Today Nick Ferguson joins me as we discuss how we would design a property to actually feed a community living on it. We hear so often, "I am going to get some friends together, buy some land and grow all our own food". Most of these people are not vegetarians but seem to focus on wanting to grow vegetables, fruits and grains to "grow all their own food". There is a better way to do this.
Yummy Links as Promised in the Video!

Roughly 50 minutes in, paused it, immediately looked up Muscovy ducks for raising in the backyard. A few hours later: Yeah, chickens are cool and all, but I'm now planing to raise Muscovy ducks.
Even found an article about ponds for ducks that use biofilters so you don't have to empty it everyday. Wonderful addition to my planned backyard and front yard permaculture food forest.
Knowledge bomb. Loved this one. Going to plant two or three white mulberries.
Mulberries growing down the center of the chicken run? Would honey locust do this too? Black soldier flies? The layering of products makes so much sense. I'm wanting to do this. It makes me nuts trying to figure out where to begin. Soooo much to work on.
AWESOME VIDEO. THANKS!
My dad’s parents grew about a third of their own food when I was a kid. That was a lot of work and the grandkids spent spring break and a lot of weekends over at the grandparent’s harvesting stuff. Raw peanuts freshly picked were good though. Chickens and my grandpa had a deal worked out with a guy he knew from the Masons lodge for two pigs a year. One of those was strictly for the 4th of July.
by far the hardest part of fasting is the boredom. If you've never done a multiday fast, you have no idea the enormous amount of your daily time is spent thinking about, preparing, or eating food. Depending on your lifestyle, it can be really hard to fill all that extra free time. If you want a fast to be easy, start it when you are very busy
Okay but what does that have to do with this video. 🤔
I'd like to think I'm a good garden... how many packets of seeds do you need on hand to not only have harvests to live on plus seeds to replant? If you eat all your wheat and oats etc. Next year's gonna be a tough one
People who can’t figure out how to grow a lawn…will try to grow tomatoes!!!….one of the hardest crops to grow
Can anyone recommend a good source of comfry?
