- Kerbal Space Program 2... beautiful and buggy. I take a stab at an Eve return mission, possibly the first one to do so on CZcams?
It's certainly an interesting experience. Instead of adding onto the negative reviews for now, I wanted to try a proper mission. I miss proper camera controls, but KSP2 is pretty nice to look at.

Congrats, I considered doing an Eve return mission but I don't think my sanity could handle it with the game in it's current state 😂
Understandable, luckily my sanity broke long ago with KSP1 so I kept going at this one!

The best part is that they made the intense remix of the Eve music play on an ascent, while the music is calm and slow on a descent

Thank you! Yeah, fighting both physics and bugs is tricky, it's rather unfortunate.
I'm sure in time we'll see some pretty epic missions from people, certainly looking forward to what you come up with :)
@@TDChannelKSP so... in total honnesty ... how much time did it take for the whole mission ?
@@sebastiendetilly5264 I managed to get this produced very quickly:
- I started prototyping the ascent vehicle design on the 25th, and began filming.
- 26th: I completed filming the mission
- 27th: Filmed a few extra segments and began the initial edit
28th: Finished the edit, prepped for release the next morning.
So, while the bugs were annoying it didn't take super long to do - the mission is relatively simple, requiring no docking and relatively small rockets.

The VAB teleporting to space feels extremely Kerbal to me
Its a very 2012 Kerbal Space Program 1 kinda feeling.
I really wonder why tf the game does that, like what bit of code is making it think to transport a land mass to the location of the player

KSP2 has very few minor bugs. It mostly has major bugs.

Yup, it's part of the default game! Right click + MMB can move the camera, TAB can switch to mouselook, and arrow keys can pan the camera.
Still, I miss KSP1 camera control features like aiming camera at parts, and of course the CameraTools mod...

Something about your kerbal literally scratching her ### while her lander falls apart behind her will always be funny to me.
My best guess is that the parachutes might have been automatically disabled as "Unsafe" because a value (most likely atmospheric drag) derived from velocity *× pressure* exceeds a threshold value very early in the descent, meaning the maximum rated velocity only applies as stated when the craft is very high up (where the pressure is very low) and decreases as the craft descends.
The OST is so good. As a musician, this was worth purchase alone. You GOT to blast the duna OST when you do a duna/mars mission!

Your clouds look so much nicer and denser than mine. Mine look kind of pixelated and fuzzy instead of fluffy. Did you do something or have I got some bad setting in Nvidia control panel

Just placed a small satellite in Kerbin orbit in my third launch ever. I've never played KSP 1 and I'm glad I chose to play KSP 2, the performance was great and I had 0 Kraken attacks or bugs, except some oddities in the VAB.
I love the game, but I had enough until the next patch (hopefully lol) Nice camera work by the way. Really nice video
Congrats! You may indeed be the first one to post a video of an Eve landing and return in KSP2. Even if you aren't, this is a classic KSP video in the style of the old greats.
Great mission! But damn, Even with RTX 3080ti and relatively low part count (Compare to typically more than hundreds of part launch that you do) It is still this laggy. Yeah, the game is not ready. I have tried on my own with RX 6700XT but performance with more than 100 parts and looking at the ground sucks. Maybe in 6 months, the game will be in a better state I hope.
This game has insane potential, that's clear as day. But yeah there's still a lot of work to it.
it seems one thing killing performance is the game always has the KSC loaded into VRAM. imagine this is related to some of the bugs with it appearing out of nowhere
Thanks! Yeah, performance is really disappointing right now - I can't do the kind of grand missions I want to when it slows to such a crawl. Hopefully it'll get *much* better with time.

What is status for asparagus staging in KSP 2? You made it worked somehow or?
It seems like it... sort of worked? The first tanks drained their tanks the soonest, however the second tanks were also draining, just not as fast. I think the outer asparagus tanks fed into the main core, but not the other pair of boosters.

How did you manage to do the asparagus design since we can't see the amount of fuel in a tank ?
You can see the amount in a fuel tank via the part manager.
However, it wasn't entirely effective - it seems like the outer tanks successfully transferred fuel into the main tanks, but not the inner tanks. The inner tanks behaved like there was no fuel line connection at all.

How did you calculate the Aerospike's ISP being 285 at Eve's atmospheric pressure? I'm curious if there's a tool out there with up to date info for KSP 2 engines that shows data like this.
Nothing so complex - I just took it to eve, turned it on and noted its ISP in the right click menu :P
The stage info mod might be able to do it though: spacedock.info/mod/3272/Stage%20Info

What happens to Merbles chariot I? Also include the fps on launch statistic again! (Any larger of a launch and the the craft would just disintegrate on the pad.)
The first chariot variant was non-nuclear, but that had a 2 FPS launch from 18 engines, so I went with SWERV.

It’s really making me mad how they’re handling the launch for this game. I keep getting commercials showing all the new stuff that they haven’t added. Some don’t even have a disclaimer that none of this shit is in the game yet.

even with all the bugs and performance issues and even after pirating the game with my 1060 i can safely say that on low with the release version i had 20 fps on launch pad 12 during launch and making the orbit and between 20-40 in orbit (it was a craft that could go 1 way to the mun) im still gonna buy it as soon as im able to
(if the start of ksp 1 is anything to go off this is gonna be 1 hell of an amazing game)

i got on eve once only in ksp 1
forgot to make stairs to the floor.
i realized that so i could not eva.
tried going back to kerbin but didnt have enough fuel to even get into eve orbit.
mission failure and there was never a rescue mission.

Definitely. Though perhaps the SWERV makes more sense behind a tech tree gate and seems overpowered in sandbox.
Hopefully by the time they nerf things, they also fix performance so I can do it properly xD

When you of all people are getting 12 FPS on launch (worse than me) you know they need to optimize (yes I know game dev 101 and such optimization comes later but they do need to do it as soon as they can viably do it)

Not sure. Patches have been promising in fixing critical issues, but it's still a bit ehh. Maybe when the first content update comes out.
