I was rewatching this show with my little sister and when i got to this part i muted the tv so my mom would not question what were we have watching, and also to protect my sister from swearing, in my dub (Brazilian portuguese) grunkle stan says "SEU FILHO DE UMA MÃE" that means you son of a Mother, sounds normal right, here in Brazil what stan said is just a minor way of saying YOU SON OF A B-, and what he said in the dub is technicaly a swear, so lets say he sweared here
Some of these are not even "adult" jokes, they're just jokes that work due to good writing I think people underestimate what the standard is for kids shows honestly

The pugs being smuggled implies that people across the border are forbidden to own / restricted from owning them. The most likely reason for that would be, that the government doesn't want untrustworthy people to own pets / pugs. So Grunkle Stan most likely enabled shady people to obtain pugs, so who knows what they will do to them? Neglect them? Abandon them? Mistreat them? Eat them? Stan is still truely not what he seems.
Also I know this is well known by almost all the fans at this point, but at 4:12 the dog is telling Mabel "don't trust grunkle" backwards. Things like that blew my mind when I watched it.

I was rewatching this show with my little sister and when i got to this part i muted the tv so my mom would not question what were we have watching, and also to protect my sister from swearing, in my dub (Brazilian portuguese) grunkle stan says "SEU FILHO DE UMA MÃE" that means you son of a Mother, sounds normal right, here in Brazil what stan said is just a minor way of saying YOU SON OF A B-, and what he said in the dub is technicaly a swear, so lets say he sweared here

I think people underestimate what the standard is for kids shows honestly
absolutely. for that reason the humor of Regular Show for example is better than Close Enough.
I mean, one of them was literally an ADULT('S) joke, so I can appreciate the humor in that.
Exactly why a lot of them "especially on Cartoon Network" suck, they lack creativity, imagination, proper writing, or any lessons that are good for children to learn. Teen Titans Go is the prime example of a terrible kids show while Gravity Falls is the prime example of a great kids show.

I remember watching Gravity Falls when I was in elementary school, and my grandma was in the room with me. She asked me, “Are you sure this is a kids show?” And I said yeah cause I didn’t understand what she meant at the time, but after rewatching this show almost a decade later, I can definitely see why she was questioning it. 😂

In some way, Grunkle Stan smuggling pugs across the border is way worse than if it were illegal substances. The pugs being smuggled implies that people across the border are forbidden to own / restricted from owning them. The most likely reason for that would be, that the government doesn't want untrustworthy people to own pets / pugs. So Grunkle Stan most likely enabled shady people to obtain pugs, so who knows what they will do to them? Neglect them? Abandon them? Mistreat them? Eat them?
Stan is still truely not what he seems.
