auto correct almost got me there. It tried to change “Duck head” into “Dick head” hahahahahah

    Thanks for sharing this. I changed out some 225/50r17 tires yesterday using the standard changer. It wasn’t to bad but this looks like it would have made the job much easier.
    It looks like the duck foot would protect the wheel from getting damaged during the removal and installation, is that correct?

    • @BruceLyeg
      @BruceLyeg  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Scott. I used the tire changer as I bought it a bunch of times before making the addition. It works but the mod made it about 75% easier to use and yes, the duck saves your rims from scratches.
