- The millennium dawn modern day mod for hearts of iron 4 is receiving its biggest update to date! The 1.9 update adds a ton of massive new focus trees, radically updated old ones, adds new economic mechanics, performance upgrades, and includes the plane and helicopter designer. This video covers the major changes so you know what you're in for when returning as well as highlighting some of the nations that are worth a playthrough or two. Millennium dawn is in almost all ways a stand alone game at this point and has few rivals which are able to keep up with the amount of changes and updates that are put out on a consistent basis. The 1.9 update for MD correlates and is updated to the latest arms against tyranny DLC. Any questions feel free to leave them in the comments!

If you could build real air defense batteries in Millenium Dawn that could move like normal units and need a supply of missiles.

I just can't believe my eyes! You have added new focus trees for Kazakhstan! I decided to play HOI4, but later I realized that the original game is not a modern world, and that the modern mode is a Millenium Dawn mod. I literally started playing this mod two days ago, and noticed that the focal trees of Kazakhstan are the same as many other countries. But I was also impressed by the army generals and the names of the templates and other parties of Kazakhstan. But literally today this update comes out with the addition of focus branches for my country! You are best! The inner world of Kazakhstan is actually interesting. In Kazakhstan there are problems with the Kazakh language, Kazakhstan needs a solution to “Limit Russian TV channels” or “Support the development of the Kazakh language” in which relations with Russia will worsen and stability will be added if the Nazi party is at the head of the state. We can make an event where we will meet Mukhtar Dzhakishev who will discover fuel resources; in reality, he made Kazakhstan the first in uranium production and the country was able to occupy 50% of the ranking in uranium production. You can make a decision to imprison Mukhtar Dzhakishev, which will improve relations with the USA and Russia a little. But if you don’t plant it, the relationship with the United States will worsen -5%, with Russia -25%, but a lot of fuel and other resources will be added because Mukhtar Dzhakishev planned to expand mining and make Kazakhstan number one in all Kazakhstan’s raw material reserves.

just checked out this mod very quickly, I must say it looks extremely impressive.. Like a totally new game! To think that Stellaris creators released another barebone stellaires game with Star Trek theme and charge a lot for it, I am just battled at how much content this mod provides. I cant wait to start a proper playhrough!

with all those energy buildings, good thing there is a 112 building slots mod ! (even a 224 if it gets updated !) (since over the 30 years I often play, I get several million people more -with welfare, health etc to the max ; so even more energy buildings to build)
Can't wait to play: i think the devs should focus more on the "historical" side of the mod; getting tired to see random wars and weird elections in the game

Not sure if the “historical focuses” option works on new games but I’d imagine it does. If not you can set the focus path for pretty much every country in the advanced settings and set those all to whatever the historical one would be

Looks like an incredibly fun set of additions for millennium dawn. My only worry is if the AI countries could keep up with the changes or if they’d fall behind into economic collapse after a few years of play
From what I have seen, the Ai can keep up with the new economic changes, and also, ai countries develop a better eco than before, making the game even more balanced
@@oliverborsutzky3408 previously the AI's best defense against war was how badly it ran its economies, making the incorporation of conquered territories a nightmare lol.

Thank you for the video! Has something changed with respect to deploying helicopters in an airfield? When I click on the button to indicate what aircraft I have available to deploy, I only see airplanes but not my 100 or so helicopters I built. Maybe just a bug in my game. Thank you

Always hated this mod for 3 reasons
1.) It's a complete eyesore. I love the stylistic pictures of Hoi4 Vanilla portraits (also ones in Kaiserreich/TNO). Compare that to the real life pictures with differing qualities in MD. Same goes for icons
2.) Other mods like Kaiserreich/TNO have a more streamlined experience and every game is a new story to tell. MD just feels like sandbox where nothing happens or it's a bunch of random wars. The fact MD plays in modern times considerably limits any narrative potential
3.) The new mechanics are just a pain to learn and all they really do is push some small modifiers around. This is just Eu4-levels of bloat. At least mods like Old World Blues make their new mechanics have some RP potential
TNO imo is barely playable due to the GUI being absolutely horrid to look at.
They keep adding more calculations on this mod making it run slower and slower let alone the amount of countries adding to the slow pace.
TNO ? Dfuq the mod is so bad the ui is so shit that you can find half of the menu and the mechanic are even worse that in millenium dawn
I agree that some of the systems are quite overbearing. Tbh though i’ve never once tried learning the satellite system and I get by without it lmao. If I were you i’d just ignore it since it doesn’t do “to much”.
@@thenickster2780 you can get by without it fine if you have good diplomatic ties with the more advanced nations, but it's not that hard to figure out, just takes time to research the tech and then build up the satellite networks. It's definitely worth it for the advantages it grants if you want to clash head on with the strongest nations instead of being diplomatic.
I hoped they would have reworked satellite and missiles, there is too much to choice, too many types to build, etc...
Also some quality of life for the decisions in UE, etc...
they did, you use money instead of IC, to prevent having to spend your whole yearly IC in satellites&missiles instead of building with it.
For the rest, true but this is supposed to be modern world ! (you just need to pick only few AA missiles for land&sea and maybe some ballistic missiles (even if not a nuclear power) to destroy enemy factories (only at war, not for volunteers) and build them when you can)
@@DarkSnake49542 just because you could always build every kind of ballistic missile type it never meant it was a good idea to do so. The game itself told you as much since the more you stockpile the greater your burden with maintenance expenses in the defense budget. Probably one of the greatest systems the mod has had for a long time. As for it now costing money instead of IC to build those things it seems like a great change, at least in theory.

Yeah, it seems like everyone prefers the focus tree structure that the teams behind the Spain and Italy focus trees did, now every focus tree basically follows a similar template. Which is pretty good since having to play in a system with multiple political parties and competing ideologies and having all the same choices available seemed nonsensical.
In workshop it looks like the mod isnt updated yet.

I love this addition because it gives some actual use to fuel, fossil fuel imports, nuclear reactors, etc.
Also the employment feature is super neat. I've had a lot of fun since this update.
Hey Hammurabae, is there any way to do an unemployment tutorial? I don't see a way to get people employed in agriculture, and I'm pretty sure all of the industry types are automatically set at 100% employment goal.

I do enjoy Millenium Dawn as a setting, but god the economic additions make me really wanna tear my hair out.
Skill issue
It shouldn't be too hard, the old economic system was quite straight foward. Just takes time to chew through all the terms
Consumer tax decreases stability, Business tax decreases the amount of factories available. Build offices for more taxes and gdp Try to get your five branches of state responsibilities as high as possible. Never invest anywhere - you won’t ever see the money from it.

@@georgeousthegorgeous not true, it just takes time for it to make any difference, but if your economy is healthy you should definitely build up as much additional income as possible. With some nations it might be outright impossible, with some it takes decades, and with others just some years. In this the game is quite realistic, if you start with a poor and under-developed nation you can't expect to be on technological parity with the biggest nations on all sectors while also having the economy to support it. You can say that the game is too realistic, which it is, if you try to play a really bad nation that doesn't even have a focus tree it's gonna be boring as hell and you'll need to play decades until you're able to do anything.

I hope they do an update for the UK to be able to do the modern day version of the Imperial Federation especially as the countries of Canada and Australia have much larger populations now then compared to vanilla. They could even add in some population growth stats like the freedom of movement and the ability to core places like Ireland where if you spend enough PP you can core the annexed country and increase the population of said area. Also hope they do my country Albania soon.

Regarding the russo-ukranian war (this comment has just been banned in russia lol) now you get a focus tree that gives buffs for core warfare, spawning volunteer divisions and international brigades aswell

Yeah, at least a basic one that allows you to go down the pro CCP or pro Independence path. As it stands, the most likely starting point of WW3 IRL is oddly quiet in MD. China should get focuses or decisions to counter and influence what Taiwan is doing (along with the US), for example incursions by ships or aircraft, military exercises, etc.. with a very small chance of things going badly and igniting a war.
I hope South Africa gets a focus tree.

You dont need any of the DLC's for it but some features wont be active without the required DLC's such as intelligence agencies for La Resistance, or proper naval designs for Man the guns.
