There's even a character named Rowan in the game!
No thanks, I know fairlight games, and they are NOT fair to players 😂
I installed the game before the video lol and the previous game afk arena
Yeah nah
Don't you guys feel ashamed supporting games like this?
Adam might sue him for stealing his iconic weep 😂
Practice makes perfect!
Many hours off camera was spent training him for his iconic weep, i guess!
Was probably his past self and the incident that broke him.
Kekekeke
Copy right infringement 🤣
He did the Adam weep at the end, love it. 😄
There will be consequences.
Rob smashing the cry.wav 😍😍
Good work
Missed that. Went and watched again. Awesome catch!
Alan channeled some angry-Garlic energy to motivate Rowan lol
Dont even try to compare it to Adam’s weep
Whoever thought of the idea to wait ingame to actually be able to play the game deserves to play it for themselves
It's not actually a terrible concept, it's designed for mobile games where you check it in the morning, check it on the bus, check it on your break, check it on the way home etc. You're doing other things and then you check in on your progress. It's the microtransactions that they cram into the game that make it shit.
Think he means having to afk with the game open for the rewards. Normally u can have the game closed to still be able to passively get rewards used to progress.
This is a system designed for micro payments: out of moves? Just buy more!
@@arandombard1197 It is a terrible concept that's just designed to milk people.
@@arandombard1197 He meant the games where you need to have the game open to load any progress when being afk.
There is lots of games with "when you in game you get 100 gold per hour but when the game is closed you get 1 gold per hour" - that is just outrageous concept.
Ahhh Rowan.... casually going to sleep while people are crying & dying. And he's not affected by it at all or whatsoever. This is a man that's going to be over 200 years old
Rowan brought Adam back to life to continue robbing him😂People crying is none of his business
And he does not pay for fancy skins.
'people'
I casually go to sleep while people are crying and dying too but to be fair life has taught me that I'm not going to get an opportunity to do anything about it. I think I'm the punchline to someone's joke.
He isn't even affected by the "You can't sleep while enemies are nearby" thing 😳
The Eugene reference at the end was perfect
When a third-party advertisement has infinitely more quality and care behind it than the advertised product
Yea, so cringey with all the "I have 5 millions power, what you going to do about it?" Trope.
@@jackieaung4354The ones I always hated were the ones where they go up to some random person like, "Do you have a phone? GIVE HIM 777 FREE DRAWS" I'd be like, what draws, wtf are you talking about?
@jimwormmaster I remember seeing one recently that was like "I got 1000 free draws and unlocked everything the first day!" and.....how is that appealing? Like why should I even bother? Isn't the entire point of gacha games the "gacha" of trying to get random characters?
Still won't make me download it. I'm not sure people realize how fucked up those games are. Try to avoid them like a plague.
The ProZD style...
When he realized how much gold he had, I honestly expected Rowan to run off to the shop to buy cosmetic outfits!🤣🤣
He needed them. His clothes were dreadful!
I thought they would say, "Yes! There's enough gold! Just purchase a gem..."
Nah, the cosmetics are never purchasable with the idle rewards, those _always_ need the premium currency that you have to shell out real cash for or rarely get from in-game achievements / temporary events.
pink cowboy outfit comes to mind
@@coryzilligen790 that was though because the mechanic wasn't clear in the sketch.
Usually it's "Pay (Premium Currency) to skip the waiting time!" so they expected that to be the case here too, but for Rowan to use the Premium Currency from the achievements to buy skins instead
He just wanted a reason to take a nap on set
I'm just glad he kept his clothes on
i love Rob doing Adam's pitiful cry
So he had enough kills, exploration and puzzles to get the gold needed, but the progress bar didn't fill until the characters reminded him that he had already done it? Strange mechanic.
Usually you need to complete daily quests to get the rewards.
Maybe it was like one of those where you need to go to a character menu to "check in" to accept the reward
in those games you need to collect your reward by tapping on a button or the reward. maybe he just ignored that stuff.
Also needing gold for a fight, that's another strange mechanic too
@@dNIGHTCROWLERb bonus action above the daily limit maybe
You know I'll watch it, even though it's an ad of a stupid mobile game. But the production is incredible as always!
Wish it was funny though. But hey, that's advertising for ya...
@@CIinboxTruth.
Game is actually fun though.
@@chobitsotaku5613🤡
The gameplay is actually fun for people who wanna play casual games or people who don't have too much time invest in games.
Lol I totally did not expect this. I thought it was going to be the player's having to wait but it's the NPCs that gets stuck in permanent limbo 😂
I expected the enemies to say "Oh for God sake save them already!".
Making me watch an AFK game commercial without realising it’s an AFK game commercial… im not even mad. That was cleverly done 😂
The best ads are like this
This is a CalebCity tier ad❤
It is just my imagination or Rob really has done Eugene's cry? 😂
+5 points for knowing the character's name!
Not exactly the same, but yeah.
Nope, I noticed it right away too
He did and not only was it an Easter egg for us fans but also shows Rob is a fan of his friends work. I genuinely love all of these people!
I love that we're finally seeing Robert in another sketch outside of the D&D content. He brings a certain Je ne sais quois to every scene he is in.
Rowan must be like, "HAH ROB! MY TURN TO DRESS CASUALLY!"
Also the subtitles were great! "Friend transferring for Uber be like..."
Is that Lauren O'Hara?
It is indeed! Lovely to have her back
Adam weep, 10/10, great execution, ideal moment, perfect sound, great accentuation.
I love that Rob became one of the permanent cast!!!

The fact we are getting so much of Rob in these videos lately makes me so happy! 😂
Oh hey it's Rob!
It is! And Brynley 😍
@@VivaLaDirtLeague I love Brynley but seeing Rob in a non-D&D episode feels more jarring lol
@@Vermouth_19 Seeing him in Bored or Baelins route (well, that one only for a while, but still) was amazing 😀 Especially the one "Mistaking another customer for an employee - Uniform" episode "... What is happening?" 😀
Rob channelling Adam's "save us!" voice at the beginning and iconic sobbing at the end was a lovely touch of bookending. And I had NO CLUE that this was a sponsored skit until the end, just another excellent comedy sketch.
I feel like the kid in the scene from Christmas Story with the Ovaltine decoder: A crummy commercial?!?!?
Their sponsored stuff is some of their best. I'd rather VLDL get that money than some of these terrible actors I've seen on other mobile game ads
Be sure to drink your Ovaltine!
Eugene would be proud of that cry at the end, lol.
"Adam Weep" should be a preset emote in all RPGs.
I honestly expected to hear a toilet flush revealing Rowan was just pooping on company time and ready to get back to work
I 100% knew it's a ad just by the quality 😂
Lol advertiser did not pay enough for Rowan's costume.
@@clray123 Rowan is the player, i say he fits the part. Or he could have gotten naked again which also fits for Rowan
game title: AFK something
VLDL: YOU ARE REWARDED FOR ACTUALLY DOING STUFF
me: wtf
Na there is still a crap ton of waiting or paying. Not any different then every other
They said not JUST waiting meaning some bits you do have to wait i.e. trashy like every other mobile game.
yea i hope they got paid big for this because i hate those types of games. sorry VLDL cant save you from the bs you just said.
Imagine the sort of society we live in where a game actually being a game is groundbreaking.
Reminds me of a Harry Potter app game I played once. One of the first missions was an 8-hour time limit quest to save yourself from Devil's Snare -- a plant with vines that constricts you to death if you fight it.
I got to watch my character ineffectually kick and pull at the vines in a series of cycles to spend my energy to get out of it, which took several hours for the energy to replenish on its own before I had enough to actually get out of it. Considering my character was an 11-year-old girl, I think it's safe to say that she canonically died in the attempt, lmao.
'A game requires playing' is advertised as a strong point....Oh Game Industry.
dark times
I love that Rob did that cry 😂
You guys are so great at these skits! lol Love how Robert's being incorporated more now. He has some great acting skills with a multitude of different characters, in his bag of holding.
Tldr: FML, thats the ad.
If real phone games did this, I can only imagine the amount of children that would spend their parents money to continue… terrifying (legitimate time requirement quests)… oh thats the ad.
should someone tell him?
A skill issue then. Parenting skill issue
That harry potter mobile game that strangles your character and tells you to pay up to help him now, or watch him being strangled for the next few hours.
@@akmal94ibrahim oh yeah, never played it again. Legend has it he's still being strangled to this day
We need a shirt of Rowan sleeping that says: "holding out for a hero to save us... Enough gold in 20hrs 5 mins" with a reverse of him running away that says: "nvm gonna bail on you and explore".😂
"You gain exp by doing, not just waiting." Is this what quality gaming has become?
"Quality" gaming? No. Mobile gaming, yes. Not even any gameplay. Just watching and waiting.
I honestly have no idea who these are for. It feels like cynical shareholders who've never touched a game made them to mock the artform. But then, Yoko Taro of all people made not one but two of these shitty AFK games (Nier Replicant and Alice I think), and because of that the art direction and writing for those games are way better than they have any right to be.
Love sseeing Rob in more of the skits! He's such a great actor.
Honestly not sure how I feel about a whole bit which is a commercial for a mobile game....
They also must live on something.
@@Universal_Craftsman Like CZcams revenue, Patreon Revenue, Kickstarter Revenue and donations?
@@JaneNayes How do you mean that?
They need to get paid, we can't but accept it...

You can really see the difference in terms of quality since they got their studio. Those costumes are amazing!
I love seeing rob in skits he really is versatile he can be a side character main character or -insert intense music- THE GOD (dm) 😊
OMG THE ADAM WEEP AT THE END AHAHAH 😂😂💀💀
It's been a while since I heard an Adam-Cry. Nice touch at the end :D
Just when I had enjoyed all the jokes he had to hit me with the Adam-weep. 😂

Shouldn't this be properly labelled as advertising?
Definitely should yeah
That's when they try to hide it, which they're not.
Love the Adam cry.wav 😂
I knew right when I saw the daily it was a AFK style game, lol.
I suggest turning the "Adam Weep" into the new Wilhelm Scream.
There are more samples than just the Wilhelm Scream. This could just be one of them.
About 30 seconds in, I had the sickly feeling in my stomach that I was being shown an ad for a garbage mobile game. My stomach was not wrong.
Most youtubers are guilty of shilling raid shadow legends etc. most creators can't survive without sponsorships.
@@Universal_Craftsman Maybe VLDL shouldn't have started blowing up their production then... Every "thing" starts going sour when it becomes too big. - Don't get me wrong, we've gotten some gems with the higher budget in terms of looks and also the actors they could get on, but I also feel it's too much for all the time and the whole charm of the "just some guys making videos" has disappeared, especially for the Bored-videos, which were just that, and now it's clearly a set with fake products. (which works too, but... it's too obvious now). - But yea, I feel like they're basically forced to turn to the biggest sponsors they can get, and those mobile game companies probably have mountains of money.
@@michaelmonstar4276 I couldn't agree more with your point about the passion project feel disappearing.
It now feels too run of the mill like any other show, almost a bit corporate and the humour feels a bit too forced in places. I still go back to original bored and epic npc man episodes regularly.
I'm not really bothered about them doing ads, whatever pays the bills! But in general it all feels a bit too predictable and almost seems too family-friendly or all-ages-focused (not that its inherently a bad thing) meaning most of the jokes seem really simplified and over-explained.
Their peak was definitely in their first 160 or so boreds with the original writing and jokes and their characteristic cinematography - in fact I associate that same point, when they changed their camera and shooting style, with the beginning of the downfall of the writing (not to sound too pessimistic...)
And of course they still put out good videos and the production value is amazing, but none of these videos shine like their old content. None of them are as iconic or have the same classic, and more personal atmosphere which also seemed more relatable to the viewer, and made it feel more 'real' (much more than their new purpose-built sets!!).
I'm all for expanding the cast and the scope of their projects, but I really don't want to see them lose their original identity that I loved.
And its not just VLDL, this has happened to loads of other projects (especially games) and it hurts to see them follow the same path of middling the road, appealing to as many people as possible. It makes sense to do this from a business perspective, but I think it makes it less iconic and loses character.
Eugene has been recast!
(They gave him a new sprite in the update, because everyone was saying how much he looks like Baradun.)
Headcanon: When Baradun was first de-powered in the D&D campaign, he was living as Eugene until he got memory back.
ROB DOING THE WEEP AT THE END.... PRICELESS!!! ❤❤❤❤
2:09 Excellent Adam impression.
Viva La Dirt League... where an ad is the actual content and entertainment and is still better than most shows on Netflix.
2:09 the Adam cry got me - genius!
even if you do exploration, doing puzzle and anything else you'll hit a wall because your level is too low to do anything
so you have to wait it less a day to keep going (or pay real money)
That is when the game engine should be adjusting stuff for the players. In this case defeating the village raid would be providing 'gold' that the players need.
I got afk journey ad before the video, only to see another afk journey ad😅
For sure can always tell when it's just an ad
Rob doing the Eugene cry 😂😂😂 I laughed so hard
I thought this was going to be something about how the protagonist in some games will stand there and do nothing instead of actually jumping into action for the sake of the plot.
In rune factory 4, there’s a part where you chase down 2 enemy soldiers to get back a thing they stole. They end up just standing there arguing about something for about a minute. The protagonist is standing about five feet away with nothing between him and them. Does he kill them while they’re distracted arguing? Nope just stands there and watches. All so a thing later can happen that could have been easily prevented.
Those costumes are fire.
2:08
Ahhhh you are man of culture your-self I see
Those extras where going hard for that background stuff. Well done everybody
Terrific skit! Seems Rowan here is Rowan from Bored. Utterly devoid of compassion while only concerned about himself and his own wants! LMAO
It's an ad, nothing to see here.
Film quality through the roof.
2:09 Nice Eugene impression
Npc Eugene has ascended to become a NPC acting coach. Nice😂
Wow Rob's in this sketch!
Just for the record, I never pay money, I make them wait.
Add the Eugene's weep as a Wilhelm scream.
Whenever a game tells me I’m not allowed to play it, I listen, permanently
The hero’s need to find the rich pay to win kid to fight for. Makes their life easier
When a game forces me to wait... then I force the game to wait for another chance I give it. Maybe.
I saw this on CZcams ad. It was hilarious 😂 Worth re-watching 😂
Love the contrast between Alan and his bigass anime sword and Rowan kicking it in modern clothes
Dont hate the player, hate the game

@@mike0172ajax you're either wrong, either trolling.

I have to wonder what they mean by "You get rewarded by actually doing things" when that describes almost every game ever. Maybe they found a middle ground between an AFK game and an "at keyboard" game? I am going to make zero effort towards answering that question.
You have reached another level. Amazing work. Direction, Music, actors, clothing, equipment, imagination, dialogue, attention to sooooo many details. Simply amazing.
This is one educational yet entertaining way to advertise an RPG game. Seems like the heroes have just as much fun as the players do. Funny enough though, the players aren't all knowing gods after all.
Should have "AD" in the thumbnail or title.
It has the "Paid content" tag, that's what CZcams mandates.
You can't see that until after you click the video. Am I missing something?
The cinematic quality of these shorts just keeps improving. Nice to see our patreon money go to good cause 😁
That cry at the end, is Robert Hartley turning into the new Eugene? Also, for these type of mobile games, another way to shorten the wait time is to watch a 30 second ad.

Yep, trash mobile games in a nutshell
'By actually doing instead of waiting '
The games title begs to differ.
This reminds me of a Monty Python skit from the Holy Grail. "Get on with it!"

Love the Moirel and Lucius cosplay!
I play their AFK game. It's pretty good.
Until I saw the afk journey thing at the end I just thought it was a regular skit. But looking back at it, that mirael costume was top notch. (OG afk arena player)
First a video to sell merch, now a video for an app. Yep. Am done. If I wanted a commerical I'd watch youtube without ad blocker.
I've always liked that VLDL do full skits tied to the promotion. That's how you do advertising, you put some effort into.
Legends say they’re still waiting to this day 💀
You can always tell the ad videos they crank out by the drop in quality and humor in them, I called it 10 seconds in
And this is why mobile games will be inherently worse than regular games: they tolerate this stuff and keep pumping money into it.
