Excellent review as always. As a guy considering buying a 4-door 2020 SI, you've touched on all the things I wanted to know about it before I walk into a Honda showroom. Of course I will have to test drive it for myself to see it's the right car for me. But your review was informative, to the point, and even entertaining. Keep up the great work!

You are probably not going to believe me, but I bought that exact car. I live in central Illinois (near Peoria). I put a deposit on an Si just like that one and waited for over a month for my local dealer to tell me they didn't even know when or where the car was coming from. I had seen you review and said screw it I'll call Honda of Lisle and see if they still have it. They did, and I drove 2 hours north to get it the same day I called. My fiance said that the odds of it being the one you reviewed were low. I second guessed myself too, but in the cold when the windshield fogs up on the inside you can see the rings from the suction mounts you used to film yourself! Hope you didn't drive it too hard off camera! Great review btw! It compelled me to go out and buy one LOL!

I got a 2019 Civic Si coupe as well. Yes, I agree if you want to put people in the backseat then get a sedan, but I set back in my coupe comfortably for at least 2 hours. The thing is those front seat adjustment is huge gate spaces as it goes back so the front seat driver can seat comfortably if not pushing the seat all the way back in the gate to accommodate the back seat driver. I don’t need the 306 horses to the crank. Even if i brought the R used to justify some of the cost, i would nevvvver ever track it. The SI is perfect...if it was in a hatch. I do not want another trunk since i only can afford one car right now. The GTI is honestly my best bet....but i dont want a GTI 😫. I just want an affordable manual performance hatch or even crossover for my next vehicle.

The old engine was happy to rev to redline even if it had less power, the new one chokes before it gets to redline which makes it feel like an economy turbo engine. They should’ve put exhaust vtec on the SI, just like the type r engine and maybe it would’ve felt more like a performance engine. Other than that, the new civic is a great car.

Furthermore, I think the car has a knock sensor that changes the ignition timing caused by the difference in the fuel quality. Still, I would like to eliminate knocking altogether to preserve the engine while still saving money.

Yes. in Europe isn't available. More than that, Honda Civic, in terms of reliability , unfortunately, it isn't as good as the predecessor. And we're not talking just about oil dilution. Rattles everywhere, cheap materials, the infotainment system is already obsolete. Owners complain also about changing oil at 6000 km...

You can’t accidentally go to reverse on a normal car because the mechanism locks when the car is in motion. You have to be at a near stand still to be able to go to reverse.

    Solid review.
As a current leaser of a 2019 si sedan, I can say I am super satisfied that I don't have any of the nonsensical safety features that detract away from the driving experience. Lane departure? Fwd collision? Save that boomer-tech for the grandmas in their volvo's, Honda. I'm also happy my interior doesn't have all that extra red in the seats/dash and came with a -$700 MSRP.
However, man are those matte black wheels sexy as opposed to the ridiculous A-symmetrical 2 tone wheels I currently have, and of course how can't you love the standard LED's (I had to upgrade mine for $34 on ebay) and revised bumper trim on the front and back.
Good with the bad I guess. Looking forward to turning mine in in 2022 for a possible 11th gen!

Michael I balked at buying the 2017-2019 Civic SI because i hated those 4 fake-exhaust square boxes front and back that were real eyesores for me. But now they've broken those ugly shapes up with body-color cross bars that change the whole look, and that's good enough for me. I also love the volume knob for the audit system. Personally every "upgrade" that takes you away from tried-and-true knobs and buttons to adjust stuff like volume and music source is actually a huge turn-off for me. When I am taking this wonderful little car down a road with turns and curves, I don't want to be hunting around some "this big knob does everything" gimmick like those S-drive or whatever you find in so many cars now. My eyes need to stay on the road, not frantically searching through menus and sub menus.

I take it you short shifted it since it is not broken in? Sounded like you upshifted at 4500 tops. Best performance comes from shifting at 5000-5,500.
I agree that the big changes I notice in Sport mode is the steering, suspension in that order. It does rev faster in sport mode, but doesn't actually go that much faster in sport mode- just has sharper handling.

Drive it hard, get it hot, and there's no problem. A good hwy romp doesn't hurt either. This isn't specifically a honda problem right now, although it IS more pronounced on them. Low friction piston rings + VERY efficient cooling system coupled with drivers who never get their engine up to operating temp is what's primarily causing this problem.

I have the 19 Si sedan love this 🚗💨 ktuner, exhaust & k&n filter. Very very happy. I even test-drove the Hyundai Veloster n performance & it did not feel any faster then my Civic when I have the boost turned up,(21 psi) it did feel more tight like a race car but in overall acceleration I think my Civic would keep right up no prob. & the Civic has 4 doors much more of a comfortable ride, I even get between 32-45 MPG but that depends on how heavy you're right-foot is. 4 a car that's tuned that feels extremely quick in my opinion 2 get gas mileage & comfortability n' extremely good handling is very impressive and that limited slip diff is great! For the 💰 it does everything on a very high level
