Mashudes A 6/10 still isn't a pass in my books. Btw, I do have my own opinions on films (I didn't like the Hobbit even though most people did) but I'll definitely listen to critics because they KNOW what's good. I don't want to waste my money on a bad film because going to the theatre is not cheap.

Fun Fact:In international Territories it was distributed by Universal and released on blu ray and dvd by them. I think it was only distributed by Weinstein in the UK.
Before its release, I was having some hopes for this movie, mostly because the character designs reminded me of Don Bluth (my non-Disney animation idol). But no... I should've known better. I think this is on par with Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights (because of having the same problems IMHO; an unlikeable main character, decent-looking animation that does nothing new or creative, horrible jokes and a cast of annoying and despicable characters). And yes people, this and that movie I mentioned are two of the WORST animated films I've ever had the courage to check out.
P.S: Another thing is that people debate whether the animation to this movie is decent or not. I'm in the "decent" side. Under normal circumstances... yes, the designs are too plain and unoriginal (I'll admit), but at least for me, it does look like as if Don Bluth decided to go CGI.

Silvia Fingerotter I had 2 teachers. One of them was out so the other teacher put this on. Which I don't get since the teacher that was out literally didn't do anything all school year but whatever. He just handed out pink slips if we were "bad". Thank God I'm out of that class for good.

Ok, don't listen to this guy, bc I give it a 7.5. yesterday I saw his vid, (I saw the trailer of this movie, thinking it wouldn't be a good movie) and seeing his opinion, I thought he was right that it wasn't that good. BUT I just saw the movie today, and I LOVED it! Surly is my fav in this movie! The moment I saw him I felt in love, I was rooting him on throughout the movie, and bouncing on my seat. He has a heart of gold. He is just afraid to get close to anyone, like once he was baned, he keep pushing buddy away, bc he said "This is my punishment pal..." And didn't want him to be an outsider also. There was a point when he thought he was a street rat, and hit him by accident, and was devastated thinking that he killed him right away, and once buddy woke up, surly was so happy he hugged him, and saying that is was so nice to have a friend, but quickly stopped bc he still didn't wasn't his only friend having to live his life with a "screw up" like himself. Or a part when the mole was going to drown the twins, he quickly saved them, but no one believed him, and hatted him even more. And even at the end when he saved the whole park, he let the team get all the credit while he himself looked like the bad guy still, this guy has done so much more really good stuff, but I'm too lazy to type them all and I don't want to spoil it for you all. I thought it was actually a pretty decant film, but I for some reason found Surly an interesting character...again for some reason I really don't know why. :P
The only character I liked was Buddy. And maybe that guard dog. As for the jokes, I can be a bit of a sucker for slapstick so it made me laugh a few times. But overall the jokes felt forced or cringeworthy.
Also, a nut job means a mad or crazy person. Just putting that out there.
I love Andie, she was by far the most giving and hardworking character in both movies. Not to mention, the most caring. She would only do what was right.

Hey, did you know that short film, "Surly Squirrel", wasn't a student film? It was actually made by DKP Studios (previously known as Dan Krech Productions, and DKP Effects). It was founded by one of the short's executive producers, Dan Krech. The studio has a pretty well known filmography, which includes "Joseph: King of Dreams", "Everyone's Hero", and several episodes of "VeggieTales". That studio was, in fact, the first animation studio outside of Big Idea to do animation for VeggieTales (they previously did for Big Idea three episodes of 3-2-1 Penguins, "Runaway Pride at Lightstation Kilowatt", "Doom Funnel Rescue", and "Moon Menace on Planet Tell-A-Lie"). The first episode they did for VeggieTales was "A Snoodle's Tale" in 2004. At that time, Dan Krech sold the company off to IDT Entertainment, and became no longer involved with it. I really loved the way Surly was designed. I'm not sure what it is but it's just nice to look at; the tuft of chest fur really accents the look somehow. Also, I found it fascinating at how realistic the wire climbing animations were. It was very convincingly squirrely :3 I regularly watch unloved movies so this and Escape From Planet Earth are things that don't waste my time because nearly all movies fascinate me :)

I saw this movie recently and although it's bland and terrible, I didn't think it was as bad as everyone is making out to be. The rat Buddy did have some cute moments, but asides from that, it was pretty bad :/
The reason why I think The Nut Job is good is because I found the heist section very fascinating. It was unlike any other movie I saw. So, therefore, the second half of The Nut Job will always hold a special place in my heart. But the first half is kinda forgettable. The heist is awesome though, at least in my opinion
I remember most people walking out of theatre when the squirrels randomly started dancing to Gangnam Style for no reason :/ and so did I.
My god 2013 just sucked for everyone! Music, movies animation and even gaming! Despite having some gems you had to crawl up a mountain of shit to get to them! Doesnt look like 2014 will be any better =/

I didn't hate this movie, I'll admit, the animation looks pretty decent and I do like Buddy ( the rat ) and Preciuos ( the Pug ), but I agree with AniMat, the main character is a Hateable guy, the humour was stupid and there isn't anything me stable about it; 4\10 in my opinion.

When I saw the title, I thought this was another Bad Fur Day...
If you want a heist animated film with cutesy woodland animals with better animation, better jokes, much more likable characters, and much more fun, flock to the underrated gem called Over the Hedge immediately! Hopefully it will help you forget this abysmal movie!

Despite its “mean-spirited” tone, PhantomStrider found this movie “refreshingly inoffensive”.
I somehow think the original short had better character design an of course better animations. Yes fur is cute and all but it is neither hard to make anymore nor is it really astonishing fur. While the short had the rubbery graphic used for it and the animation of the figures was pretty awesome even trough some ankles here and there show the classic problems, also materials and lighting was crude for today standards. But you could easily update that today to make it look rather gorgeous.
Peregrine Yeti costs over $600 dollars as an extension to Maya. The animation was a bit lacking but the newer release 2017 smoothened out the animation so well, they included very fine motion and well-made fur and textures. The rigs were improved and they hired better landscape designers. Most of the joint issues were corrected.
I don't even think the Weinstein Company is trying anymore if they're shoving stuff like this into theatres.

Yeah. I don't regret seeing the movie, I just wish it had been better. I felt like it could have been a eight out of ten with some changes. It really reminded me of a house. It's in a good neighbourhood, the curb appeal is okay, and the general foundation is pretty sound, but the owner made some, odd, choices with the interior. It's fixable, just need to destroy most of the none load baring walls and rebuild. I mean I still think about it from time to time and it's almost been two years since it came out. You could have been great little movie or at least you could have been re-watchable if someone was on a plane.
Throughout the entire movie I was waiting for either a plot twist or character development... I'm still waiting.
The dog had a few cute moments if I remember correctly and I have to agree with the animation looking decent, but that doesn't make it a movie I'd re-watch.

To clarify, The Weinstein Company did not released this movie. Open Road Films, the guys who gave us awesome Liam Neeson's The Grey and the heinous Steve Jobs biopic, actually did. Poor Liam Neeson, why was he wasted in the movie?

of course the only likable characters had to be the girl and Jeff Dunham, that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw this, the main character himself, the one we're MEANT to root for can be summed up as "that kid from school who treats everyone like an analbag" and the others have pretty much the personality of a stick or are EXTREMELY annoying, at least the girl acts like the sense of reason in this clusterfuck of insanity, and hey, who doesn't likes ol' Jeffrey? such a shame he had to star in this mess of a movie, Mat you did the right thing by slapping the seal of garbage on this

I think Raccoon should be the main protagonist rather than Surly which would become the main antagonist
I thought that was weird too, but Andie should have been the protagonist. She only wanted what was right the entire time. Just because Raccoon fooled her in the start doesn't mean she had bad intentions. She was the lovely sweetheart of the entire film

Eight Crazy Nights, Chicken Little, The Nut Job, Shark Tale, Norm of the North and The Emoji Movie are among my most hated animated films of all time
I don't care if heist film's a genre. I saw the trailer for this when I saw Frozen, and all I could think aside from the twirl-tailed dog and Surly's bad voice was how much this film rips off Over the Hedge, but with less of the subplots to make it interesting. I don't consider the look of either film to be good either, only barely passing the good-for-TV standard. In this case, however, the older CGI film is somehow still better looking.

For me, Over the Hedge was just meh. I liked Vere and Hammy, but the others I could care less about. They could have made a satire on hyper-consumerism, but that feels shorthanded when every human in the movie has a humongous two-door fridge. We see barbeques invaded and infomercials, but what about the couch potatoes? I'd like seeing the animals become obese so they could play with the idea of "driving with an SUV because we're slowly losing our ability to walk." Instead, it's one great introduction to suburban food, and the rest is a liar-revealed story. RJ's just plays it too coolly for me to get invested in the threat of his being caught in the lie.
It also taught me that if you give a squirrel soda, the squirrel will break through time. Watching Hammy walk through a frozen world, casually and humming, crept me out as a kid.
+Sullivan Swami (SMS UK) definitely agree! I think it's one of Dreamworks' best films. Plus, it was the only animated film based directly off a comic for 8 years (until Big Hero 6 and The Peanuts Movie)

If there’s a brighter note, at least we got a better animated heist film with The Bad Guys with everything that this film doesn’t have like a better supporting cast, great action, better humor, better soundtrack with its own original song with “Good Tonight” that’s a banger instead of a song that’s not as big a phenomenon as it was a decade ago and, of course, a better and LIKABLE protagonist.
