  • Changed the old, original rollers with new sliders. A lot of difference, much smoother ride, and better acceleration. I took a video of the whole process for you. Hope it provides some useful info

    Hi Francesco, last year on July the 24th I bought bright new Maxsym 600i too. In three months I made near 5000 km. Now when is cold I'm not driving it. Very happy with scooter. I read on the internet that it has bad air filtering system and must be improoved because it can penetrate in machine a lot of sand and could harm the piston rings, as a result, the engine starts consuming much more motor oil. Greetings from Slovenia.

      Hi Viktor! Congrats with your Maxsym 600! I have read comments about the air system too... however, I am not sure they are completely correct. When I changed mine I did not notice anything unusual apart from the expected amount of dirt that the filter is supposed to stop. I also read recommendations to install a "sport" air filter that leaves more air passing through... more air means more dirt, imho, so... I don't know, I am wary of modifying something so important as the air filter system. If I do not see something obviously wrong with something I tend to leave it as it is. Besides, changing it will probably invalidate the warranty. But, curious to know if you notice any difference after you modify yours!
      Cheers!

    Great video bought a 600i a few days ago and found acceleration jerky just like you have said , plus some more vibration throughout the bike . Going to take my time and go through this over the next month. Many thanks indeed for you video Paul

    So glad to see these video's, i picked up a secondhand maxsym400i 2014, its a great bike. But my frustration is the cost of a rear light lens. The one on mine is broken, france 82euros UK £162 that is the only thing that i don't like about the brand. The parts are hard to get in the UK. Anyway ride safe and keep the videos coming.Cheers Paul

      Thanks Pablo! Parts are not that easy, it's an Asian brand. However I guess prices would not be much cheaper for competing products...
      Ride safe and have fun!

    Hi Francesco, I've owned a Maxsym 600i sport abs for the past 3 months. Have only managed to ride it a few times due to covid restrictions, but already I love the bike and the ease of riding. I owned a 700 Honda Deauville prior to this and although it was a great bike on the motorway, it was hell to ride in traffic. Having a 5 speed manual box, it was rattly and indecisive when travelling at low speed. Consequently I lost enthusiasm for riding it unless I was hitting the motorway. I owned a burgman 400 before that and loved that bike too. I much prefer the low level gravity and the easy ride laid back style these scooters offer. My Maxsym is a 2018 model with just 5500kms. You mentioned vibrations and I am feeling quite a bit of vibration so I may try changing the rollers in mine too see if it makes a difference. So this video showing you changing the rollers on yours w very helpful even though I did it on my burgman. The setup is virtually identical so shouldn't be a problem. You're the only English speaking maxsym owner I've come across on CZcams so am very grateful for your hints and tips. Keep up the good work and don't change your bike for another make yet. Regards, Phil

    Nice informative series of videos on the SYM MaxSYM 600i. I think the reason your Max's engine is running a few hundred rpm higher at cruising speed is because the sliders you fitted are intended for the 400i which, logically, should run at a higher rpm than the 600i at any particular cruising speed. My search on Dr. Pulley for sliders for 600cc engines failed, the list ending at 400cc.

    Hello Francesco, thanks for your well done video's. Just as you, am i a dutchman. I have enjoyed your video's.
    I am thinking of buying an used 600i. I have seen a very nice one, in black, from 2014 but it has 47.000 km.
    It had been well maintained, I think it's oké but sometimes you Just have to take a gamble. I am going to see it this weekend and hope that it's realy oké. Just as you I can do the small maintenance by myself. Now that I saw your video's I think it's not so hard to do.
    Keep on putting nice video's on CZcams. Maybe I will join you in making video's if I buy the 600i.

      Hi, and thank you! Best wishes with the Maxsym 600, I hope you will like it. It's a CVT vehicle, so unless it ran out of oil there is not so much it can go wrong with it. Give it a good look, 47000 km is not nothing but I think it should be ok if well maintained. Let me know how it goes.
      Cheers!

    Hi Francesco. Well done for the great videos.
    I bought recently a used one (19000 km model 2017 special edition) and thinking of replacing the rollers with dr. pulley. As for fuel consumption have you done any measurement? What's the difference with the original ones? How many litres for 100 km? I had previous experience with dr pulley sliders on a Sym Citycom (300cc) and indeed it takes off the motorcycle and the driving experience but increases consumption close to one liter (20-25%) per 100 km.

    • @francescometalli1004
      @francescometalli1004  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi E D. Unfortunately I didn't make new measurements, also because my travelling changed. I used to do a lot of highway, but due to covid restrictions I couldn't anymore. However, my current riding, mostly city and intercity, delivers a 220 km each full tank. Extrapolating from previous results, my guess is the difference, if any, is quite small. The trick to save fuel remains in the way a vehicle is used, and max loves acceleration, but at a cost. Full gas at a stoplight leaves everyone in the dust, but it's not economical at all.
      Cheers!

      Hi Jacques. I don't carry a passenger often, but I did it a few times. I could cruise at highway speeds with zero problems. Acceleration was also still fine. I doubt that the Maxsym will ever underperform. Its engine is really very generous. Cheers!

    • @francescometalli1004
      @francescometalli1004  Před 4 lety

      Hi Peter, if the scooter is new I don't advise to change the rollers. Max needed some time to settle in, and at idle it does vibrate a bit anyway. You can see a difference only if the rollers are weared off as mine, they become asymmetric and cause vibration both at idle and at speed. If your max is second hand, you should check both rollers and belt. Will look up vendor for you. Cheers!
