Maxsym 600i - 22.500 Kms maintenance and reasons for a motorscooter

  • Long video on maintaining my Max, engine oil, oil filter, transmission oil, spark plug, squeaking issues, cooling liquid, crankcase exhaust, tire check, etc. And why I choose a motorscooter v. a motorcycle.
    I combined two different videos in one, as I did the spark plug before, but since I was at it I decided to create a kind of "maintenance 101" video for the Maxsym 600i.
    A few bloopers, at 00.31 I said suspension oil instead of transmission oil, and at 30.30 I indicated the wrong holes - the right ones are those without the metal clip for that specific component. I am filming with my phone so the usual finger in front of the lens. And since I need to take many shorts from a very uncomfortable position I sometimes had difficulties in finding what I want too show you, and focusing the camera right.
    The advised amount of transmission oil is 330 ml.
    Like, subscribe if you want, ask questions, leave a comment. I do this for fun, I am not sponsored or paid in any way by anybody. Cheers!

    Hello my friend!
    Today I've changed the belt and I put rollers Dr Pulley 25x17 15 grs
    Waw it puts à kick ass !!!
    No More vibrations between 3000 and 4000 rounds per minute
    And 0-50 km/h on 3 seconds
    I'm very happy with it!
    I changed the air filter too and the rear brake...

    Of all the good things you showed us you forgot something which I believe is also very important, Keep you bike clean and wash it down once in a while.

    Hi Francesco, great idee , the information about refilling or changing radiator coolant.
    Following the service manual,i also think its a bit to complicated.
    I think my maxsym never had a coolant change,,it has around 8000 km now,and is 3 years old
    (most motordealers,never do it ,as i read frequently)
    and the level is low,so i need to refill it
    Searching the internet,they warn about the risk of mixing different cooling liquides.
    I don't know what to think about?
    The SYM BRAMAX radiator coolant,(recomended)wich i think is still in my maxsym,
    I don't think its available,anyway ,i can not find it .
    What coolant do you use?
    Maybe you can you give me some advice ?
    Nice video again,and i learned a lot off things looking at all your other video's!
    Thanks!

      Hi Peter! My thinking is that as long as the cooling liquids are in specs for Max it does not really matter. Same for engine and trasmission oil. Max is a simple machine, not a porche... Have done just less than 25000 kms, not a single issue! Cheers!

    Hallo.
    Een tip voor de volgende olie wisseling van het distributiesysteem.ik gebruik daar een 100ml injectiespuit voor. Werkt prima voor deze dikke olie. Kun je ook goed bijhouden hoeveel er in gaat. Groeten Hans.

    Can I ask you about the drive belt? All belts I can find for sale are marked for 2011-2015 models. Are they ok for 2016? or they are different belts for newer models?

    • @francescometalli1004
      @francescometalli1004  Před 3 lety

      I'm not sure actually... You should look at the specifications for the belt itself, particularly size. If that fits, then it should be okay.
      Cheers!

    Hi! How is the scooter with the 16 gr sliders after all this time ? Does the limit speed (160/170 km) maintains?
    Thanks for the videos.. i have a similar maxsym 600i.

    • @francescometalli1004
      @francescometalli1004  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! The sliders do fine, but don't know about max speed. Here limit is 100 kmh, and frankly I wouldn't go as fast as 160 on a scooter anyway. Small wheels...
      Cheers!

    Hello dear Francesco. I also have a Sym 600i 2019, and i saw you changed the transmission oil, and you used 80w90. Even though in the manual it says you have to use 85w140. Can you tell me why? I also have to change the oil on the 1000 km revision.

    • @francescometalli1004
      @francescometalli1004  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Pop, easy answer... Can't find anything else than that. Asked the shop where I bought Max, they told me the 80w90 is fine. I had no issues with it. So out of specs but still feasible. It happens a lot. Max is easy...
      Cheers!

    you do the valve adjusting yourself? As it is SOHC with locknut it should be easy to do but is it wel accessible? My choice for a honda CBX 500 fell off because of this job ( you need to remove all the electrics on top of the cilinder head.

    • @francescometalli1004
      @francescometalli1004  Před rokem +1

      Hi. I didn't need to adjust the valves yet... The cylinder head is not easy to access. For that kind of ops I would probably ask an expert. Too risky to mess up, and it needs instruments I don't have.
      Cheers!

    No idea what good that dr pulley does. I have a 2019 maxsym 600i. No vibration once or ever at any rpms.. they fixed that issue at 2018. Plus, dr pulley gets you faster to 100 km/h. But you lose top speed and you lose the gentle reaction from the variator in city rides. I have tested all of that for 3 weeks and then I put back the original rollers.
    Everyone have different experience with each bike, so I might be wrong.
    Anyway, clean the variator(dust) every 4000 km.

    Salve Francesco, se posso darle un consiglio, al prossimo cambio olio sviti il bullone da 17 posto esattamente sotto il banco del motore invece del bullone da 12 che ha svitato lei... O comunque sviti entrambi perché in quello da 17 troverà uno screen filter (bloccato da una molla) che deve essere regolarmente pulito. Le lascio il link dei disegni esplosi...

    Schön, schön langwierig erklärt, jedoch zeigst du nicht wie du schraubst, das ist schade ! ;(
    Meine Empfehlung wäre noch das wichtige Reinigen des Grob-Ölfilter, der mittig in der Ölwanne sitzt ! ;)
