  • This clip will guide you on how to install the PeppyMeter screensaver plugin from start to finish. This is a Mac version. You can also do it with Windows.
    Hardware needed:
    A Raspberry Pi 4 (2 or 4 or 8gb) with a power supply 5v 3a
A micro SD card (16gb or bigger) with a card reader
    A DAC
A Screen with HDMI port (I use a screen from my old Dell laptop 15.4" 1280x800) with HDMI cable
    A Mac (for this video)
    Software needed:
    Volumio for Pi - updates.volumio.org/pi/volumi...
    Etcher - www.balena.io/etcher/
    FileZilla - dl3.cdn.filezilla-project.org...
    Peppy_Screenserver - github.com/2aCD-creator/volum...
*** Spotify on Volumio 2.9x only works with a small modification in the spotify template.

Great vid Andy. Super straight forward install.
Followed along and it still holds up 2 years later on the most up to date Volumio on a PI 4 to a Topping D10s using just the 7inch pi touch screen.
Shame the Tidal Connect is still not there, but everything else is primo!

Thank you for this guide. I was able to make it work on my Rpi4 connected to my Sony 55inch TV. For others, take note that the installation of both the touch display and the peppy meter plugin took a long time since the process involves downloading lots of smaller files from various locations. Another caveat is when unzipping the archive, make sure to unzip to a folder, not in the current directory (especially if there are other files there as well) so that the resulting files are organized and not all over the place. Thanks!

    • @Naimnatnod1
      @Naimnatnod1  Před 2 lety +1

The short answer is simplicity. I always wanted to have a good streaming system that can do the following:
      - Play music files from my NAS
      - Play all kind of formats (flac, wave, DSD, mp3, etc.)
      - be able to control from my cellphone, tablet and remote computer (both Mac & Windows)
      - reasonable price
      - Good sound quality
      - peppy meter plugin - an excellent added-on
      - easy to use and setup
I still have a 13 inch MacBook Pro connected to my stereo system just for recording my favorite songs from my vinyl collection. Tried Audirvana (also roon) before but didn't answer my need.
I am totally satisfied with my current setup now.

Hi Pietro, could you please provide me more information on equipment (Raspberry Pi (version?) or PC or Tinkerboard) and how you connect to your dac, Volumio version? Are you playing with file, tidal (within Volumio) or via Tidal Connect?

@@pietromurgia4458 Hi Pietro, with Pi4 2gb you should be able to have the peppy meter plugin installed and working without any issue. I don't think the dac board has got anything to do with it. This is strange. To help you better, please go to this thread and the author of this peppymeter plugin (2aCD) might jump in to see what happen.
If I were you, I would do it again from beginning. If it's still the same, perhaps I could remotely look into your set up and go from there.
