    I always highly appreciate manufacturers using type c 100w pd charger which is good for users because of its convenience, compactness and high portability.But that is with the right configuration and the right way to optimize power, and with lenovo and this slim 7 pro x laptop, the story is completely different. 6800hs is not a chip in amd's power-saving chip line, the standard 35w tdp sometimes uses up to 45-60w turbo boost and a 3050 dgpu also needs nearly 50w, 3k 120hz screen, power for the system and peripherals if using them . It is not difficult to guess that this laptop will consume more than 100w and will squeeze out the battery if let run at max performance because I myself also use a lenovo thinkbook 15 g2 itl with i5 1135g7 max 28w, mx450 25w, fullhd screen and 18w charge for my phone via thunderbolt port 4.I noticed my device was charging slowly then started to drain battery, performance decreased and battery temperature increased. I really like my laptop and was trying to figure out the bug or something affecting it , finally I realized it was the cpu tdp that was really too hard to control so I turned off turbo boost . From using up to 40w it drops to 15w, the system is cooler and the battery is charged again. I accept the loss of cpu's performance to make the system more stable. I hope my sharing will help you choose the right laptop

    As I read on some Chinese Social networks (Weibo,..), the Pro X can take advantage of the Legion 135W AC adapter. They said that they implemented a secret protocol for the laptop USB C to use up to 135W, especially when charging the battery during heavy tasks. But that only applies to the Legion 135W AC adapter.

    thank you so much for this info!
    I'm waiting for the computer to come home and was a scared about the information that the system eats from the battery even when the computer is plugged into power. This must be considered a serious design flaw.
    Thinking, what happens if you have extreme performance mod, and the battery runs out? Will it be CPU throttle? Frame drops?
    If I understand you correctly, the battery will not be affected in extreme performance mod as long as you only use an external monitor?
    What does extreme performance mod really mean? Surely you want this activated when you render a movie in Premiere Pro? It would be very unfortunate if you are traveling and need to render a movie, and do not have access to an external screen. It would be a disaster to have to buy a portable external screen.

    • @WattPerformance
      @WattPerformance  Před rokem +1

      I would not be to worried in your usecases. When rendering in davinci it never drains the battery as the system isn’t capped to max. Only noticed it when gaming intensive games.

    Hi there, love the video, but i am left a little bit confused. Would you care to explain in a bit further detail what you mean by "perf on"? Is this simply activating the automatic switching? • @BirkChristensen-ur1jt
      @BirkChristensen-ur1jt Před rokem +1

      Also, when i test this (performance mode, vs intelligent cooling with automatic switching) i find huge performance gabs in heaven benchmark. 12 FPS in difference. This is quite off your findings, any reason why?

    • @WattPerformance
      @WattPerformance  Před rokem

      @@BirkChristensen-ur1jt certainly! As to your last question, have you enabled intelligent cooling with automatic switching to performance mode if the laptop notices the need for more performance? That could be the reason for why your results are off.
      As to the first point, I’ve also noticed that the power draw is larger than the charger can supply even when going with intelligent cooling with the automatic switching to performance. I’ve solved this in my next two videos (disabling cpu boost when gaming and undervolting the GPU). This is very easy once done and simple switches of the button.
      But, it does require fidgeting and if that is not cup of tea, the issue remains from the supplier where their response is inadequate. So do keep in mind that it will draw on the battery when needed if you don’t customize cpu/GPU and consider returning if that is to cumbersome for you. I like these tuning aspects but that’s not for everyone :)
      I do really like the build, screen and performance (with my mods) so I have not found a superior offering elsewhere (especially not in the price class).
