I have the GMT - it’s a superb watch in every way. I’ve never found the size or thickness an issue.
It also has the date, which is a nice feature. I like the 58, but it seems to me the watch media went all in on the 58, like it was the perfect watch. It’s a nice watch, but not nicer than the GMT.

I own the bb gmt and its wonderful! I hate that the watch media has pushed for smaller and smaller watches in the last couple of years. Straight up, the gmt looks better. I get that many of the watch journalists and bloggers are smaller guys sooo, they are just expressing what they want in smaller pieces.

I have the Tudor GMT. It's perfect no complaint on the thickness. Just love the functions and look of the GMT
I went to pick up the the black bay 58, they also had the GMT and tried it on and instantly loved it, can’t stop wearing it every day!

I'm lucky enough to have both. I didn't like the Pepsi at first but I've grown to love it. The 58 is perfect imo
Those are both really lovely, but after seeing this I am no longer enamored with the GMT, but really want that BB58...that is on the top of my wish list.

Got to try the GMT and blue bb58. I went for the GMT. It just gave that good feeling and I like the way it pops on the wrist. Also I realised I need the date when I was grocery shopping and checking expiry dates lol.
Had the GMT a few months. I had a choice of black or red at my local AD. I ve never noticed the thickness an issue. So glad I chose the GMT.. It is thicker and larger than a Submariner although it is an all round larger piece. Tudor GMT really is a beautiful watch and a lot of watch for the money . You want be disappointed..

I owe the gmt, great watch but its heavy, so I bought the 58, love the 58, wears the best..nice to have both.. the gmt pops.. it will be a classic in a few years.. first tudor gmt.. but the 58 feels great on the wrist... like I said fun watches for the money... best for the price.. hard to find...even a year later.. Great video...

I noticed that straight away about the GMT regarding the indices they look really small making the face look empty very plain looking?! I also prefer the BB58 because it looks very classy and timeless however I like the thickness of the GMT. Keep up the great work and stay safe pal!!
Both of them are very nice. They really did a great job with the design on these.
I if I going to purchase one, I would pass on these and go for the Blackbay Steel 41.I prefer the larger size and I really like how it looks with the steel bezel.

Great comparison. I have the GMT - adore it. I like the thickness (a couple of mm are the domed crystal / bezel) as it gives presence. It’s like a Rolex deepsea - a watch you notice and looks great on a taller / bigger guy, whereas the 58 (or my Explorer 39) just disappears (which is fine for formal dress, but not my taste for casual). These watches are amazing value, to me, they are a match for any Rolex in charm.

Whenever I see the Tudor GMT I think it's an affordable Rolex GMT II, but when I see the BB58 it's a standalone watch. It's vintage-inspired, but what it has achieved in terms of movement to case size ratio, slimness, and value proposition is extraodinary. There isn't an alternative to it that isn't $300,000+ (and cost a similar fortune to own) which is the 6358. What's more is that it is perfect for the market it was trying to move into. It's one of the rare watches that is unlikely to ever be changed (much like the submariner) due to how unique it is.

What are you talking about? The BB58 is a tribute to previous subs like the gmt is tribute to the aluminum gmt master 2. That’s what the BB line is... a heritage line for their past catalogue
@@lewisjones3345 I agree that the BB58 is based on past Tudor Subs. That kind of goes without saying.
But if you look into what it actually is, a Rolex quality movement inside arguably the best-proportioned dive case ever, I think it definitely exceeds past just being a homage watch. I think while on the surface, yeah of course it's a homage design, but it's become more than that and I definitely think that was Tudor's intention when they released the BB58 as the star of the BB line in 2018.
Question for you, is Tudor today just a line of homage divers of their older models? That seems to be what you are implying with your last comment. I'd argue that with new technology and designs that these 'homage' watches are not homages at all, but their own thing.
Fergus Maclean Oh don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the BB line and I definitely like the 58. I like that its a Sub with the gilt markings with the original sizing. I think that Tudor is the Rolex from 25 years ago. Rolex has moved to full on luxury brand, and its inaccessible. The Tudor is accessible and available. The Tudor BB GMT is amazing. The BB Black with the red dot at 12 is killer. If Rolex did a limited release of the 1962 Big Crown, it would be 100k. So I agree that the BB 58 is amazing, but it’s a Tudor heritage line is just that, pulling from their catalogue to make modern recreations of their past watches because Rolex is far to responsible to do that. Omega has. Heuer has. But not Rolex. (Sadly!)
@@lewisjones3345 not at all, I never thought you didn't like the watch.
You might be right, a big crown rerelease may just come to 100K in the after market, perhaps 20 years down the road. Although.I definitely think that they wouldn't want to do that with a limited edition piece, and personally I think IWC will always do big crown best (Rolex is small by comparison).
Interesting point about pulling from older models. I definitely think that although Rolex has not specifically released any vintage recreations, their current models are pretty close in design and execution to past ones. I guess that is where Omega, Heuer and Tudor differ becuase when they have released their reinspired lines they always have different designs and new features. Rolex stays relatively the same, not trying to reinvent the wheel. Personally I definitely think that this works for each of these companies. Patek doesn't have to reinvent the wheel, so why should Rolex if they are (supposedly) regarded similarly by the market? Watch markets are a bit confounding at the best of times though

I just wish the BB58 came with different color bezels. Went with the regular BB because I wanted the red bezel. And you can’t find the 58 anywhere.
The Black Bay 58 looks so classy and distinct.
Since I got into watches it must've been one of my favourites.
As the APs and PHs are probably unobtainable in my lifetime, the Tudor is something I look forward owning some day.

Besides the sizes, hour points are small on gmt and also looking smaller on a 41mm case, 58 is the best one for now👌
The GMT in the size of the 58 will be the perfect watch.
Having just spent my money on the GMT of I’m going to say I prefer 1 relatively large wrist 2 usually weir a 43mm Breitling so the 41mm GMT sits on my wrist perfectly but I love most of the Tudor watches exceptionally well built and sensibly priced compared to its sibling brand
Nice video. I own both. Only changes I would make to the GMT are 13mm thick and 20mm width bracelet. The GMT does have a chamfer on the bottom which the 58 doesn’t to reduce visual thickness.
Any winding differences- how it feels?

I have the GMT , don't find it too big . I really love this watch . Don't like the gold accents on the 58. But do like the new blue version
Agree, the GMT thickness and the tiny hands and hour indices make it look out of proportion. All the full size black bays need to cut 3mm in thickness, they would be far more appealing.
Love the Pelagos line as well. Especially the one in blue.

Tudor Black Bay 58 all the way. I suppose I might feel differently if the GMT wasn’t a Pepsi Bezel(not sure)....I like tudor as a brand and don’t think They are just a cheap Rolex’s, as some people like to say...However in the case of this GMT (Pepsi) I do think to myself ‘Not a Rolex’....Thanks for the great content and review. I have a BB58 as my daily driver... I really "need" the GMT now...
I am a GMT owner and I recently borrowed a friend's BB58. I found that I really missed the date function, loved the 58's bezel but the movement felt rough to wind compared to the GMT and the BB58 dial felt cramped. I personally found the markers too big for the 58. Everything else I loved.
But the GMT is so thick 😬

I got a sea dweller, explorer polar and gmt master.. I was considering between getting the sea dweller or the bb58. But ultimately I still bought the Rolex despite the price, because I don’t want to have any regrets

Damn that GMT is so nice. If only there weren’t rivets on the bracelet. If I didn’t want a seamaster I would probably pick up a Tudor
Get a Strapcode fitted endlink bracelet. Might even be possible to retain the Tudor clasp.
I sold my new model wave dial Seamaster and got the GMT. Make sure you try the GMT on before pulling the trigger on the Seamaster as the GMT is still a legit diver. , I found the Seamaster looked cool for a bit, then over time it gets a bit tiring / too casual - the GMT for me is so much more versatile.
If you can go for a Tudor non-riveted bracelet, do that. It fits perfectly on mine. The strapcode bracelet don't even come close.
I think you get used to the rivets pretty quickly. But Seamaster is a classic!

I prefer the proportions of the larger indices on the bb58 but both watches are great and for me, either would be a perfect watch.

I thought you'd never review the Tudor BB. You focus on so many reasonable watches. But the BB is my favorite watch. There's a reason why people are talking about it year after year. IMO the GMT is the better value. Do you think it's safe to by a BB from the grey market?

The weights are with or without bracelets? Cca 140g for bb58 on bracelet would be fantastic.
The weights are with bracelets sized for my wrist (about 7.5 inches).
Ultimately everything is down to personal choice. I'd prefer the Tudor BB P01...... The fact that lots of people seem to hate it makes it instantly more attractive to me and even more reason why I would love to wear it 👍
I recently tried one on and in person it looks waaay better than pictures.
Also another worthy note, the Black Bay 58 has a slightly thicker hour and minute hand when compared to the GMT.
Great review. COSC is -4 to +6 per day.
That doesn't sound right enough. For some reason I had previously thought it was +/-2.
I get that it's 5 point adjusted and tested at three different temps for a few weeks.
But I have non COSC watches that run within those margins.
@@notDonaldFagen the +/- 2 secs are for rolex superlative chronometer. Because they are running within -4 to +6 secs per day on your wrist does not mean they run within cosc. Cosc testing includes variations in temperature and different positions and only allows a maximum of deviation of 2 secs on following days.

I was torn apart for a long while between the BB 58 and Tudor GMT, I opted for the GMT as I always wanted a GMT for travelling in my collection but I didn't want another Rolex. I considered functionality over the aesthetic charms of the BB58 but I can live with my choice as they both represents good value for money. Nice comparison, personally I can't have two Tudors in my box, Tudor will not be bringing out a GMT 58 to avoid stepping closer to the Rolex GMT.

FYI, you said the GMT has a 60 click bezel in the video, which is incorrect. It actually has a 48 click bezel. This is actually done on purpose to correlate with the 24 hour bezel.

Ok exactly what I am looking for, I really want a Tudor but will only be getting 1! ( strict budget?). I am thinking GMT as of all the GMTs out there nothing compares to it for the price and style. While I’d love the 58... there are other five watches and really my grail is a submariner no date so ultimately I will be leaving the dive space for this. I have tried both watches on and the 58 is perfect fit. The GMt is obviously bigger but happy with that as my OP39 is nice and need and I want to have watches that are different not just in look but how they wear. That’s my logic happy with some feedback😄
If you're not in rush wait a little. Maybe Tudor will come out with a smaller version of the GMT. As you said slimmer 58 fit like a glow.

Kudos on using the watch box cushions to showcase the differences in size. I don’t know why but that seems to make it very obvious where other reviews didn’t. I thought the GMT case was too bulky but now I’m sure of it!!

Nice comparison. Anybody waiting for BB 58 GMT will wait until the end of time! Tudor will not go head to head with Rolex GMT, if you want Rolex gmt you have splash the cash or go for the value Tudor GMT. Those who are waiting in anticipation, sorry to piss on your strawberries this is market strategy.
They are basically the same watch. You can tell the difference, if you put them right next to each other and look carefully. I like the Pelagos more than either. It’s a far better dive watch.

The size and thickness of the GMT is too big and chunky for my liking. BB 58 I think is a much better size for me anyway. I don't own either but a couple years ago I tried on a BB 41 and I think it is the same size as the GMT. It was too thick and heavy for me. I am not putting the watch down. It is a good size for larger wrist people or people who like hefty watches.
I also tried the BB41 at my AD before placing an order for the GMT. I did find the BB41 slightly too thick but still manageable. The GMT actually has a significant bevel on the underside of the case, making it wear thinner than the BB41. I find that numbers on paper often won't tell the same truth as trying the actual watch on your wrist.

My 2c - the GMT has absolutely no comparison at this price point. If you are looking for a GMT for under $5000 USD, this is the one to go for. If you were looking for a GMT under $3000 USD, please save up for this. The jumping hour is too good for anyone who would regularly use the GMT function.
The BB58 is subjectively the best diver in its class at this price point, but there's a lot of other options, including from Omega or Grand Seiko etc., as well as some on the slightly lower price point from smaller brands such as Sinn and Oris. You may end up liking another diver at this price point.
Tudor Black Bay ETA version is only 12.7mm thick. The best 41mm iteration.
ETA over inhouse? You can buy a rep with an ETA and save yourself about 2 and a half grand.

Tried on the BB58 this past weekend at an AD. Was quite nice. Even though I have large wrists, I would love to see a new GMT in the BB58 case. Probably everyone would as well!
Sold the GMT it just never sat flush on my wrist and always felt unbalanced, the 58 fits like a glove
Sold my gmt due to height and bulk .. top heavy wobbles over the wrist . Tudor should not be making such errors they really have to sort this out wearability is so important.

That GMT is a chunky lump of watch. Not for you if you do subtle to any degree.
I just bought the BB GMT. I literally cannot wear it. The clasp has an opening that chafes the hell out of the underside of my wrist. Within an hour my wrist underside was all swollen, burning and red. Totally and utterly unwearable.
Why they put that hole/ opening on the scissor clasp is beyond me. Why not one solid smooth piece of metal like Rolex or any other brand for that matter? Now what to do with a $5000 watch that’s unwearable??
Flip the bracelet around, I did that and it wears better..or get a nato

I have both watches, on the gmt your not going to move the bezel, it just screws up the gmt time, its better to make it hard to move the bezel for the gmt. On the 58 if you dive you can move the bezel but real whos diving with these watches.
